Page 39 of this thread could well be titiled 'Why I'd love to live in the UK'.
Stunning scenry, awesome pics.
America pales in comparison. There are plenty of beautiful places in the US but mostly you must travel to them whilst in the UK nearly everwhere you look could be a postcard.

Another old school camera.

From when I was as young as some of the wee lads of the org.
Don't know where my telephoto lens is or why it is not on the camera.

End of an era eh Richie?

The lego mould was cool, amazing precision engineering. Saw it at the Catalyst science museum, went to a performance there last night and got to play with all the stuff. It was ace seeing a group of adults let loose in a kids museum :D reinforced the title of "The importance of being interested" :)

Banannaman, glad you are enjoying the pictures, it's easy for things you see every day to become hum-drum. I bet some of the things around you would seem exotic and interesting to us :) Nice shot on the camera BTW!

Mister_C: Cracking shots, your budget buying makes them even more worthy. Might have to follow your example sometime, at the moment though I'll let the camera do the hard work for me.

Must try and get out for some shots today, sunny here at the moment and a nice interesting sky, watch this space :)

There are some really good pctures in this thread, just goes to show how diverse 1 hobby can be :)

Mav, I've bought a Lumix G5, but can't afford the Leica lenses that go with it, so have bought an Olympus & Canon adaptor to fit the older type lenses to the camera. The major pitfall is that focussing has to be done in manual mode, but, I'm getting there. :)

I did manage a couple of hours out today. I've walked Bickerton Hill many times as I quite like a stroll down the Sandstone trail but I've never seen "Mad Allen's Hole" (A small cave in the sandstone ridge that gives the trail it's name, not a local flasher :-P) I decided to hunt it down while the weather was bright.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bickerton_Hill#17th.E2.80.9319th_century

I had searched it online a couple of weeks ago but was unprepared today, a vague notion of where it was and I was parked so I was walking at it from another direction. This resulted in walking from the highest part of the walk down to the lowest, doubling back on myself along the lower path and then heading right up the hillside (slippery wet woodland floor hill) to the ridge but mercifully after all that I did find it.

I got a panoramic shot from the viewpoint near the peak. 20 shots went into it so check out the full size version if you get chance.

I also got a bit of a compositional shot at the peak too, there is a memorial to somebody's wife there.

I'm just watching Long Way Down, because I love Ewan, more than I love cheese!

Nothing technical today. We dodged the showers to go out for a walk and Mr LPH slipped over and fell into a very muddy ditch. I was very sympathetic and didn't laugh at him at all, honest :-)

Have you got your upload sorted yet Mav? I'm missing your contributions (and it's your thread too!)

BP: Nice shot as always, having a big bright coloured car does help in these dull days though :) I'd have forgotten to leave the inside light on in the car and the shot wouldn't been worse off for it, nice job!

Mr_C, were those shot manual focus??

Richie, if I'm even close to what you are thinking then I must be doing something right. I'll not match your indoor photography but I try and learn all the time.

Banannaman: like the gun shot, bet you could get an interesting few macro shots of it. perhaps it resonates more because they are such a rare item in the UK but it is a nice shot and a very elegant item.

No, I haven't, I don't know if its the phones software or Picassa?

Writing the above made me decide to do something. I've been watching gloomy TV all day thanks to the gloomy weather - so I took some gloomy shots of something that, cough, just happened to be lying around. Not as good as one of Richie's but at least it made me think about setting (on top of the printer), the backdrop (the wall of my study) and lighting (single led booklight). I feel better now.

ouch, hope you don't get snipped! :smt103 seems a bit harsh even for ebay.
On the other hand, you can snipe back. www.gixen.com is a decent free service. put your maximum price in and let it ride, if you win it you got it for a price you were willing to pay, if you don't, you didn't over pay. No getting suckered into outbidding someone else.

Nice pics John, cliché can't be avoided with snow pictures but it is nice to have taken them yourself. Plus it is pretty rare for us to get so much snow, usually a dusting and the country goes to pot. I'm impressed with how well we have all handled it this time.

ouch, hope you don't get snipped!

:smt103 had that Op in 2006 =0/ :) Cheers for the link Bret :)
Anyhow I got one.... £64 with leather carrying case

those eyes make you dog look so sad.... :(

She's a rescue and although we'll never know for sure she clearly had some bad treatment in the past. She never seems "happy" and looks through life with worried and suspicous eyes all the time. We got her two and a half years ago and she's relaxing gradually but she's about ten now and is never going to be bouncy or joyous despite the love, comfort and attention she now gets.

Awesome snow drift Darren!

All we're getting this year seems to be snow/sleet/rain mix which is little more than just a mess.

Along my morning commute:
(It's supposed to be spring, the grass should be turning green and flowers should be blooming along side the road but we just keep getting more of this every few days)

Looks almost like the sky is clearing ahead.

A brief break in the clouds provides a few rays of sunshine as I pass by some old tobacco barns.

So much for the sunshine. Back into the snow as I near town.

Make sure you keep that Bret, my dad had a similar one of drifts that high in Kent from 1962.

Its etched in my mind with the height of the drifts where they'd cleared the snow in the road over the top of his car.

Yeah, it was kinda going through my mind as I saw them, hence me getting in the picture for once (I HATE pictures of myself) Gonna stash it in lots of storage places. That is the downfall with digital stuff, things are easier to lose somehow yet the reverse should be true.
