Right its alway unfortunate when this happens but frankly there is not a lot you could do unless you are watching everyone that walks through the door like a hawk.

I am surprised that you don't have CCTV (though 9 times out of 10 the quality is so crap I couldn't even pick myself out let alone my own mother) as there is a lot of high value merchandise in a shop like yours. However I am slightly more surprised that the Police will be coming down (unless of course its in a shopping center and there is a retail crime initiative) as basically you have nothing to say other than this when missing at some time on this day.

At the end of the day you shouldn't worry about it to much as its not yours. If your boss kicks of ask him for CCTV a uniform guard and at least one extra member of staff. Its not your job to be a security guard. Though if they had it away easy then they will be back.

If you do see anyone acting suspiciously my advice is to approach and ask if they need any help (all part of customer service) if you still have a bad feeling about them tidy the racks next to them until they get the message, but never put yourself at risk.

Lets be realistic CCTV does not have to be poor quality these days and it does not have to cost the earth.
A good detterant is a camera pointing at the entrance and a monitor displaying that image. IE the person entering the shop can clearly see their image on the screen and are aware that they are being watched.

I don't see this as a big deal....sure its not ideal some scrote stealing a jacket, but at the end of the day it wont cost HG anything(if insured) or if not only the cost price that they paid for it.

I can't see how paws/other bloke can be in any way be blamed....im sure HG can afford to take the hit....i wouldn't worry about it

im with ASM. they account for losses such as this, sure its a bummer but lets be honest it coulda been worse. numbnuts gets seen about to knick it, you or other lad approach him and he gets nasty, no doubt he'll have been carrying something, next thing you know we're reading about another stabbing or something equally awful

extreme, yes. but puts into context one x missing jacket
