Cool Panzers.
Did the shots you took with the X700 come out OK?
Kind of....

I would say that the focus and the shutter were pretty spot on with the Perkeo.

I see what you mean. That does look like a shutter curtain problem.
Nice colour rendition on those Perkeo shots.
The seals on the Ricoh are a pain to do, a full surround job. I found these useful for the foam sizes and layout.
http://www.ukcamera.com/collect/ricoh_reseal.html
https://www.lomography.com/magazine/258460-how-to-refurbish-your-ricoh-500g-with-damaged-seals
Thanks for the heads up. I have some foam here so will give it a go. Will likely have to do the the other Ricoh as well.
yokohama
14-06-17, 09:04 PM
I've some that need doing too, including the MG1, but will probably wait until I get round to putting a film in them.
I have put the 500G somewhere so will fix it when I can find it! Got some self adhesive foam that I can use. The second link you posted up has measurements on which is helpful.
yokohama
15-06-17, 07:25 AM
The measurements helped. Trickiest bit is going around the viewfinder window.
I flipped the lid off a Himatic 9 last night and cleaned out a murky rangefinder. I think that's next in the film queue.
Going to have to re-seal the 500G, pretty poor job and no wonder it leaks! Don't think I did this one. Have ordered some 1mm open cell foam.

A fairly glowing review of the Poundland/Agfa film on casualphotofile https://www.casualphotophile.com/2017/06/16/agfaphoto-vista-plus-200-film-profile/
Along with a worrying comment that Poundland are going to stop stocking it. :( I might have to get a few more rolls in!
We still sell plenty of film in Jessops. It won't be as cheap as Poundland though
They are always saying that. Although I think I will pick up some more. They used to sell Solaris film before which I think was Ferrania. Kodak Ektachrome slide film will be available in a few months. This near anyone? 252990015302 or this 263036704680

Do you work at Jessops, admin? What's the deal with the passport photo service, do they have a little studio in there somewhere? I need some taken for my Canadian passport application, and they have to be done by a commercial photog
I had Visa application photo done by Snaps. Just a white screen and a dslr.

I do. Nothing sophisticated. A pull down background that is actually a projection screen. We shoot with a canon 100d and a nissin i40 flash.
We process on a fuji dye transfer printer. The fuji system has built-in templates for all the popular passport sizes including Canadian. With Canadian we have to stamp the back with business details, sign and date confirming that we took the photo and no one else.
We charge £9.95 but we guarantee the photo, so if it gets rejected we'll shot again for free. We also include a voucher for 50 free 6x4 prints.
Hmmm, a Jessops insider. Org discounts? How are you getting on with the OM-D Yoko? You get about a bit Johnny.
I only do two days a week. It's more of a hobby 😁
To be honest I only use Jessops as a last resort if I need a film done quick seeing as Boots are winding down. Its £8 for one hour.

Excellent thanks admin, that's just what I need. Will try the local one and see what they say. It's funny, they insist on the countersigning, no home photos etc., all very old school. For my dad's pension update form it had to be filled in by the bank (yeah right) and their official stamp on the paper. Happy birthday by the way!

We've had an influx of customers from Boots recently. Their loss our gain. Up until a few weeks back we were sending films to Germany to be processed. Currently they're going to our St Albans shop. Still a 2 week turnaround.

That's quite a turnround (2 weeks) considering some branches offer 1 hr or 24 hr processing.
The radiator cover is on by the way.
I'll just pop into this charity shop...

Wow! Christmas came early.
The mtl came with a 50mm Pentacon f1.8 (has aperture issues) a 135mm f3.5 Carl Zeiss Jena and a Hanimex 80-200 f4.5. The case apart from the obvious Cokin filters had a Sigma mini wide 2 28mm and a Sigma 80-200. It looks like it used to contain a Ricoh KR10 Super as there was a receipt from South Africa inside. Last sold in 2003 by Cash Converters for £120! £9.99 for the case and £12.99 for the camera. No car boot for me this week.

Blimey! Quite a haul. Checked with Poundland, they are indeed going to stop selling film. I wonder how long it'll keep in the freezer?
yokohama
17-06-17, 06:30 PM
If the Pentacon is anything like the Tessar, it'll come apart easily enough to get at the blades, but I definitely recommend not unscrewing the lenses from the focus threads. A pretty good find that. You'd probably get your money back on the case.
It came apart ok and I freed off the blades but I cannot get it back together and working as it should. Frustrating. The same shop had a Lowepro sling bag for 4.99. Anyone interested if its still there? Bad news on the film. Migjt have to stock up.

We can only process digital photos currently. We can't deal with film or have the space to install the required equipment. It's quite a small shop.
Its started. In my usual Poundland and no more film.

Picked up that sling bag this afternoon. Think I will keep it. Its a Lowepro Slingshot 200AW and in pretty good nick.

Blimey I'd better get up there and clear them out as well! Did you ask if they had any out the back? Got my passport photos done at Max Spielman, didn't know they could do that but they were all set up for it, funny sizes and everything
No I didn't, cleaned them out of gear though. The Pentacon has a stucky aperture for sure. Can't get the beauty ring off to sort. Tried cleaning the actuation arm but now got stuff inside the lens where I can't get at it. Been a beautiful day but no photography today. What have you lot been up to? Been to the beach at Felixstowe (was mental when we left) Had a bbq and now having a beer.

