I have a suggestion...

Decide on the price you want for the item, decide how much the postage will cost. Take that figure and decide what the listing, final valuation fee, and PayPal fee will be. Add this number to your original price and round up to a nice looking number and list it for that amount.

If you want to take offers out side of eBay you apply the same logic. Find a minimum sale price and add any fees on to that and do not go below it.

People will always make what some call cheeky offers. I've received some and made some (successfully I might add). But I find its easier using the make an offer feature inside of eBay as you will know all the fees and your bottom line (see above) and the buyer will just see the one final price of the item and P&P so there is no negotiation required over fees.

Talking of ebay plonkers (I'm sure this is you winding me up matt!)
A chaps just emailed me saying can he come round and give me 80x the asking price tonight, I said yeah come round and have a look I won't take it off ebay just yet though. He emailed me back saying 'okay I needed them tonight, thanks anyway'. I said 'yeah that's fine, all I'm saying is I won't remove the listing until you've visited and bought them tonight'.
no response

Then again with a daft name like nathaniel...

grrr, been hassled by someone for ages for something I'm selling - finally agreed to sell it them early (they've bid on it anyway) got their email address to send them a paypal invoice then got a bit paranoid after seeing paypal's "we don't protect sellers" disclaimer ; googled their email address and they're treasurer of a synagogue in Illinois ....or have hacked someone's account.

I tested the theory on all my latest listings y adding a "make offer" button but people still ask if you'd accept an offer outside eBay to save fees and get them an even lower sale price.

This person was hassling me to do that, but I just said it's extra fees and I can't guarantee they'll click it.
they're the only watcher and bidder and paying about what it's worth so I can't see me doing any harm in ending early

**** it I'm tempted to risk it, they reckon they're in Bristol. How little protection do I actually have from them requesting a refund via paypal?

aw man ebayers are stupid, uncourteous, uneducated fools.

Just got a question regarding another item

"do you have a box"

I replied "yes". If he wins I'm 100% supplying him with a cricket cup.

If you ask them to send the money as a gift they're unable to reclaim it. You'll get the full amount too, ie you wont pay fees on the transaction.
