Anyone know of any Reporting Tools that are web enabled
I've got a small database (couple of thousand records) that a client wants to be able to access online to pull off some simple predefined reports (eg. table & graph). I've thought of Business Objects and some of the Cognos suite, but haven't used them for ages, and suspect they might be outside my budget cheers |

Remind me to kick you in the knee next Selkent Toady :P
Excel is not a database - hell Access isnt even a database ![]() And yes your suggested options are going to be too expensive. Cant think of any other options rather than a bespoke solution, which unfortunatly I am not able to offer my services to do at the moment. Maybe someone else will have a better idea. David |

There are some Open source Reporting tools that work with MySQL .
However: This is probably a bit heavyweight for what your doing, and may have more of a learning curve. It is all free though. I've not used them, and this is not really my area, so I can't offer any more advice. ![]() |

Now I'm sure I will be shot down here but Microsoft SQL Server has Reporting Services with it. I use 2005, much improved over 2003 and the Reporting Services are pretty versatile.
However cost and setup wise I have no idea, not my department. And to be honest its probably to heavyweight for a db with only a few thousand records, but worth a look none the less. |

Since you can get the data into any format you like, it would be reasonable to expect that you know someone that can knock together a PHP script for you.
Users click a link in a browser, bingo, report is spit out. PHPReportGenerator. Basically, you pass it the MySQL query you want to report on and a connection to the DB, it generates the report & spits it back at the user. You can also customise the look & feel of reports with it too. Gratis, Nodda, Nothing, and best of all, free ![]() I thank you! ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() Wouldn't want to disappoint you. Yes, this would do the job perfectly and easily. But costs would be between £1K and £4K for a SQL server license. I looked briefly at the Pentaho business intelligence stuff for MySQL, and it seems not bad. This is more for the data importing / data transformation side but there are some reporting services built in. Not sure if it's got a Web server interface. A google of "MySQL open source web reports" returns a few likely looking hits, but like I said, I've got no personal recommendations. |
