Default Oil smell but no leaks!

Hey guys, I have an SV650 K6.

About a year ago when I bought my bike when riding with the engine at normal operating temperature (90C) when sitting in traffic, I started smelling oil. It was due to the crash bungs being bent, oil was leaking from there. Removed that and put standard bolt and it stopped leaking/smelling.

But recently it started to "burn" oil again! There are no leaks around the filter, engine case, oil cooler radiator and the place where the crash bungs were. Also the exhaust gases look and smell alright. I have topped up the engine oil to the MAX line and after about 800 miles it is down at the bottom line.. This explanation might be a bit confusing so ask me questions, but please guys, help me... Any ideas of what the problem might be?

Interesting... What crash bungs are you using, got a picture of them?

What do the spark plugs look like? If oil is getting into the combustion chambers in any significant amount, the plugs will show it.

How many miles on the bike and what is the service history like? 800 miles F->L isn't great but my gixxer is 300 miles F->L, so there's your yardstick!

@squirrel_hunter
Crash bungs were bent when I bought the bike, it was a straight metal pipe through the engine case with bungs either side.

@wideguy
I am not sure, I will need to check them out when I have the time.

@fallout
Service history is partial, but I did the necessary stuff such as oil changes and so on. The oil filter has not been changed as far as I know. I will be changing that tomorrow. The bike has got 33k miles on it, I did 4.500 miles on it since january 2013 and It had no major service.

Are your crankcase breather tubes connected?

I'm still confused by this crash bung oil event. If its the middle mount (most likely place for them based on mine and others I've seen) then there is no good reason for oil to be behind that...
