Oh and my wife doesn't know so keep quiet tomorrow if you're coming!
Oh that's got to be worth ... how much? :-k
& I've got a present for your old Hornet
Law is working i believe he is putting in an appearance tonight at Dan's and he will be at the meet on Monday

So for a minute perhaps the spotlight can swing away from Dan's "what shall I have in my sandwiches" forum.
Has anyone else noticed Law seems to have vanished? Is he in a bike polishing frenzy to aid the sale?
Does anyone want to go to the bother of getting a very nice wide-screen TV fixed before I take it down the tip? It's a 28" JVC. Got a fault on the PSU. Doubtless needs a 50p component but the insurance complany very kindly gave me a super sexy flat screen thing so I have no need for it but it goes against my principals to skip it. Free to collector.
Mark, thanks for the offer of the TV. I would be tempted but the wife has told me no new electrical stuff. I guess we don't really have the room. :(

Save for Suzuki's SV650, there hasn't been a new, true beginner's mount in quite a long time, certainly not an 1100cc model.
I think it's highly likely, if the given scenario were to occur.

Excellent pictures from the rest of the night by the way - just seen em :thumleft:
It's the peeps hiding in the background that really make this picture.
True.
I think you should use the above picture for the next eastern european email contact, with a tagline something like:
"Here me having much fun in the party. Have you like party fun also like me?"
Go for it.:D

I tried to add him as a friend yesterday but he has no "add as friend" button?
How's that happened?

I'm just in a bad mood because as soon as I lifted both feet onto the pegs this morning it rained harder than it had done all morning. Until I got off.
I'm going to an old folks home on Saturday. Regardless of the weather it'll be roasting inside.

Sorry dude but buying that bike would be a hug fall from grace. They are just way too blue oyster! :D
Law,
Given one of your reasons for getting shot of the SV was that you were not comfortable leaning it over, how is this to be improved with a heaver bike?
That said, big twins are great. (insert smutty fat lass jokes here).....

OK, by way of a Friday diversion.
Ever caught yourself making motorbike noises in the car or when walking along more importantly ever been caught doing the same by someone else?
Note: If you can legitimately say you were entertainig a three year old with the noises you can get away with it.
I get told off for leaning round corners in the car - does that count?

Only counts if you twist your wrist on the steering wheel while you do it. Double points if you try and get your knee down in the car.

My hard drive just fell offline with all our music and pictures on, and downloaded ...er....stuff.
Q1) Anyone recommend a sensible way of retrieving the remnants of the data? I've tried AnyReader but it just seems to hang.
Q2) Should I buy another 250GB IDE and drop it into the existing USB caddy, and await imminent failure, or buy a whopping NAS?
There. I have contributed. Happy?
PS. Happy Sunday to those riding. My plans have been changed for me :(
I might be at my first GM meet tomorrow, but don't tell Law, his thread is still a one-entry effort :)

Why the hell does my NTL broadband this past week work at night but not during the day???
Why the hell does my NTL broadband this past week work at night but not during the day???
Because you probably have the geek filter set to on. That way if it's a brilliant day outside it stops you spending time inside on the internet when you should be out enjoying the few warm, bright sunny days we get in this country.
Did anyone go out yesterday and if so did you notice how much wild garlic there is about at the moment? Actually overpowered the fields of oil-seed rape which is a good thing but had me feeling hungry all the way down to the south coast. If you pick the tender leaves of wild garlic it is great in sandwiches and in salads and free too :)

'cause your cable box or cable modem is getting too hot. Seriously, give it a dust and make sure it's got airflow.
Then buy yourself a new motorbike and get out while it's sunny :D
Hmm, I wonder what nice loan bike I can blag from Motoselect while mine is in for a service in a couple of weeks :D

Did notice the lovely aroma :)
Best thing about the rape fields is that you end up with lots of yellow bug splats all over the bike, I like to see the results of my bug murdering sprees :D

Quick question: which of the major 'A' roads south of Guildford (e.g. A281, A272, A286, A283 etc), contain the highest number of tight bends? :)
I want to wear out some sliders.
Do a track day you hooligan! :D Apart from roundabouts thre are not many roads that are all that great for kneedown. You might get the occasional little scuff but to really wear them out it's the industrial estate bends in Bracknell, roundabouts or trackday I reckon. Unless you go to Europe again where I found loads of decent roads for it.
So what happened to Summer then. I've got rides planned for Friday and Sunday now it's going to be raining. Not fair :(
Mind you if the sun had carried on into the weekend the tube netweok will have gone into melt-down, we'd have a hosepipe ban and communial showers on street corners. Mid you the shower idea may just catch on......
Saturday is cloudy - not going to rain... 13 degrees so a typical british summer day.
Can I put my thermals back in now pretty please?

