Sorry Kitkat but I totally disagree. Whilst Im not suggesting being rude is the way forward as I think you shoul dbe polite unless given reason not to! I totally disagree that they are doing their jobs after all how often are car drivers pulled over just for a chat about their daft exhausts, speed, being on their phones, smoking etc? Exactly never. Car drivers only get stopped with a reason whereas it is seemed to be ok to pull bikers over just for the sake of it! |

I think what kitkat is trying to say there is they are probably doing as they are told by the powers that be, if that is to stop bikes then they'll stop bikes. So if that is the case then yes they are doing their job.

Gid - I'm down in Weston-Super-Mud now and again visiting the 'rents. Could you let me know of days, times, and roads they operate on so I know which ones to avoid. I've not seen any of this so my route is possibly off their radar, but wouldn't mind knowing.

Jeez, you guys whinge a lot! It's an injustice to be stopped for no reason and have your documents checked, yet if you get hit by an uninsured/unlicenced driver/rider, then you'd be the first to scream and shout about why these riders are on the roads!
This used to happen in London all the time - It's 5/10 mins stop - no big deal. Always friendly and courteous about it - just doing their jobs. You just need to live and let live sometimes. |

Got stopped in the middle of turning onto gunnesbury Avenue on the way to work once.... for a " safety survey" Got told my kit was good but I ought to be wearing better shoes which was fair enough...
Fortunately I wasn't told to turn off the engine or I'd have had to put my running shoes to good use running along the road to bump the bike which (apart from being akward due to the traffic being rather heavy) would have created altogether the wrong impression.. ![]() |

I had a mate who was a baker, consequently he would be on his way to work, when most people would be on their way home from clubs etc.
He was so fed up of being pulled, he went into the local polices station and asked for a permit to be out after dark. When told there was no such thing and to stop being a prat, he told them that if he got another of these, and handed over 4 producers for the one week, that he would make a complaint of harrasment. He was told there was a local initiative to cut down on bike theft, but his information would be passed to the relevant people. It was a further 3 months before he got his next producer. So complaints or the threat of them can work

I'd like to know what the queue was for that the original poster had to join?
At the end of the day if I am going about my lawful day to day business using a motorcycle I don't expect to be stopped without good reason and then have further time wasted. They can issue me a producer as I don't carry all my docs and then I will be on my way. If they want to hold me further then they can arrest me. I wouldn't expect them to stop my car on the way to work and make me pull off into a school and join a queue. The fact that in this situation he might have been on a bike and not travelling to his place of work should have no bearing on it. |
