Default Which 50cc?

Hi all, my 16 year old lad wants to get a little 50cc bike but everything he seems to find is Chinese and i don't want to go down that road. Any advice on makes and models to go for? He says he doesn't want a scooter so I know choice is limited.
Thanks in advance.

Rieju, mrt 50.
Pal of mine used to sell them, never got any back for warranty claims, unlike most of the Chinese junk. Unburstable yamaha engine, could even just lever off rieju engine covets and it said yamaha underneath!!!
Be looking for one soon for my daughter.

Thanks for the input, sorry I have been slow to respond but I'm on holiday and the Internet is rubbish. We will bear your ideas in mind but he is also looking at a kymco k pipe now, any thoughts on this?

get the cheapest carp you can get your hand on then buy him tools along with it. its a first bike he is going to crash it. by the time he can go get a 125 he will hopefully stop crashing and learned to fix/maintain a bike.

Derbi Senda was the daddy when I was 16. Would hit 60 easy. I had a TSX. Struggled to hit 30.

TRY and find a cheap used one to tide him over until he is old enough to get a proper bike.He will want a proper bike as soon as possible-----

Or, as happened in my case, will spend half the time off the road and he'll spend all his money on fixing it and it will put him off bikes for 12 years.

IMO, as with any bike, it's worth spending a bit extra on something that is in good order and not going to break down every 5 mins.

Unless of course he's mechanically inclined and wants to spend time getting his hands dirty.
