Nice, but I try not to pay a fair price for anything!

Another Durst Automatica 123797225944 currently cheap but ending Sunday night. Am thinking of it (would be the third one!) as I have a spares camera although I think this one just needs fettling, which most people would be fearful of. Case looks good as well, the one I have is a bit rough. Ummm..........
Got my new laptop. Going to take a while to get used to as I've only had desktops.

I finally got around to glueing the bits of leatherette on the Automatica, am just going to touch up the paint a bit and it's done. the top and bottom edges of the film door are paints, that's all I think, it's a bit chipped though. Started on the shutter of the Fujica to try to understand the focus adjustment. The shutter blades are a bit smeary, but there is visible oil on the aperture blades. Nicely made though.
So what are you gpoing to do about the Automatica? Take a punt? Just about got my Epson 2450 working on Windows 10. Had to download software for a 4990 and run it off that instead. Bought an adapter for my 23in Acer monitor and have it hooked up a second scren off the laptop. I can now scan on one screen and surf with the other. Quite useful really.

I think so, will bomb in there at the last minute, trouble is it's Sunday just before 9pm and they've added the details to the ad that the meter and shutter work. So, odds are against me but will decide a price and go for it. It only needs CLA I think and the mysterious workings put people off trying, so fingers crossed.
I ha a bit of a mare getting my HP working too, the workaround in 7 was to use the XP or whatever driver and run it in compatibility mode (find the driver application, right-click and set it to that). How have you go on with rez, we had a mare at work with second screens and it only seemed to want to use the same rez for both.
Windows has sorted it all out. 1680x1050 on second screen and 1920 x1080 on the primary. I have it set to extend the desktop so I can drag what I need onto screen two while surfing on the main one. Seems to be handling it well except I keep clipping the touchpad with the heel of my hand.

Dunno. Should be able to get one for less than that. I don't know if it makes any difference but from the photos, there are marks on the front ring as if someone;s hacked their way in.
Always worth an ask! I didn't notice the marks. I picked up probably one of my oldest cameras yesterday from the re-use shop, it's a Butcher Maxim No.2. Built between 1903 and 1920, mines the 6x9 model. Shutter works and I have given it a good clean up. http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Butcher%27s_Maxim. I put an offer in on a 50mm Rokkor PF 1.7 for £20 (£19 opening bid price) counter offer received for £25. I keep an eye on it and no bids, so I bid £19. Instantly outbid even though there were no other bids. Seemed fishy so I left it. Wanted the lens for my X500. Might take a punt on this 383000901019

If you're after a lens, it can work out cheaper to get one with a metal box attached.
F2 but this might be worth a punt. 401743747403
The Butcher sounds like a bit of a collectors item
I think I will shoot it. I wonder how many years it's been since it saw a roll of film? Maybe I'll track down some Fomapan 100 or Ilford 50. I think black and white would be better.

That zoom's a good one if you can get it, the fixed 3.5 macro. A collaboration with Leica.
I haven't done much recently. Hankering after a Konica auto S2 and bought one but it was a bit of a wreck. Jammed shutter and winder (don't people actually check these things!) and no rangefinder patch so I returned it.
I think I have one somewhere, never used it. Want to give it a try?

Just having an idle flick through eBay on a Sunday afternoon, not always a good idea as there is loads I want! Analogue Project emailed me back my key to unlock the software but DXO wouldn't, so I've lost a couple of decent programs. Will have to keep an eye out for free downloads in the photography mags again.

No such temptation here. I'm in the pub having lunch, halfway through a walk. I took a couple of cameras with me to finish off films. One shot from the Minolta XE and the film was done. 24 shots: thought it was a 36. Damn. Only 10 minutes from home though so went back and put a film in an XD 7 I've had for about 3 years but not tested yet. Not feeling very inspired though.
Weather has been a bit rotten of late. Been under my VW scraping crud looking for rust holes. Not very exciting.

103006131. This one's up in an hour. No interest so far. You could put in a speculative offer.
The Pentax bundle looks good. Wonder how much it will go for? ME Super has been converted to half frame. I've not seen that before
I didn't spot that. Might have to keep an eye on it. That auction number doesn't work, looks too short.

That one didn't sell and has been relisted. Definitely might be worth a cheeky offer
JR, did you win the Durst?
johnnyrod
17-06-19, 07:48 PM
Yep, someone put a bid about 10 mins before the end so I sniped it at the last moment, only went up 50p. Should be here by the end of the week but then we're off on hols. A couple of cracked bits of glass, which about half of them seem to have, but sounds like it's functional and the case is in a lot better nick than mine.
Yeah, it was me. I didn't see any action on it and thought you might have forgotten. I owe you 50p! Got an OM40 on the way, got bids on two Rokkor 50 1.7 ( can never have too many) also got my eye on a 50 1.4 and a box Tengor.
johnnyrod
17-06-19, 08:02 PM
Aha! i used to put a bid on early sometimes to scare people off, but I've stopped doing that as anyone wanting to snipe will then know they'll have to put a decent price straight on, and there's always a chance of shill bidding as well.
I finally finished the film in my Tengor, think I have a 35mm nearly done as well. I lost picture 7 though, I thought I'd locked the shutter release but either I didn't or the lock got knocked off.
I've learnt that all the action is in the last 30 seconds,I tend to smile at the end! I haven't shot film in ages, weather has been pants.
Yoko, got a seller offer on the SRT101b with the 50 f2 for £20 plus post, good deal?

