hhhmmmmm. this is interesting. i wonder if the speedo face design has any reference to the amount of pulses that the rotor needs. would be a quick way to tell what magnet would be needed to replace a broken one.

Updated snap of my Pointy. Just a possible new can to go! Do I need to inform my insurance people if I make changes to the bike?

[QUOTE=Kenzie;2546187]Updated snap of my Pointy. Just a possible new can to go! Do I need to inform my insurance people if I make changes to the bike?
Probably worth telling them. Mine is only interested if it improves the performance of the bike.

Small amount of heat
Well the three 'dont forget to breath' labels came off today.
Unfortunately heat only cuts the mustard with the label to the right of the windshield (presumably as it is stuck on a relativel rough surface an is not as well bonded).
On the Tank label and fairing side pod label the top layer of the label came off with heat , leaving the the white info lower layer! Alot more heat and car window ice scraper got the info layer off, Acetone (Wife's nale varnish remover) got the glue off. Polished remnants off with T-cut and finaly applied a coat of wax. You'd now never know they were fitted.
@ Bibio, Ebay job. Very fast shipping as well. He has them in light smoke as well.

Yes, brisk is quite the understatement, 115mph in 3rd still not topping out of an underatatement. And yea if you lean off the bike a bit for turning but keep your knees tucked in then yea you can rest them onthe bungs comfortably :)

Why were they unreliable?

14-09-11, 11:52 AM
Sometimes the hid just wouldn't start up, or I'd be out for a run and when I stopped one of them was off when it was on before. The high/low solenoids wouldn't always flick properly, because the way the relay controls them they only get an activating voltage for a second, so if they don't move the complete distance in that second they jump back to the original position. One of the angel eyes wouldn't always work either despite buying new ballasts.
They were more trouble than they were worth. And these new projectors put out a lot of light considering it is only 55W (one for dipped, one for high beam). A hell of a lot more than the dominators which had 2x55W. The spread of light is the same as the hid's, just not quite as intense.

If you are getting hid's stay away from bi-xenon ones. It's just more wiring and more stuff to go wrong.

Cheers mate, yeah its got about 9k on it now I've only put a couple of hundred miles on it since I got it. It's got the usual signs of age, the left hand folk (lower bit) has flaked a little, and theres a couple of tiny scratches on the tank etc but only minor things I should be able to sort easily. The brake discs look a little rusty (sounds worse than it is) but I'm sure they'll clean up, just not sure if theres anything specific that I can use with it being the brakes!

I was thinking of doing something along those lines and for £25 I'd probably be stupid not to. Just a bit daunted by having to take the folks off and apart as I've not done anything like that before, is it easy enough? And it'll probably work out expensive one way or the other as I'd probably think to myself, well the folks are of might as well upgrade the springs etc!!!
