One thing, wen ever you have to ride withPLOD always ask what the limits are. They will say either go for it or stick to the legal limits of the road.
Most want to get out and ride like a loon like we all do. |

The sv sure has a lot more low down compared with an entry level 4pot like a bandit but seriously the z750 has 40% more power and 35% more torque. Admitted I have never been on the kwak but the power/torque figures are near identical to my gsr and having rode an sv many times the gsr in terms of performance makes the sv feel like a toy. Maybe the gearing was throwing you off, I found the sv would ride around at 30mph and pull nicely but the z750 will be geared a lot longer. Last edited by grimey121uk; 08-07-12 at 04:08 PM. |

Oy!
I strongly resemble that comment! I can see the dealers point of view. The way it sounds, it would assure the bikes survive, but I can't explain the IAM riding style. Put it this way, I went to RIAT yesterday. From Dads to parked up at Fairford was 90 minutes, including the ten mile queue of cars. 80 miles. Fast isn't a problem. Fast in the wrong place is... It could have been a lot faster but I had a headache! Pete ![]() |

See, this is the age old argument...bhp vs what matters in real life...torque.
Big bhp figures will win you headlines but torque will win you races..all day everyday, especially in the twisties. Four pots have little to no torqueyness so the sensation of speed is lessened and it doesn't feel as quick. Much the same as Turbo Diesel cars feeling much more ferocious than their petrol counterparts. |

The torque band would be far more spread out though, surely, whereas on a v twin, like all V engines, it's immediate.

The image below is stolen from the GSR forum but it shows that the gsr makes more torque at around 4000rpm than an SV does at its peak around 7000rpm. (figures are taken from the rear wheel) ![]() I think the bike in this graph has had a power commander fitted, I know its not a kwak but i would imagine the figures would be similar. I think the main differance is a twin gives you some drama in the low end where as the 4 cyl are so smooth with the drama coming in towards the top end I don't want to sound like I'm SV bashing as they are awesome bikes and in terms of noise I will always prefer a twin but I the fact is the huge increase in power and torque the z750 will always win in straight line speed. Having done more than one test ride...
The ones with the Police can be interesting. It depends on the Officer and you as the rider. Only once have I had a ride where the Officer prevented me from enjoying the bike, all other times have been good fun and in my experience the boys from the MET have the most interesting approach to these rides. So long as you ride responsibly then its not an issue. But speaking to the Officers they can understand the issue but usually they are there to do some rider assessments and promote BikeSafe and advanced training (though I'm not sure why your IAM rider behaved as you described, did you ask them about it?). Thus you only get out of it, ya-da-ya-da. However if you want to just take the bike out for a test, go down to your local dealer and ask. Thats what I do... |

The kwak has more low down torque and more power, so I don't understand how you can say 4 pots have no torque? |
