Default Engine Gaskets

As I’m splitting the cases to rebuild my engine and having split everything down I’m starting to think about putting it all back together. Thus I need gaskets.

Quick look over at Wemoto and a full gasket set comes in at £120. Let’s just say it was lucky I was sitting down. So suggestions please, where is cheaper etc? And are pattern ones like this acceptable or should I stick with the Suzuki items?

I already have new OEM exhaust gaskets in the garage should I just get the gaskets I need as some in that kit I haven’t touched in the engine or will it be just as expensive. I think it’s just the head gaskets, the covers (valve and sides) and cam adjusters that I will need. Oh and the water pump (stupid bible) and generator o-rings.

Default Re: Engine Gaskets

I'd go with OEM or decent aftermarket for head gaskets just due to the grief if they go. As for the others well it depends, some can be reused with a smear of sealant, some you can make yourself out of gasket paper.

As for O-rings, loads of the ones the manual say always replace I risk and haven't had them leak on me.

Default Re: Engine Gaskets

Don't split the water pump.
Alternator will be fine.

Get good head gasket, make base gasket out of gasket paper.

Output shaft seals and stuff should be obtainable for pennies from a bearing factor.
