Chalk another 2+dog on the board,
MissLeedsmatt and myself will both be in attendance with our poochy. not entirely sure if I'm coming on the bike and or if I'm coming on the rideout. A long journey down followed by some boozing and then a ride out.... hmmm doesnt seem wise.
Anyways I'll decide all that closer to the time. But looking forward to seeing everybody now. Does the campsite need booking or is it arrive and pitch?

Save the boozing for the night after the rideout and bring your bike. you know you wanna ;)
And no i believe this year its just show up and pay on the day.

Considerations are that:
Abi's driving with tent and undesireables + dog. I'm riding down on the bike, alongside/not too far ahead (unless traffic).
We're extending the camping weekend into a camping week.
Weekend with you guys, then heading off into Kent to see a friend.
Night or so there then heading up to the midlands somewhere to camp a couple of nights.
Then travel past home for a weekend in the lakes. Turn round and return home. If I take the bike, thats a lot of leaving it unattended for long periods of time its a lot of riding with no restbite for a garage should it need repairs.
Lots to think about, depends on if any notheners are pootling down and fancy making the journey down a bit more fun.

I could be wrong of course - however if you have friends who are interested then it's not a difficult thing for them to sign up as members is it ?

I think the general rule of thumb is that established members of the forum can invite family and close friends that they know and trust to ride safely in the large group.
Please tell them in advance that this is far more of a procession thru the countryside than a spirited ride of any kind and anyone not riding appropriately for the group may be asked to leave the ride.

To echo this - If somone on the .org rides like an idiot - then it will be treated as "X the idiot".
If same idiot is not on the org but is your mate, then it "Kuze's mate, the idiot"
So think carefully about who you invite, cos its YOUR name/rep thats at risk.

I had my own hyperactive puppy (border collie) for 16years i'm sure i can cope :).
As for the riding style its cool i'm coming to meet fellow orgers (even tho i'm very new) and just to socialise with you lot and get away from it all for afew days. I've never done a "big procession" through the countryside so it should be interesting!
I've got the days booked off now so i just need a tent!

Good stuff. I'd suggest a minimum ofa 2 man tent if you're on your own cos al that gear, epecially if its wet (tho its no going to be as Messie has ordered the sunshine now), needs a fair bit of space.
I think someome started a "recommend me a tent" threat somewhere

Perfect suggestion tho storage on my bike is at a minimum, so probably wont be able to carry nething bigger than a 1man tent/coffin tent :D + my other crap.
I shall search for this tent thread as i have never bought one :).

My current biking tent recommendation
packs down to 43cm x 13cm x 13cm - or 1.5' x 6" x 6" and weighs 2Kg
I have a previous model but similar tent - been good for 5 years + now, so while its not the cheapest, it will last, and is easy to carry.

Take less cr*p ;)
I got enough gear for two people into a tailpack and tankbag for AR06 and that included a cooking stove and tins of sausages and beans...
If your careful how you pack and only take what you need and not what you think you need you'll be surprised how little stuff you actually need to take and how little room it takes up...

There was very little difference in size between the 1 man and 2 man tents i looked at and only about .5kg difference in weight. It really does make all the difference to your comfort tho so well worth trying to get it on the bike somehow.

After a weekend out with the misses buying some random camping gear for a trip next weekend we stopped off at Mitchells camping Wakefield and bought a new tent. When I say tent I mean more of a fold away house as its 7.5mx2.5m and I was just wondering if any of the families who are coming will be bringing anything similar. We're turning it into a week long holiday so ill be parking the bike inside when we are at the other site and no other bikes are around.

You must have read my mind!
Looked at one in a local camping shop and theirs was about £30!!
Don't be too excited about the ALDI self-inflating mat. I've got one, and although it's cheap, it's no Thermarest.
I've just spent £25 on one of these (http://www.shopwiki.co.uk/_Ultralite+Self-Inflating+Mat) mats and a new down bag for use on the bike, and it's a much better mat which packs up smaller - worth every penny.

I will also be on an airbed - but the problem I find with them is they raise you so far off the ground the the tent starts getting narrower at that height - can't stretch out so much.
I'll also have a big pump if anyone wants to use it please ask me there :)

I looked at the Lidl one today and its as Hovis described it, friggin huge!!! About a foot longer than my tent it, lol.
I was ok without one last year so i'm sure i'll be fine this year.
Well I went to Aldi after work today and got one of the self inflating thingies. I agree it's big, but it's smaller than the blow up bed I've used in the past and I don't have to blow it up, or wonder why I'm on the ground in the morning cos it's gone down again!
And anyway, I'm going to take all I need at AR09 in the car!!