Lens has 6 elements in 5 groups and should be a pretty good 50mm. This is the same lens. (the X denotes American market) It should be easy to disassemble if it needs a clean up.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/30255355@N00/7995326340
SRT sounds like it's working and looks clean but you'd need to check shutter speeds and meter. It's a more basic model than the 201.
If I was after the lens, I'd go for it as lenses alone go for £20+. Clean the camera up and sell it on.
BTW, someone at work is selling a Minolta lens. Don't know what or how much yet but will find out.
Did you just say the S word? I bought the Minolta as well as this 312654707887. Been after one for a while and I've seen good results with T-Max 100.

I hope the SRT and lens are OK. Having encouraged you, I'll feel guilty if they're not.
Can't find the other item though. What was it?
Somebody local was selling a Yashica FX3 with 50mm DSB for £15 .... couldn't resist.
Its a Zeiss Box Tengor 6x4.5 medium format. Don't feel guilty, I'm sure it will be OK.

Ah, a box camera, 120. Not too familiar with those, which is a good thing perhaps. Don't want to feed the addiction.
Medium format equivalent of point and shoot. Produce a truly vintage look.

Definitely a unique feel to those images. I need to try out some of my older 35mm cameras for a change.

Have you already shot with it Kenzie? That was quick!
Durst no.3 turned up today, to much wifely mirth. Looks good, a little bit of fungus but otherwise glass is good, the rest works, even the self-timer. Needs a good clean on the outside. Certainly been used, there are sufficient witness marks from where the wind lever has come back too far, and flashes have been put on and off.
No, that's from a Kodak Brownie of some description. I've bought a few over a few days and got a offer in on something else but I doubt they'll bite. Probably spent £30 odd quid in the last couple of days.
Did you win the SRT Yoko?
My Box Tengor arrived today. It's tiny! I actually thought I'd been sent a 127 camera it's so small. Can't wait to shoot it. It's a late model type 54 dated between 1933 and 1939. Adjustable focus and apertures. The OM40 arrived too but seems to be jammed. Decent batteries in but it won't wind or fire. Battery check and meter work though.

Yep. Offer accepted for the 303 with lens.

SRT arrived this morning. All good and fully working, including the meter. It's had a bang on the top front of the pentaprism and the' Minolta' nameplate has been pushed out a bit but it hasn't affected the judas window so I can still see the aperture in the top of the viewfinder. It's wearing a Rokkor PF 50mm f1.7.
It's been a weird week, like buses, lots of things at once. Also picked up a Yashica FX 3 Super with a ML 50mm and a 75-300 zoom for £13
That's good news, my SRT hasn't arrived yet but hopefully early next week. I did by this 183837913023 a big job lot of little cameras. I have sone film somewhere.

I'm not sure what you bought there; had to look them up. Are they for your display cabinet?
I'm down to my last roll of Poundland Agfa now. Bought a 6 pack of Fujicolour 200 to keep me going.
I took a couple more shots with the XD7 this morning. I'd forgotten how small and balanced it was and with a lovely vibration free, almost noiseless shutter. It's a beautiful piece of engineering.
They are a variety of sub mini cameras using 17.5mm roll film. I hace some unused film that I could rob the spools and backing paper from if need be. I've still got loads of film, just not had chance to shoot lately. If the weather holds tomorrow then we are out castle hunting again on the bikes.

First time out with it? How did you get on?
Not bad. Forgot to set the shutter a couple of times, rangefinder window is a bit small but the framing window is spot on. Luckily I put a film box stub in the shoe otherwise I would have forgotten what film was loaded. Shutter was surprisingly quiet too, and with the folding lens it fitted nicely into my tank bag pocket. Did have an almost breakdown, bike has been sounding rough at idle for a little while and smelt of petrol when stationary. Wife noticed some fluid on the frame so we pulled over for a look. Turns out one of the hoses was off the bottom of the airbox. Luckily I had the bikes toolkit on board so problem was solved quickly. Bike sounds and runs so much better.

