Why are we even discussing this. I think we should adopt the authoritative nature of the last AR and enforce a decision on everyone.

Discussion over we are all going to Wales.

Because I don't want to go to Skem again.

please please. I will be good. don't send me back there

Don't mean to put a damper on it, but trying to help the mods out a bite, can we please try and keep this as chat free as possible and just stick to discussing the proposals.
I keep getting drawn into chat myself, so am as guilty as anyone.....but I do think we need to behave as much as we can!

Ta peeps........I think we'll need an AR10 megathread at some point....lol

No seriously, as i'm sure has been said already many times. THE AR IS FOR THE FORUM MEMBERS, IT'S FOR YOU GUYS TO PROVIDE IDEAS, LOCATIONS, DATES etc......AND THEN FOR YOU GUYS TO VOTE ON THE PROPOSED IDEAS AND DATES.

This sounds a great proposal to me, perfect venue and glorious roads, my only reservation is the length of the rideout ( @190 miles). With the number of riders needing to be fed and watered with 3 stops it's going to take a fair time out of the day, i would say al least 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Depending on start and finish times this may make for a long day. Personally i would try to keep the rideout to 130- 150 miles to make it less of a rush at the stops. Just a small thought and not knocking anything at all as it has obviously all been planned brilliantly.

Daryl.:D

i know, what you are saying, and im looking into shorting it, its a great route, and i dont realy want to cut any of it out, but i understand it may be a bit far, tis early days yet, there will be lots of time to fine tune the smaller details........... IF we win

I agree with Carty, I think if you are planning 3 or more stops then 190 would be too far, but, with only 2 I think it is maneagable. Also, there are not as many junctions and traffic bound areas as some rideouts, so the ride tends to progress smoother with less interuptions.

I do also think the addition of a food van would be a much more preferable idea. They are perfectly catered for feeding 100 people without sniffing for air. In previous years some have been a little disappointed with how much they get for their money.
With a food van, you get it on tap, and you get what you pay for.

But would they be at it all day? or just at certain times? Either way.....make sure its a definate feature at the AR, its a winning touch :-)

I don't do the rideout anymore, its the second year in a row, too many bikes for my liking.
I just go to sit in a field and feel relaxed and occasionally get a tan or get wet*, have a few beers, play with dogs, kids and get to know some nice people:smt060

as you very well know :D, i meant it's better to ride to a destination for whatever reason ie coast, mines, scenic railway perhaps, than ride around all day without visiting anywhere, so then when asked you can say we went to xxxxxx instead of, oh nowhere just rode around a bit and don't even know where we went, hope that clears this up. allthough i hear it can be good for getting your knee down, circles that is. ;)

In AR speak, yup. But i did do the cunning thing of turning up at the lunch stop at Finchingfield this year.

TBH, it maybe called the 'annual rideout', but I couldn't give a monkeys! I decide if I do the riding bit, and I aren't infleunced by anyone......so if it were in Wales I might decide to do it on the day.....but then again maybe not!

I honestly dont think it matters one hoot whether you do or dont do the rideout.

But I honestly think it is an integral part of the weekend, I'm not so sure what I'd do all day on Saturday the idea of sitting in a field / pub all day and getting drunk doesnt really appeal I can do that at home or in one of the local pubs.

I personally like the rideout element, it gives me a chance to have a ride around in an area that I might not normally ride...

Or, if it's in wales, come with me and the dogs to play in the river, walk around the woods, go into Hay-On-Wye, back to the site, go to the swimming pool and have a swim/relax for an hour, shower and be all chillaxed for when the bikers get back!

