Don't think I changed mine when I swapped the headers over, because I didn't remove the stubby connector pipe. The rear header clamps to a a stubby connector pipe to the exhaust port.

If you haven't taken it off, then it should be fine, otherwise its a pig of a job.

So if it ain't broke then don't fix it.

As Maviczap said if you haven't removed the rear stub then you don't need one. However if you have...

On my Curvy I had the tank off and moved the rear coil off of its mounting so I could get to the bolts better with a ratchet spanner. Just make sure the stub is seated properly in the recess before tightening it up. As a little note the clamp on the pipe joint was quite corroded on mine and I had to cut it off to remove it. I then tidyed it up by grinding it off at the weld and used stainless exhaust clamps to replace them. I also use a little grease when putting the new gasket in to help hold it in place while moving the exhaust about.

I would imagine the principle would be the same for a Pointy but I've not changed the exhaust on one of these yet.

I just dig mine out with a thin screwdriver and a couple of gentle taps with a small hammer under the edge of the gasket

My K3 is blowing at the gasket/clamp between the pipe and "stub". Audible phut-phut but not the kind of noise you get from a proper hole.

Is this an MOT fail? Or is it an "advisory" and at the testers descretion?

Well i have to say that was pretty easy... Just the front gasket was blowing making it backfire everytime i let gog of the throttle... Undid the 2 front bolts and got just enough play to scrape out the old bits of gasket(O ring) and clean it up with a screwdriver and wire brush... placed the new one in place with the aid of a bit of grease and tightened up the bolts... Turned it over and she sounds great now... Oh and had to take her for a spin too
