:pWhen a female horse and a male donkey mate, the offspring is called a mule, but when a male horse and a female donkey mate, the offspring is called a hinny. When a male zebra and a female donkey mate the offspring is called a zedonk or zebrass. All of these resulting offspring are sterile (can't have babies).:p

That, and the fact it didn't work! One of my favourite quotes:

"I don't think the bromide had any lasting effect, the only way to stop a British soldier feeling randy is to load bromide into a 300 lb shell and fire it at him from the waist down."

A small tenebrionid beetle living in the Namib desert can secrete wax in response to increased temperatures and humidity which spreads out over its body to create a film for reducing water loss. This idea was adapted by researchers in 2005 and led to the creation of "nano-wicking systems" which attract water droplets and by reducing the contact angles of the droplets with the surface a thin film across it is formed. And thus "anti-fogging" agents are born :-D

Still makes no difference. The entire frame of reference is rotating - the earth, the air, etc - and its not accelerating, therefore it can be considered stationary. It will not affect the bullet whatsoever.

That is not what affects the bullet.
The effect comes from the difference in rotational speed where the objects inertia goes someway to offset the force of gravity on it.

2 objects - the earth and the bullet. Difference of rotational speed is the same regardless of which direction you shoot.

So you shoot east; rotation is effectively faster.

F = m v^2 / r .... v gets bigger, F gets bigger, force required to hold same arc is bigger, only force there is weight = mg.

Shoot west; rotation is effectively slower. v gets smaller, acceleration due to gravity is offset less. Trajectory is shorter.

You are correct that dV is same either way, but the sign of the difference does matter even though v term is squared.

As I understood it, a curvy gun would be something like a Blunderbuss (http://blindkat.hegewisch.net/pirates/blunbuss.html), where the pipe the bullet comes out of curveswards. Rubbish idea!

Where as a pointy gun like a barrett (http://www.inetres.com/gp/military/infantry/rifle/M107.html) has a nice pointy end that fires a bullet to where you want it.

Yet again, more evidence why a pointy is best! :smt019

I know why it takes 25seconds for the experianced guys.
they know its quicker to shoot tracers and adjust than it is to get out ya calc pad and pen and work out all the other crap.

 that doesn't really work as tracers are lighter than normal bullets (I think they put 1 tracer in every 3 rounds), probably only work in the dark and the target will have taken cover by the time you adjust.

as for tracer i used 1 in 5 in 4 out of 10 mags cos trust me when youve got a target you want the good news to be fully charged and effective
