Now after reading a thread on another site, they seemed not to kick up a fuss but make a deal out of a bike being imported...
Whats the big deal and the bad thing if it is...I know with the SV yeah the lights can be different, but what is the problem with it being imported? One or two peeps on here will know what thread I am on about as they are in it ![]() |

My Curvey was an import, the only difference was no carb heaters, and the headlamps (dipped the wrong way, and one was a projector lamp) mine had a MPH speedo aswell as it was imported my TAZ motorcyles

I imported my curvy back with me from Belgium, changed the clocks and lights for the SVA test, passed it & the MOT (a year ago) with flying colours. Only other difference is the lack of carb heaters and as I'm a fair weather weekend warrior there's no real issue there.
As Dan pointed out being left hand drive can mean that you head round roundabouts the wrong way. I also have problems finding Essence/Benzine in the UK. |

i was looking at imports when looking for my 125 a view years back and my problem was that nearly all the bikes i looked at were imported by a trader and not by the owner and not yet registered, so i had no knowing of the history of the bike or anything and it put me off completely.

There is no problem with imported bikes, you stand as much chance of buying a lemon as you do with a UK bike. Yes there can be some small differences but these matter not most of the time. For some reason most peeps stay away from the imports which means they are often cheaper to buy but again you get less at resale.
But as I usually tell the insurance company "aren't all bikes imported?", alas I jest. I own an import, never had a problem with it due to it being an import. |