Just been melting, we were supposed to go for a little bike ride but too hot. Took my Ensign for a walk with my dad yesterday but only took one pic. Saw a nice Kiev for sale in Croatia but it was £15 plus £20 postage! The guy said it was heavy so he couldn't make it cheaper.

You've had a good weekend on the bargains. Charity shops down your way have a really good supply chain.
Not always lucky though. I only stopped in on the spur of the moment. This any good to anyone? 122521393398 nice looking lens.
Just had a count up and I have fifty rolls of Agfa Vista from Poundland.

Well I used some brake cleaner on the lever and managed to get some on the inside of the lens. Went back to it tonight and it seems to be working.

Picked up one of these while at Currys for all of 97p trying to separate my new laptop from the epsilon semi-moron who was apparently designated to sell computers:
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/cameras-and-camcorders/photography-accessories/camcorder-accessories/manfrotto-pocket-support-small-tripod-black-10127541-pdt.html
All three legs are adjustable, the idea is you leave it on the camera for when you need it. Really I got it for my daughter's P&S digi as something for her to have a go with, as she can't keep her hands off my proper tripod. It's nifty though and would also make an ideal display stand; I have my Certo and Contessa on the cabinet in the dining room, although they are free-standing cameras.
Nifty looking thing. I have a small magnetic Gorilla Pod to use. Quite chuffed with my MTL50 bundle now the 50mm is working. Got a Tweet back from Poundland confirming discontinuation of Agfa Vista.

Managed to get hold of 25 rolls of AV 200. After the messages back from Poundland I would suggest buying some if you can find it. On another note, my great Aunt spotted this in a charity shop and is going to pick it up for me tomorrow:

What's the next best cheap film option after the Poundland stuff is gone? Fujicolour?
You can three roll multipacks of Fuji C200 for about £8. Its basically the same stuff as AV200. Fuji X-Tra 400 is about £12 for three rolls. Or there is this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kodak-35mm-ColorPlus-Film-Exposures/dp/B008X6S654/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1498072223&sr=8-2&keywords=35mm+film
Poundland said they had no replacement lined up but they would ask the question.
yokohama
21-06-17, 07:17 PM
The Kodak is OK. I've used that before. I like the Fuji Superia too but it's a bit more expensive.
Can't understand why poundland are not restocking unless it's an issue with suppliers or price. It obviously sells well
Hope they do bring it back. It will dent the comeback film photography is making as it makes it so much more affordable and accessible. Think I said something like that in my message to them.

I said all the same things via FB messenger, they said they'd pass it on to marketing.
Jonesin' for this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-Seller-Kiev-2A-Rangefinder-1956-Jupiter-8-50mm-f-2-Lens-Tested-Working-/162556888085
seems a fair price, will wait for it to run out and see what it goes back on for. There is a 4 in Sheffield going for a rather stiff £40, again will see when it runs out, I expect no-one will buy at £10-15 over the odds, maybe go and see it and make a cash offer. Like I need more cameras, especially with cheap film running out!
Looks like a nice bit of kit there Johnny. Found my Nikon to M42 adapter so will have a play with the Jena and Pentacon lenses on the D3200.

Which Certo was it Johnny?

Nice, thanks. How does the meter respond? Looks like it's showing no life but I can't make out where the aperture setting is, the funny numbers on the dials look like DIN film speeds? I guess it works in manual anyway?
Mine appears to work ok in manual, although that was just dry firing. Nice camera though.
johnnyrod
23-06-17, 08:39 PM
Does your meter work?
https://www.photo.net/discuss/threads/durst-automatica-an-appraisal.236108/
Set to A on the front and 1/300 and then read off the top plate the selected speed
johnnyrod
23-06-17, 09:05 PM
Am asking them if the meter works then we'll see. It's set in the ad to automatic, f11/ISO200 and is indoors (from the cryptic Italian manual) so would be well underexposed. Fingers crossed.
They seem pretty rare, might be worth getting even without a working meter.

Took my Tamron 18-200 and Sigma 55-200 to London Camera Exchange and part exchanged them for the autofocus version of the Tamron 18-200. I picked up the wrong lens type when I first bought the Tamron. So much better now.

That's a neat fix on the Land Camera. The local Oxfam shop had a Canon A1 in but they were wanting £85.
I tidied up the MG1 this afternoon. Cheap vodka cleans them up nicely and is much better than lighter fuel for getting old foam out.
I had to cut out some plastic but it's neat enough and easy to fit new batteries. Checked two Poundland stores in Norwich and no film.
Sure you don't want the A1 back?
yokohama
24-06-17, 09:50 PM
Absolutely sure! It's yours.
I'll try the York Poundland on Monday.
I think a lot of people have realised they are not stocking it and are buying up. I think people were buying it and then listing it on ebay for £3 or more. I reckon Poundland will bring it back at a higher price.