Good spot by the wife there. Last thing you need is a breakdown.
I like the collapsible lens on the Zorki.
Definitely a good spot. I checked the Haynes manual and it looks like it was the cylinder or crank case breather hose.
Just picked this up from the reuse shop for a fiver. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190706/64dfaacd30468fcbd688c35b5726b469.jpg

An AT1. I'd never heard of it before but it's basically an AE1 body manual mode, match needle camera. Unfortunately an electronic shutter so won't work without a battery.
Seems to be working and came with a 50mm FD1.8 and a seen better days case.
Not heard of that one before, I would say I'd look it up but I have an AE1 Program and need more cameras like a hole in the head. It's strange how some models get overlooked. Take the KM, it's a K1000 with dof preview and self timer (all missing from the K1000) but the K1000 often sells for three or four times more than the KM.
I know you aren't a zone focus fan JR, but spotted this 183873901244

I had to read up about the AT1 too. I went down to WYC and got an AD2 mount to fit it so I don't need to start a lens collection.
Something must be going right at WYC. They sell analogue only but are expanding and moving to a bigger shop.
I've seen film camera prices climb over the last few years. If, I started my collection with now I doubt I would have half the cameras I do now, let alone any of the OM higher end range.

Reckon you're right, I keep an eye on ebay etc. for a few cameras that I know about, looking for a bargain, but there aren't so many and the prices in general seem higher. Apart from, that is, an old Canonet 19. Saw one with a jammed shutter, decided not to take a punt on it as working ones seem to be going for about a tenner!

It's a couple of hours Johnny. Lovely ride over Teesdale and Weardale on the B roads but I'm avoiding at the mo due to all the resurfacing work and loose gravel.
It's an OM 40, not a 4 Reasonable price including the lenses but unfortunately nothing that I really need .
Picked this up at the reuse shop at the local tip. Needs a new door latch but I may be able to rob that off another Polaroid or the incomplete SX70 model 3 I have somewhere. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190713/a4558847bc5237136d1fa505e010c9f6.jpg

Cool Polaroid, and looking forward to seeing the pics Kenzie. FML I am struggling with the GAS just now. I've got my free time back (sort of) and despite the fact I've got a stack of cameras to clean up and sell on, I keep looking on ebay. Not caved yet. There is a Mamiya Six folder with some pinholes but looks nice otherwise, even here in the UK, listed for £30 and no one took it, was thinking of contacting them with a cheeky offer. Also a Contessa LKE (rangefinder), all working, £12 inc post or offer. A couple of spots on the front element but comes with a case. They're not going for a great deal at the moment but I'm drawn as it's one of my favourite ones. Think I need to burn my laptop.
I overspent this month but luckily it's payday in a couple of days. Really trying not to buy, but couldn't ignore the Polaroid. I have so many cameras in the queue. I'm finding it easier to only take one film camera out at a time, otherwise I flick between them and can't enjoy them. I found the FM a bit of a pain to use, I'd keep forgetting to unlock the shutter release which also turns on the meter by moving the wind lever to the stand off position. Problem with that is it the pushes my eye away from the viewfinder making it harder to compose.
yokohama
17-07-19, 04:35 PM
Interesting user comment on the FM. Mine's not got to the top of the queue yet. I can't wait to find out just how irritating that shutter lock/meter lever mechanism is.

Depends if you want to scan medium format or not? If not then should be ok. I have a really old Epson 2450 but it works fine. Had to cheat and install a later models software to trick Windows 10.
yokohama

Cheers Kenzie. It would only be for 35mm so it might be worth experimenting with. It could be the start of another slippery slope though.
I have collected a few scanners as well. Got about three of various types. The one I got from the top seems to given the best results. The one I have id a Plustek, good if you are tight on space.

Pentax stuff actually. A weird assortment. ME Super in good condition but l can't get the LEDs to work. :( It fires on 125 though.
There's a Pentax 50mm and a 28mm f2.8 with clear optics and a Vivitar 28-200 so that makes it worthwhile. And a couple of rolls of Superia 400 which look unused. Plus an assortment of flashes, filters and a remote sensor.

I took the top off the ME Super and cleaned any contacts i could see but it all looked pretty good in there. No corrosion and no loose solder joints. That's about as far as I can go.
I'd like to check the connection from under the battery box but it looks like the camera needs taking apart to get at that
I don't know why the ME Super is so unreliable, I tend to leave them unless they have a decent lens fitted. I've tried to revive a good few but they just won't have it. I picked up a Yashica accessory shoe light meter from the car boot sale along with a Konica Pop 10 point and shoot.

Interesting development on the ME Super. I was playing around with it again tonight and got a flicker from the diodes. Eventually, I worked out that if i pressed hard on the battery cover with my left thumb and operated the meter with my right hand ... I get lights! It looks like the battery box is attached internally and the whole shutter assembly needs to come out to get access to it. But, a couple of millimetres of tinfoil under the battery cap to increase pressure on the base contacts and .... Hey, it works!
That's good news. The ME is a great little camera when it works. Been all over the place today but no joy in the charity shops, only film camera I found was an Instamatic 100.
