Been for a nice walk around Dovedale & Dimmings Dale today & caught these. More impressed with the 450D than the Lumix. I'm glad I sold the Panasonic now.

I cannot believe Bill has Roses in flower already... Mine are still way off.
Not of my doing.
They are early this year, must be the odd weather we're having.
There are also hundreds of buds on them this year like I've never seen.
They should be quite a sight very soon!
Had planned to be off on the bike on me birthday today but was cold, windy and rainy
so took off on the car with the Mrs. and visited a 1950's style diner.

But this one stood out as another good example from my new lens:

Nice shot of the bottle Richie, liking that one.
Mister_C, cracking shot, I've just been reading back and seen you got a new camera! The unfortunate thing is its the same model as me and between you and Richie you are showing me what I should be doing with mine :-) (keep it up guys, naturally a tongue in cheek comment) my enthusiasm is growing all year thanks to you guys and this thread!
Edit: got out of my hammock and grabbed the camera to snap a few pictures before the sun went completely, this was my chosen one for today:

Been on a test day at 3 Sisters in Wigan today. After my track time I took a few pictures & think this is the best of the bunch. It rained all the way through my session, so used wet tyres for the 1st time, what a revelation those are, brilliant. As soon as our session was up, the sun came out & the track dried :(

Went for a ride on the quad bike on some of the area's tobacco roads.
This area was once known for it's many tobacco farms.
These tobacco roads wind around fields and through the woods connecting tobacco fields and providing a shortcut for the tobacco to be taken to the barns for curing.
Now days the roads are mostly unused and broder wheat and hay crops

Here's something you've likely not seen before.
Meet the Magicicada.
These inch and a half long red eyed monsters have been sleeping for 17 years have and have now emerged to mate.
As many as 1 millon per acre, these scum are slowly taking over my property.
The only thing uglier than the adult is the larvae in any of it's stages.
They make an dreadful deafing noise as well.
Heres a fully developed one next to a larvae.

I have chased away several cats that sit on top of the box. They can just get their paw into the access hole and "fish" for the helpless hatchlings inside. There are three boxes like this around the garden and they all have that much barbed wire keeping the damn cats at bay.
On a lighter note, have been snapping the spring flowers and blossom in and around Trev Towers. Dicentra Spectabilis, also known as Bleeding Heart.

You wouldn't if you could have seen me squashed into the corner of a very small umpires changing room yesterday with Cook, Prior, Broad, Swann and KP all in their pants, and then Cook decided he needed to change his to a light coloured pair so I got a rather too close encounter with his naked bum cheeks. They are just so used to getting changed in front of physios and coaches and their female media manager that they don't worry about stripping off when I'm in the room.

Careful now. If she finds out about the camera AND reads this, you might well be gaining a night or two on the sofa. ;)

More flora from me today. Apple blossom - which will hopefully develop into apples this year and not get killed off by late frosts like last year.

It's not too far from me, as I saw what I thought was an old church... Wrong, its the remains from a old pit head, back in the September of 1844 there was an Explosion sadly 95 men and boys died, and this is the memorial...
going to try and find out some more information about it.
here's the information

I often use this trick when balancing the camera precariously on something - don't want to risk upsetting things with the shutter prod. Back in my 35mm SLR days I had a cable release for the same reason as my basic Pentax MESuper only had a rudimentary self timer.
mine for today... It's blowing a hoolie some would say.
taken today @ Seaham Harbour