Went to the Armed Forces Weekend at Landguard Fort today. Took the D3200 and the Tamron 18-200. I shot 187 photos and only a handful of them are any good. Mostly trying to get a good shot of the cannons firing but some dude in front of me kept leaning into my shots. Took the Bessa as well with HP5 but only shot about seven frames.
Hey Johnny, check out the bottom centre of this bundle 282532557226 that looks like a Kiev of some description.

Lol. I know the feeling. There was a food and drink festival here today which was absolutely heaving. Hard to take photos of anything. I managed 3 with a rangefinder, gave up and went to the pub.
I had the shot lined up and was firing ahead of the gun firing. Just as it did, he would lean in and I was so annoyed that I gave up.

Shoulda rabbit punched his head. Thanks for the heads up Kenzie, it's a late kiev 4 which are said to be pretty badly made so I'm not punting that much money on it. Bidding on the Durst, seller says the meter works. Been out riding and drinking so not even an iphone pic and fell asleep on the sofa this arvo.

PS Yoko I had an FB message from Poundland that they have no film stocks in any of their stores now. You may be lucky but it doesn't sound like it. I've tried a few as well.

26-06-17, 06:46 PM
Tried Poundland in Leeds and York but the cupboard was bare in both.
Still, I had an excuse to visit the 'Trembling Madness' in York and stock up on craft beer.
Got myself another Canon Dial 35 through today. Shutter and aperture were jammed but some gentle cleaning with lighter fluid has freed everything off. Currently drying at the moment. Its a shame about the film though, hoping they bring something back!
yokohama
26-06-17, 07:28 PM
Another Dial? It's an unusual looking camera. Are you compensating for the Poundland film by going half frame? :)
Double the fun! I have a few half frames so I could always start shooting them instead! The first one I had had the same issue, jammed shutter. Took it apart and can't get it back together.

Looks like Johnny got a great price on the Durst Automatica. My pack of FP100C arrived early so the 220 is all loaded up.

28-06-17, 06:03 PM
BOOM you beat me to it! Fingers crossed it's as good as it looks. I was just looking at sold values, one recently for a tenner with a dead meter (was that yours?), others are a fair bit higher!
Yeah that was mine. Quite jealous now! The shutter on the Dial is acting up. If its wet with lighter fluid its fine, but as soon as it dries out it sticks.

Today's bargains, a bunch of Tamron adapters a fiver apiece
http://www.oxfam.org.uk/shop/art-and-photography/cameras-and-accessories
also a K1000 for £40 in there, bit knocked about, Taiwan I think. And if you want a cheap P&S digital there a couple of Fuji F10s for a tenner each, my daughter has one and they are great. Massive battery and really short shutter delay. Also this on Gumtree in Cambs:
https://www.gumtree.com/p/video-camera-accessories/canonet-ql17-giii-plus-instructions/1251616135
which are going for about £60-90 on ebay last time I looked (which was a while ago, but the GIII is very much in demand)
Shame, its a little too far out of the way that one otherwise I would be interested.

Me too on the Canonet. A bargain at that price.
I'm not at work next week. Should I invest my commuting fares into cameras? If the weather stays like it has over the last couple of days, it won't be going on petrol for the SV.
I'm not sure about buying at the moment given the fact that Poundland have stopped the film supply. Having said that I'll probably buy anyway as I can never resist!

Will see if ebay or the local camera shop can tempt me with anything. Must make more of an effort to finish off some half used films too.
Just seen another Durst listed for £100 or best offer. Looks like you got a steal Johnny. Managed to get hold of another 18 rolls of Agfa. Pretty stocked now. Thinking of upgrading my D3200 to a D5200. Hunting for a decent used one, have seen one on camera jungle for £278 with a shutter count of 1500 ish. I still hace quite a few loaded I need to shoot. Seen a joblot of folders and the title is basic. Think there is an Agfa isolette 3 in there.

Isolette 3 is an uncoupled RF, so like the Mess ikonta but one less window as the RF and VF are combined. Yep seen that Durst, it was on for £120 but no one bit, the actual sold prices are good though. It's a bit like the Certo, worth a few bob but auction is a poor choice for the seller as there will be few people looking for it in the small time window. Where did you get the Agfa from?
Film? Poundland, got another 18 rolls. I didn't realise the durst had been relisted, it popped up on my new listed items. Will keep an eye on the Agfa, not sure why I want one. Watching a Lomo spinner that ends in less than an hour.

See what lens it has, I think Solinar was the best, Apotar not bad, Agnar and others not really worth it. They have a history of leaky bellows though so check it our before you try your first film.

Woke up at 6 this morning and went out looking for early morning shadow and anything else that took my fancy.
Managed to finish off the roll in the X500 and also make inroads into the film in the Himatic. It has a program mode, whatever way that worked in the 60's, so took the first 12 on that and the rest on manual. Small numbers etched into chrome make it bl***y difficult for my old man eyes to see though.
Car boot sale this morning, nothing of interest. Saw a Halina 35AF and an Olympus mju ii 115 but left them there. Saw an AE1 Program and standard AE1 for £50 each and a Centon DF300 for £35.
