im intereested to see how all this is going to come together, the yellow tank, the white and yellow nose, the blue mudguard... the list goes on!
Bear in mind that you spray from lighter to darker so what is white now might not be white in the future, etc. ;)

How long before the finished article? the suspense of it will look like is driving me nuts!
Are you making it up as you go along or is there a master plan at work here?
Well rescuing the yellow had put me back about half a day and i'm in no hurry to mask ove rit again today in case it does it again.
The tricky bits are next. Lots of positive and negative masking, with tight angles and curves. Might leave it till tomorrow to make sure everything is dry. I wish I had a big oven :)

OK, I'm fitting this around work today so it might be a bit on and off.
orange has started :)
Guess the piece?...

And the camera doesn't do this colour justice! its even nicer in the flesh! ... Isn't it gordon/ :D

More soon...
ooohhhhhh This orange is tricky! Its light coats only as it's a runner! :)
And what is it with the tape and the yellow paint? its not happening on any other colours!
Anyhoot...

Bloody tape! Can someone please explain why the stick on the masking tape prefers to stick to the yellow paint rather than to the bloody tape? Its not happening on the blue or white! Grrrrrrrr
So what gets masking tape glue off paint without damaging paint? I'm thinking electrical cleaner.
next bits done...

This might look pretty cool when its done.
Its a pain in the ****! I wish I'd left it white! :D
Still most of it to do!
... if the tape pulls the orange off, I'm going to smash it to pieces! :)

C
What tape are you using? Can you not stick it down onto a jumper or something before hand, and get some fluff and lint stuck to it.
Takes the edge off it but leaves it sticky enough to not let paint under...
Thanks Binky but I'm using the sofa to do that and its still not working. maybe the sofa needs more dust on it :)
I'm going to try electricians tape on the yellow bits. and I've got some meths for the bits that are stuck.

C
What tape were you using before?
Fine line tape for the very edge and then just plain old masking tape.
C
Well, thats it for today! Its just too damp for any more but the last tail piece came out really nice (so far, lots more to do) so this'll be the one that graces the bike...

Just winding you up mate. It looks belting
Is there anymore colours to go on?
Okey Dokey! Last bits.
Dissapointingly, overnight the paint has decided to emphasise every last little scratch that was on the panels and they now look like grand canyons. I can only presume ther's a reaction between the grey primer I used to fill them up and the following coats. Its only in the areas where the grey lines were. Good job its only a race bike. :)
So here we go with the last coats...
The tail unit with its first dusting of blue...

Still wish the yellow was brighter...

Hey Carl - like the warning triangle on the back, but really you're pi$$ing in the wind over this!
Get thisen to pebbledashing.com & select colours that clash with kitty litter at the circuits you play on ( else they'll never find you WHEN/if you bin it )
Bit of glue & a shovel of gravel & you're fit to go again. ;)
And the finished bike looks like.................

+1, the body work is done now right? I wanna see it!!!!
Nope, still not finished :)
As I look out the window a cow just blew past and I had to rescue the gazebo of doom from next doors garden yesterday. Its a tad gusty. :)
So no spraying until things calm down.
Stickers have arrived though and they can go on as soon as I have time to scratch my ****.
Forks due back at the end of this week so whole thing finished by middle of next week :) (oh god, please let that be true!) :)

So the garage of mayhem is working triple time this weekend.
Mate your going to be knackered by the end of it
Well, the gazebo of doom is no more! I've just found it 5 gardens down completely wrecked!
and the garage is full to capacity so no spraying in there.
I need a plan C :)

Where the hell did I put the front wheel spacer? I can't even remember what it looks like! :)
Panic over! Found it!
All wheels now balanced...
Just need the fork things now ;)
Sticking stickers on all afternoon :)
OK, so who moved the pinstriping? I know where it used to be! Not there now.
Well, I finally got th camera working but I'll be buggered if I can find the pinstripe stuff. I'll get some more tomorrow before heading to Scotland.
Anyway things are starting to come together and the stickers went on this afternoon in between shouting at the telly. that was some good Ruby that was!
So Stickers going on...

i must say for a home spray job thats very good, think you should get some proper spray stuff, gun's and the like
Thanks Dude! Its in the plan and it'll be even better when its finished. :)
So the seats (the extremely small seats that are quite possibly going to do me a mischief!) are cut to basic shape. They'll now be sanded to a beeeeutiful final shape and formed in an oven and finally stuck on after the clear coat.
But every step is a step closer...

Rust or nut marks?

Well, with the Van waiting on parts, I'll be packing a load of bits and bobs tomorrow and then finishing the spraying on Thursday so the whole lot will be going on on Friday.
Then I'm just waiting for the Voodoo to arrive and it's done :)
... a weeks set up time and we hit the track. Excited? Oh yes!
C
Typical! You get an hour to kill and can't spray becasue the air has turned to water! Pea-souper here today!
However, I did drill out and tap the holes for the tail unit as one had stripped. Note to those who tap holes Buy GOOD taps. They make a huge difference.

Whats the meetings your doing then B?
First up is the test day at East fortune on the 27th, then Elvinton on the 3rd and Croft on the 7th, 8th and 9th.
I've been reliably informed by a scruffy looking Yorkshireman with spanners as fingers that the Forks are arriving very soon :)
and I'm presently fibreglassing but have to keep coming indoors for a breath as its still underwater outside. :)

I know the number boards are supposed to be matte but sod 'em. There's a big crackdown on numbers this year from all the North east clubs so this is my little thumb in the eye. Its petty beurocracy and mine will be absolutely perfect in every fashion except they're shiney. If they stop me racing for that, I'll be quitting the club and taking my 3 grand race fees elsewhere! :)
