Hey don't then!

Sleep under the stars, eat what you can find and stay in the same clothes.

No probs

Dave! Get on with it! I'm doing it as we speak! Man up!!

Dave20046
29-07-09, 07:20 PM
gah it's a bit effortful, think I might try messie's advice :D
I'm trying to compile a list - so far I have 'spare gloves'.
Do you reckon I'll need trainers? I managed to go the whole GM in bike boots. (although naturally you can as they are goretex afterall * dances eyebrows impressively*)

Spiderman
29-07-09, 07:25 PM
Dave its easy, couple pairs of extra boxers or undies of your preffered frillyness, couple pairs of socks. 3 T shirts and i skiny jumper kind thing for when its chilly at night... before the alcohol warmth kicks in, spare gloves if you have room.

Toothbrush, deodorant, soap, small towel.

Done.

Tent and sleeping bag are optional depending on how well you think you may do with some of the lovely ladies attending ;)

Paul the 6th
29-07-09, 07:25 PM
Feck off! Lol good old goretex

SoulKiss
29-07-09, 07:31 PM
Woo hoo. That's me finished work.

Got tomorrow off to prep the bike and get it loaded up.....

.... then it's the small matter of a 486 mile trip to get to the campsite on Friday.

Happy Days. :D

Are you going to be the only north-of-the borderer-who-still-lives-north-of-the-border coming down?

Dave20046
29-07-09, 07:39 PM
Right trainers won't fit but so far I have tent and clothes crammed into a topbox and sleeping bag, tent poles and wash bag in the tailpack. I'm thinking I may have to lose the tent poles if I want trainers.

Ooh there's a plan , although Paul's already rejected me from sharing with him and the AR hasn't already begun :(

It would appear so. There were a few hopefulls but peeps have dropped out over the last wee while.

Spiderman
29-07-09, 07:45 PM
Secret to fitting trainers in...stuff them full of small items such as pants/socks and place them in the base of topbox first in the same way you'd find them sitting in a shoe box. Then pack everything around them :)

Bungee the tent poles to the outside of the tailpack then you'll have a little more room and as Spidey says stuff your trainers with small items.

I also find rolling stuff like t-shirts etc up seems to make them fit into little gaps better than folding them does.

cheers for the tip about filling shoes/trainers with stuff but I've already put the shoes in my topbox and then ratchetted the tent, sleeping bag, roll mat and camping stool to the back of the bike = no way into the topbox now! A R S E!!!!

oh well, time to cram my fancy dress and other items in the tank bag

Spiderman
29-07-09, 08:25 PM
Rolling is also the top tip for packing lots as Fizz says. Also means you have uniformly creased clothing so if it all looks as creased as the rest then none of it looks creased, right?

My logic and it works for me :)

Hey Caz, depending on what route you take "near" london you could always hook up with the soho lot at the Ace or Hatfield. Plan is to leave the Ace at 12.

See the soho section for the details if this works for you. http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=134969&page=5

I think its marvellous that Paul6th is making a wally of himself and dressing up. I also think its great that some of you guys are backing him up and making wallies of yourselves by dressing up too. Makes it a bit different doesn't it.

I also think more of you should do it....go on you know you lot want to....then I can laugh more when I see the pics after the weekend :-)

I know exactly what you mean about nightmare journey's to get to the venue.

I've worked out that if I want to get there at Midday Fri I'll need to leave by 11:15. I mean come on, that hardly gives me time to have breakfast !!

Sorry, couldn't resist it - but if it's any consolation it's exactly the same for us mainlanders when we go to The TT - only worse - 'cos the bl**dy ferry's always jammed full !!

"I can see Wales and big windmills in the sea, only one more hour of screaming kids to go"...

The b@stard rang me at 7am shouting "get up get up get up!" so I thought I'd slept in, then tried to sound awake as possible and told him I was out on the drive. Got off the phone, fell back asleep and be rang me again! This time to tell me the water was wet & the sky was blue. *******!

I had to buy a mammoth tent to house me, the other half and her boy, mum-in-law, little dog, mammoth dog, then i realised that the dog fills the entire boot, hence nowhere to put anything at all. Can't exactly stash a huge tent in the footwells.

So this little jaunt has turned out really expensive already! and I haven't even bought the beer yet!
