Bees stings are acidic and wasps are alkali.

Hence the little ditty I was taught as a kid for what to do if you get stung

Vasp for vinegar <that's a wasp with a silly accent ; )
Bee for bicarb

I think the fact that you say it but you know the sentance isn't correct is what made it stick in my mind. Of course a year or two after learning this I found I was allergic to bee stings so it changed for me:

Vasp for vinegar
Bee for 999, come quick he looks like the michelin man

It is part of the UK!!!

which is what I said

Northern Ireland isn't in Great Britain, its in the United Kingdom of Great Britian and Northern Ireland.

Not all bees die after stinging, the the queens and worker Bumblebees can sting more than once as their sting is not barbed like that of the honeybee. Its smooth like a wasps.

The reason a honey bee dies after she has stung a human is that the barbs in her sting and our relatively elastic skin prevent her pulling the sting out. Eventually she will either be swatted to death by whomever she has stung, or she will pull so much that the sting, poison sac and part of her abdominal contents will be pulled out of her body and left hanging and she will fly off to die. If the sting and poison sac are left behind hanging out of your skin the muscles will probably still be attached to the poison sac and will still pump poison for a while, so you should pull the sting out. Some say it is best to pull, other say you should use a downwards brushing motion.

oh and male bumblebees cannot sting as they do not have a sting. In males the part of the body that becomes the sting in females becomes the genital capsule in males, so is used in mating.

Japanease scientists have discovered algae that produce oil. The Algae, called Botryococcus braunii, which given enough carbon dioxide and light excretes oil which floats to the surface in test tube experiments. The oil can then be converted into plastics and fuel using the same techniques as for crude oil.

The Japanese government is investing in further research, as currently although oil yield is high versus other crops such as rapeseed it would require a field of algae the size or Yorkshire to provide sufficient fuel for Japan!!

Stott Hall Farm which is located between the east and west bound carriageways of the m62 on saddleworth moor is known to have existed as far back as the 18th century. The road forks around the farm for engineering reasons owing to the surrounding area's geology, though a local myth persists that the road had to be split because the owners refused to sell the land during its construction. This is not the case since the owners could have been obliged to sell via a compulsory purchase order. Due to its remoteness in the Pennines, the farm is often nicknamed as "the Little House on the Prairie", and is often used as an unofficial service station for stranded motorists...

The interesting fact is true but the road constructors did offer a substantial amount of money for the house as they were effectivey surrounding the house with motorway. They refused to sell and they reached an agreement that they would stay as long as the road people built an underpass for them to reach the house.

The land where the fields are next to the farm house (inbetween the motorway) has a distinct problem with sinking. Even if the house was demolished, the contractors had planned to split the carriages anyway. Just not to the extent that it has been done.

they've done this with the m1 between junction 36 and 37 - stepped the carriageways on different levels - the southbound carriageway is about 20 feet higher than the northbound which is immediately next to it...

IIRC, that wasn't done due to subsidence issues though. That was done as a cost saving exercise mainly. It avoids re-routing the carriageway without having to build the land up for the northbound carriageway.

If you build the land up, but the underlying land suffers subsidence, you have a major headache, especially if it's a motorway you're building.

Yoshiro Nakamatsu the Japanese inventor is one of the greatest minds in the human history. With over 3000 patented inventions Yoshiro received Nutrition Nobel prize for photographing and retrospectively analyzing every meal he has consumed during a period of 36 years. His most creative time is between 12am and 4am and he never sleeps more than four hours. He loves to invent underwater with his special waterproof Plexiglas writing pad. He said that "oxygen is the enemy for the brain". Archimedes, Michael Faraday, Marie Curie, Nikola Tesla and Yoshiro Nakamatsu were chosen by U.S. Science Academic Society as the five greatest scientists in the history. Yoshiro has an age goal to live over 144 years and every day he eats a special mixture of dried shrimp, seaweed, cheese, yogurt, eel, eggs, beef, and chicken livers-all fortified with vitamins. ...
Some of his inventions: floppy disk, taxicab meter, CD, DVD, digital watch, Cereberex chair, Love Jet 200 etc.
Smart A*se!

The floppy disk was invented by the team at IBM, lead by David Noble, in 1969.

CD's were invented by Philips, and first shown to the public in the Netherlands, 8th March 1979.

DVD's were a collaboration between Philips & Sony (then called MMCD's) - in 1993.

The first dual-layer DVD's were actually two separate DVD's glued together. The design team had to slow the drives down as they had issues with the discs separating at high speed & shattering inside the drives.

Dual-layer DVD's were developed in 1997, but it wasn't until late 1998 when they managed to resolve the shattering issues.

Yoshiro Nakamatsu invented the basic technology behind those, yes. But he didn't invent the devices. Sorry, I'm an IT pedant. :)
