Default What mods are worth doing?

HI
Im now the owner of a 99 sv650s. covered 13k and is fairly mint.
Im an in-experianced rider having not ridden since i crashed a zxr 400 when i was 18, which was 8 years ago, but im back on a bike after to way too long and loving it.
As long as its dry ill be using it to commute to work, which involves 15miles of quiet twistys with a couple of small villages thrown in

Ive been reading old posts on upgrades people have been making and id like to know which ones are worth doing and why? is the stock equipment really that bad?

Rear shocks? zx 6/zx10 ect

Front end swaps?

Exhaust - M4 reads good on jhs racing site

Double bubble screens, what one

and generally anything else that would be usefull to know please.

Its coming up to major service time soon, how much should I expect to pay for this?

I look forward to your sugestions

Mudguard extender on the front.

And precisely nothing else - spend your money on petrol.

In terms of value Kwak shock (£50)and Change fork oil(£10) cant be beaten.Fork springs (£60) if you are a bit porky are good too.

I've had my SVS from new in 2001. No point throwing huge amounts of money at the SV but a little can go a long way.
The best value for money items IMO are front fender extenda (£20 tops), some silicone dielectric grease for the front plug cap (£3 Maplins), front fork springs and oil to suit your weight (£80), decent tyres when required, Scottoiler (£70), decent headlight lamps (Philips X-treme power or Osram Nightbreakers, £15 pair fleabay). Change from a couple of hundred (excluding tyres).
I fitted higher clip-on handlebars which can work out a bit pricey depending how you do it, but I wouldn't go back to stock ones now.

We need more female mods for this to get worthwhile.
