Yes, but it doesn't mask any imperfections with the SV's engine. |

Well considering i have an Elka Rear shock set up and purchased from JHS, and hyperpro fork internals I wouldnt say I have any handling problems whatsoever. The bike is awesome! Just the odd occasion that it starts to shake its head a little.

So what damper would I require for a side mount. I think the one in the link is a top yoke Ducati style damper, but if you have a side mount kit lying around the garage (frame spar to lower yoke fork clamp) what would I need to look for?[/quote]
that damper in the link is the under yoke style one standard on the sv1000 i think aswell. if your looking a damper thers a few places than do them im not sure if you can get a side mounted one tho for the sv as ther isnt really any where on the frame 2 mount it till. i have an ohlins 916 style one on my race bike so you could get one of them GPR also do them i think for the sv and thers a few other places aswell. ![]() |

There is if you have a kit... Sprint made them with a side mount kit. Picked the kit up off of the Bay a while back but got no idea what damper I'd require. What ever it is it will need one with a longer push rod, just not sure what length. I have a stock 916 damper I got with some other bits and its far to short, I think it needs something like the old GSXR 7/11 types from what I remember they were side mounting?

SVRash and a few others have fitted the stock-fitment GSXR damper to SVs, with homemade brackets and ingenuity. I wouldn't bother, myself, but it makes it a very cheap option. Spending money on a damper instead of suspension is mad, but when you make it that cheap maybe it makes more sense (never tried it, never needed to, the only time my SV's slapped since I fitted the Ohlins was when I did a diabolical job of setting it up

Unless your forks have been completely stripped, rebuilt, and set up with the correct internals then i would say the rear is out performing the front!
