erm, change of direction a bit but how do you carry camping gear on the bike?

Mine has a roofrack. No, seriously! I got a damaged pillion seat (£5) and ripped the cover and foam off, then bolted (50p) 2 lengths of ally strip (£1) across it (originally I used wood, but it looked a bit silly). Perfect for bungeeing stuff to, tents etc. I've got a top box as well for the rest of the stuff but a Renntec Sportsrack or similiar is another good way of transporting stuff.

http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i264/Northwindlowlander/IMG_0883-1.jpg

One thousand miles without anything falling off last year, not too bad considering I can't usually load a supermarket carrier bag without putting the yoghurt under the potatoes. I was travelling a bit heavy this year though with, among other things, an exhaust pipe for 21Quest and various other bits and bobs for people

Yeah there were a few cars last year, and a minibus for stuff courtesy of the Apes, although from what I understand that won't be there for 09? Could be wrong though.

Some people go by car, usually they are someone's 'other half' and there is a bike involved somehow or other. Most, but by no means all, people go on the saturday ride. Some people are there just for the company, the experience and the laugh.
We have arranged pick ups of people's gear beforehand by car or, indeed minibus, but this is purely on a friendly basis. As far as I'm aware no-one charges for this. We're just mates helping out mates

In 06 I stayed for a couple of extra days after, probably will again this year if the weather's right (I planned to both of the last 2 years then got poured on and went home) It's a shame to travel all that way just to go back, you can't ride all the good roads and see all the good sights in a day.

This is what an AR looks like after everyone else leaves:
