Does anyone know of anyone round these parts who rent out bike trailers? Want to trailer the bike to a track day in Derbyshire as I really don't fancy the 200 mile return journey on a bike after blatting round a track all day.

Cheers,
Mark

PS. Had a day out today with Rapid. If you can afford it, it's a great way to get through several tanks of fuel.

injury_ian
28-06-10, 09:47 PM
B&B? thats what I did for rockingham.

or hire a van, probably as cheap as a trailer and you can legally do 70mph on Mway vs 60 with a trailer.

Mark_h
28-06-10, 09:52 PM
I'm already doing B&B night before but need to be at work following day so not possible. Hadn't considered the speed option when thinking bike v trailer.

How do you secure a bike in a van?

Nice 1 Sarah. Can I join in by saying I have a new house? Now in Esher, so I guess I am technically a Guildford boy now.

There are rumours that the regular meet is just one motorbike in a shed....have those Sausage boys been spreading lies again? If not, where and when.

It's working for a water company doing planning stuff, it's little bit more cash than I'm on now but most importantly it means that I won't have to reapply for my own job and work in Reading some of the time (which is what would happen if I didn't leave my current job).

Thank you. And congrats on getting a new house!

There aren't regular pub meets these days, they happen whenever anyone feels like organising them and bikes are very optional!

May day run to Hastings?

That's quite possible. The better half wants to head down to Durdle Door however I was thinking of going somewhere a bit closer such as Hastings. I'll speak to her when she gets in from work later.

I'm guessing most of the "what are you having for tea" chatter has moved to twitface or some similar social networking site leaving this channel just for bike related chat which unfortunately illustrates just how little bike related chat used to take place.

One of my many (and mostly broken already) new year resolutions was not to moan about stuff and instead do something about it so once the weather brightens up a bit I will post a few rides although they will typically be short notice and vague which does not suit all.

Bike took a short ride in Jan but it was cold, icy and totally unenjoyable so for now my two-wheeled action is twist'n'go flavored on my scooter to the station and likely to remain that way until the council put the gritters away.

Anyone else still mobile on bikes?

The TVSF is much the same - it's gradually died a death as the old faces have drifted away. Not just here, either - UKRM has suffered with activity shifting to Facebook.

I did 300 miles last weekend, running in the new toy, and today is the first day this year I've not commuted by bike - I don't mind cold and wet, but I draw the line at snow and ice. Hopefully it'll rain today/tonight and the snow'll be gone by tomorrow.

Maybe we should consider a remarriage of the GM & TVSF so the occasional ride-out or bike related conversation actually has an audience. Re-badge it the "Fleet Few" as it's in the middle and probably more reflective of the scale of active membership.

It's an idea, but we already get people grumbling in the TVSF that Maidenhead is too far to travel for a meet-up, let alone Hampshire.

Don't wish to spread nasty rumours but there is a possibility of a brief and sedate ride from Fleet to Alton and/or Loomies on Wednesday evening (May 2nd) unless it's chucking it down. Keep an eye here (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?p=2703344#post2703344)