If anyone needs any "simple" repairs to their riding gear, the fireplace shop next to the jukebox shop in Fleet does tailoring in a room out the back.
Got a jacket joining zip put in my leather trousers for a tenner and got them back in under two hours which is a lot better than the £20 and "about a week" from nine-lives in Aldershot.
Boring but potentially useful post.

1 hour left then i can go home at last
still at least its friday tomorrow
I went to sleep on a park bench for an hour (?) at lunchtime today.
I'm more tired now that I was when I left to go out.
Virtual Friday for me today. Off to Landedrod Wells (Wales) on the bike for 3 days tomorrow. Loads of twisty roads and a beer or three. Bike looks a bit odd with all the luggage. Now it's just the main decision left.
Leathers + packed waterproof over-suit or winter gear. All forecasts say something different. Do the waterproof covers stay on Oxford paniers? Guess I'll find out.

whassup Stu
Do the waterproof covers stay on Oxford paniers? No they rip to shreds if you do proper speeds.
I've just paid £65 to go to Europe next weekend & found out that the calipers I ordered from the States for my Ninja have been returned to sender so little hope of getting them in time. I have very little braking power left on my bike  My Sv is also knackered cos I tried to change exhausts
At this time of year it HAS to be leathers & over suit.
Have fun!
Only problem is my oversuit gives no grip on the seat so I't like sitting on a bike made of greased eels. Perhaps I could sit on some of the grippy rubber stuff Oxford gave me with the luggage. Or perhaps I should just enjoy the well lubricated eel experience.
Just had this email I just got back from the Post Office. UGH! UK
Customes returned the pacakge quoting "inconsistent
product description with contents". I listed the
contents as 'used motorcycle brake calipers'. I have
no idea what the hell they thought they were.
I told you'd that you'd get your calipers before your
trip and so you shall. I'm sending them UPS Expidited
so they arrive on Monday for you
So could be OK [-o<
Argh why are customs a law unto themselves The sender is obviously not going to get any compensation off anyone? I feel bad for him - cost of doing business I suppose?

If you do get stuck for calipers i've got some 4 pot SRAD calipers sitting here which should fit the 7r
I have 6 port calipers that would fit...but they are on my bike.

I could talk about my mega weekend of riding in Wales.....
If ever you want to practice going quick on perfect roads with no cars and wonderful scenary, head North west for a few hours.
Fantastic journey there through the cotswolds then some of the most amazing roads I've ever ridden.
Based in Llandrindod Wells. Did a great loop from L-Wells through the Elan valley (single track, sheep, hills) to Aberystwyth via devils bridge. All very technical little lanes.
Then back along the A44 to Newtown which is fast sweepers with no traffic which was fantastic and probably the best road I'd ever ridden until I got to Newtown and discovered the A483.
A483 from Newtown to Llandrindod is a truly amazing road. Bike did not drop below 7k rpm, I now have no chicken strips at all on the back and don't think I dared blink for about 30 miles.
So if you fancy a truly amazing weekend of riding, drop over the border into Wales. Best bit is that any good road is a national limit unless it really needs to be a 50 and all the really "interesting" bends have a warning so the rule of thumb is that if there's no warning just go for it. If it has a recommended maximum speed then doubling it it pretty much about right.
Lots of EU money has been spent on resurficing the roads and it seems all the locals must walk everywhere because all the roads are empty apart from lots of bikes making sprightly progress.
Fantastic weekend.

Eviltwin tricked me into swapping bikes yesterday so he got to ride my lovely zed and I had to ride his 'storm. Never again. Yuck yuck yuck.
Firestorms are lovelly. Propper bike that feels like you're riding a motorbike with a spirit rather than operating a machine.
OK so it shakes you to bits and is as subtle as a handgranade but I'd take agricultural spirit over refined technology everyday. Big V-twins are clearly the way ahead for real men!
Nice yellow storm on flea-bay at the moment......
I'd rather drive a proper tractor.
