Other than Protyre who I have fallen out with?

Looks like I need another new rear before I do next decent trip

They're the only tyre only place that I know of in Bristol.

I've not had a problem with them before, but was a little shocked after someone posted (could have suz650) a really bad experiance. Summary they got home to find the brakes were not on properly and had damaged the discs etc.

So whats the fall out over?

My last tyres were from Speedwell Motorcycles give them a call and see what they have/ can get. Been using them for years so I always get a good deal. Other than that you might be able to get a cheap pair at the bike show tomorrow.

Turned up before a b/h told I was booked in a week later and that 'The Manager doesnt make mistakes'..blah, blah, blah. Funny as we were talkng about how just as well I got it done before the bank holiday. Wouldnt budge and got real arsey. In the end 'fitted me in' as a big favour

Generally arsey and offhand attitude.

Was also told by the fitter that my rear pads needed replacing and def after my next weekend trip. In fact they were only 2/3rds worn and BM didnt want to replace them ahead of a 4000 mile trip...I had to insist. Ok, he may not have been acquainted with BM's exactly.

So a not so good experience. Cheap tho is the problem.

Yes cheap is the problem...

I found that you can save alot by buying old-stock tryes. As the new incarnation of rubber arrives shops still have some of the 'old' stuff kicking around that they need to shift thus a bargin can be had. I saved about £50 on my rear by doing this, the problem is finding someone with the tyres.

Could always look around on line and order some, I'm sure a local tyre place would fit them for a couple of quid if you take them the wheels off the bike.

JHS in keynsham near bristol does tyres, but the choice i seem to remember wasnt huge and it was pricey.

If it wasnt for the balancing I'd do it myself. Mind you I suppose you can get a balance done on a loose wheel?

I used Protyre for a rear relacement, all was ok untill I noticed they had scratched my swing arm and bent the plate up that sits behing the rear nut. I allways take pride and make sur the job is done right, when paying proffesionals you should expect this!!

I've no experience of these guys but the labour rates are good and my experience of mobile outfits (for cars) in the past have only been positive as they're usually sole traders or small companies who rely on positive word of mouth.

They cover bristol, there's no call-out fee only a 1hour minimum labour charge (£27.50) - maybe overkill for fitting a tyre but at least you won't have to mess around removing wheels and can bag the best online tyre bargain you can find.

When I need some work done I'm going to give them a try.

ride out". I have no idea of how to take off the wheels and even if I
did I would never risk doing it myself. Ended up going to my local
Yamaha dealership in Trowbridge. They seem to have done the job fine
but I had to pay £210 for my Z6's. This is the problem of living in
the country: very little choice.

In Trowbridge we also have a place called BikeAid. It is know to be
very cheap and people who used it are happy. However, the guys who
run BikeAid look like Hells Angels and the outfit itself looks very dodgy (a
sort of Gone in Sixty Seconds place). Somehow I couldn't bring myself
to leave my pride and joy there.
