PayPal will just refund you surely? Or did you pay as a gift? :/

Unfortunately in the nature of the org I was trying to save the seller any fees and gifted the payment to him.

I don't wish to interfere with the running of the forum but perhaps the guidelines for trade selling could be tweaked somewhat to include the advice that the forum in no way guarantees the reliability of sellers/buyers and/or that it is not advised to use the PayPal gift option/unrecoverable methods of purchase?

Not a complaint but I now a mod/admin or two is following this thread and I feel the guidelines may have been thrown out a while ago and a quick review never goes amiss even if they decide it should remain the same.

Also, don't you love the / key. Might be the beer talking?

Regarding 'tweaking...', I feel the moderators/administrator should perhaps stipulate, all sales should be on a 'cash on collection' basis only....

That would just be dam right stupid to have collection only. I've bought loads of stuff off org members and sold items and I've never had a problem!

Yep, same here, no problem buying or selling.

A better way would be to pay by regular Paypal so your purchase is protected, with the buyer adding a bit to cover the sellers PP fee.

It only amounts to a few pence on small transactions.

As I've learnt with EBAY, always, always send stuff recorded or tracked.

If there has been hundreds of honest deals, and the odd one that's failed, why bring in rules that only make life a little more difficult for the good people on here?

Its buyer beware. Buy sensibly and there will be no problems. Honest sellers won't mind the commonsense approach of dealing thro' paypal.

To be fair I've always gifted my payment to trusted and regular posting forum members and I always ask if someone doesn't mind because in this day and age every little does freaking help!

For items up to the value of £60 I believe you can send it normal post via Royal Mail and request a certificate of posting at the counter. In the event of the item going missing or being damaged you can claim for up to £60.

This only costs you normal postage. I always scan the certificate and email it to the buyer as proof of posting. No hassle, no costly signed for fees.