BELFAST 2010 (cant be called ar10 as thats a firearm)
I was thinking here

To be held at the famous HMP MAZE

Located in mid Northern Ireland surrounded by rolling hills and breath taking scenery
This beautiful site has a long and colourful history and was a particual favorite holiday home for now goverment ministers Gerry Adams and Martain Mc Guniness

With the luxurious accomodation, broken down into H blocks each wing has full self catering facilities, gym, tv room, and rec hall, with spacious outside play areas which are fully secure for your childrens safety needs

We are also very proud of our large collection of local artwork and "murals" which we have in each block on various themes including work from new artist Micheal Stone whos work has recently be sold and displayed at the Tate Art Gallery

A safe and secure stay is assured by 24hr security guards using cctv and veiwing towers to but you and your loved ones at ease

There is a large theatre with full stage on site which is excellent for presentations or events, of particular note was the rave reveiwed LOVE ACROSS THE BARRACADES production with lead man Jonny Adair

*use of any equipment or entertainment is free but we do ask you to make a small donation to one of our two "Causes" the indipendant irish orphans fund or the young marching bandsmen of ulster foundation

The rooms themselves are comfy and minimulist in styling with a two door system for privacy or full veiw options

The mess hall serves late and is a great place to meet new and diverse residents from other blocks, full roomservice is avalable in our special h3 block for people not wishing to mingle or just prefer there "alone" time

On site activities include
simple metalwork for beginers, this course prides itself on using no specialised equipment just what is available around the home

basic home brewing, which takes mostly thing that you would genrally throw away but turning them into some homemade ales and spirits of vairious distinctive flavors
pre brewed available from H5

self defence courses, trained by our resident instructors who all have been noted by the goverment and various other groups to be some of the best in there respective disiplines

also various other electrical, wireing, installation and amourer day coures available throught the year

We have had 1000s of guests thought the years and have accomodation for hundreds on site so we are sure to have a place for your group

Due to the goverments "Good Friday Agreement" our open door policy is second to none with continued repeat visitors to our humble abode

H.M.P Maze
A place to get away from it all

There are coastal rides and country lanes. Campsites, pubs clubs and many music venues. Lots of history here and plenty to do.

as you very well know :D, i meant it's better to ride to a destination for whatever reason ie coast, mines, scenic railway perhaps, than ride around all day without visiting anywhere, so then when asked you can say we went to xxxxxx instead of, oh nowhere just rode around a bit and don't even know where we went, hope that clears this up. allthough i hear it can be good for getting your knee down, circles that is. ;)
I would rather ride good roads to a Gas Station than have a 'destination' that I can tell my Grandchildren about.

I am after a woman and When you find her, can I watch? ;)

I would say the AR is more about us making our own entertainment than watched laid on stuff, as well as it being an exclusive event for Org members.

But you've given away your true location now ;)
I also don't think the AR going from Essex this year to Kent the next would go down well with Orgers in the rest of the country, or South Easters looking forward to a good travel to the AR.
But apart from that, you're welcome to post a proposal in the other thread

Anyone would be welcome to bring their own beer/cider so long as it didn't get taken into the bar. It would have to be free though. The hotel has a license to sell their own liquor, but I would imagine it would not cover the sale or even donations towards anything else brought on the premises by guests....that's just what I remember from my time working in hotels. Also.....anything that is done for charity is just going to cause potential disagreements over which charity the money goes to etc.

Why don't we have a competition and if the peeps taking the home brews are ok with not being paid......then we'll do some sort of mini prize-giving.....minus prizes...lol.

Of course, if anyone wants to arrange to buy home brew off another orger, that would be their own business....so long as it was not something arranged as part of any AR. That way.....it can't be illegal or break licensing laws......just peeps doing each other a favour....know what I mean;-)

Hell yes... it would be a cracking ride from Hay to my house in Shrewsbury, and we could upset my senile and crabby neighbour again:cool:. 100 bikes outside her house. We had 50 last time, and she went berserk. 100 would do the job nicely!

If we get the vote and you can make it....you won't be disappointed, either with the roads or the stops.....trust me ;-)

Well you had better get your presentation ready then!

What's to present? NZ is amazing! Great roads, great locations, enough sheep to keep Hovis busy for a year...

You can all come and stay at mine!

If I can get hold a bike in December Ill meet you in the Tongariro region... NZAR01??? :D

Hmm, that's about 300km from me. At the moment, my only road-legal bike is my enduro and riding a mere 80km on that thing almost jeopardised any chance I have to father children!

I'd be up for a Taupo trackday though, so give me a shout around the time!

EDIT: to get back on topic... I vote for errrm. Ireland :)
