As long as I have access to mains electricity!
Not sure if the French electricity is the same as ours, I'll check :D

I can't take any credit for the fitting it's being done for me, I'm too old, too lazy and it'd probably be finished by Christmas if I did it. Far too much going on without adding to my workload.
I've probably got to rip my mum's kitchen out, so some floor joists can be repaired, before we have to sell it to pay for her care.
Ripping out I can do well :p

You know you don't have to sell it in her lifetime. There's a bit of small print that the government forget to point out to you. So in theory you could rent her place out to pay for her care and keep the house.

Unfortunately she took out an equity release mortgage and didn't pay anything back, so that would need to be paid off.
If we could have clubbed together and bought it off her, then we could have rented it out, and have paid for her care.
But the settlement of this mortgage is out of our reach :-(

Today Nottinghamshire won the one day final at Lord's after Alex Hales got a record total of 187 not out. In 2006 Alex was one of our young academy players, he was just a kid. Today he broke a record that has stood since Geoff Boycott. Alex gave me his sweaty, champagne soaked shirt from the match. It'll go into the Lord's museum on Monday. In the meantime my office is smelling somewhat blokey.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170701/1ff24035a745d14ca417a00fab1c67db.jpg

This is a Crayfish Mound.
Found in the marsh next to our pond.
It looks like a chimney and is about a foot tall or more.
There were several small blue butterflies flying about but they would fly away whenever I got close all though I did manage to get one in this pic
Is the first year we have seen them as they are (were?) usually found
in the swamps and marshes in the eastern part of the state some 150 miles from here, where they have a much warmer climate.
However with the increasingly milder and wetter weather we are having here things are changing.
I find it almost unfathomable that any person could 'not believe in' climate change.
Can they not see the world changing in front of their eyes?
Have they no memory of how the weather was when they younger??

I'm as baffled as you Bill. The science is pretty solid on this as well, the figures speak for them selves. I wonder if it's partly that people don't want to believe it because it means a departure from the familiar ways of doing things. In the case of certain sections of industry it's just about greed and a complete disregard for the future.
Going to continue with this in a separate thread.

I should do really, but couldn't do with the hassle. I don't mind showing my pictures to other people, but selling is a different thing. I watermarked this one because people on Social media tend to steal images to use for their own profit.

Been putting a few running-in miles on the Trumpet today. Missed the showers thank goodness as with all that chrome it would probably take longer to clean it than I was out riding it.
Those of you that remember the silly road name game from a few years ago may recognise this one - I took a snap of my GSX beside the sign at the other end of this road for that thread. But, when I got there today I found that sign had vanished completely, so had to use this one instead. It was right next to a very busy kids playground so was careful with the angle I took this from but even so I was being watched suspiciously by some of the grown ups. Have they never actually seen what the sign says???

Ha ha ha. Love the bike. Fancied a bonnie for ages, but don't do the miles anymore to justify having one

Loving the Bonnie as well.
Nice bike!!! Would love to have one but these days what riding I do is all long distance touring.
However looking for some major changes in the next 3 or 4 months so who knows.
Am quite jealous for sure! Enjoy !!! She's a beauty!!!

Thanks both. It's a lovely bike to ride and really makes you take it easy snd enjoy the ride instead of trying to overtake every car in sight. Red line is at 7k but I am limited to just 4k for s bit longet yet. The standard pipes sound amazing as well.

I nearly bought a Bonnie after I passed my test but settled on an SV. I do like them but prefer riding my bike to cleaning it, so the GS suits me better as it's fine if it looks a bit grubby.
I finally managed a ride yesterday, just a quick 100 odd miles to Bury St Edmunds. I popped into a shop for a browse and upon leaving said to the nice chap serving me 'Right, best I collect my husband from the man creche'. He laughed and said it was the first time he'd heard the specialist beer shop over the road called that.

That's what appeals to me about that sort of bike.

Been to busy or tired to post up. This is why, today I finally finished emptying my mums house.
Sad, but to pay for her care, it has to be sold.

From last week at the Southern 100, but this Curvy race bike looked mint. Proper old school cafe racer style.

Thanks tough times, but in the end she's in a safe place, being looked after well, lovely staff.
Nobody thinks they'll be looking after their parents, as aren't our parents meant to look after us?

Had to do the same for my mum a few years ago.
Sad times and really makes you think about how fast your own life is flying by.
Hope you are doing well.
It can be a stressful time for everyone.

More of a random rideout pic but I'll stick it in here anyway. I've been to see Brill Windmill before but today I got a nice blue background and contrasting white clouds. I've now worked out that it would be better in the afternoon once the sun has moved around to be on the front - you can see it was just creeping round to get the tip of a sail. Good excuse to wander back, especially as my now-mounted spaznav took me through some quaint villages on the way that I'd never thought to link together for a route :)

Some nice architecture shots all - something I like to try my own hand at too every now and then. I also like finding 60's relics...
This one was hiding round the back of the National Railway Museum on Wednesday last week.

Something a bit older, but more well known, was almost hiding round the back of the NRM. The weather was pants all day but had stopped raining and as I wandered over to take a pic of the Deltic above, and a well looked after 09 shunter, I had to do a double take. There have been so many people trespassing beside the main line to get a pic of this graceful old machine passing by that information on movements are not widely published yet here it was and I had it all to myself. Ironically the Deltics replaced the A3's Like Scotsman and A4's like Mallard (which was inside the NRM (which was infested with screaming kids running around)) on the East Coast Mainline which is just beside the Museum.
Now, I put my anorak down somewhere, where was it...?

Well the official new kitchen opening ceremony today as my MIL & BIL came for afternoon tea to see it. First time my MIL has stepped foot into our house in about 10 years I think, its tooooo messy for her OCD :-)
