I know Brett had a go at a location but I've seen scenery like this on Top Gear and they said it was Surrey. Or was it Hertfordshire? Looks wonderful in any case.
Love the tools on the boat Col. Did you use a built-in HDR or is it post-production? I know my 700D had it on-board but I've not had chance to try it.
I used photomatix (i think its called) works really well

The chief sports photographer from The Times has been seriously hurt in an accident and so the photographers working at Lord's today wanted to send him a get well soon message. So my first team photo of the photographers. All the snappers at the Football World Cup have got together and done the same sort of thing too.
The Times will publish this one on their website later.

Beautiful A65L pic Richie!!
Well done!
Of course I may be predjudiced because one was my first real bike, but I still think the 1966-1970 BSA Lightnings are some of the best looking bikes ever made.
This one with the rare 'large' tank, looks to be a 69 or 70 ? ,if I'm right.
cheers o'yellow and bendy man :)

The village up the road from me had its annual fete today. As the sun was beating down the place was packed but I got a good position by the main arena for the dog show to get my hand in with my tele-zoom. Lots of lovely mutts to try out on. This one reminded me of old dog Katie.

I don't like the word awesome, as its frequently over used by my younger colleagues, but that is awesome! I want to ride in the Velodrome when it opens to the general public.

It's all the terrible stories I've heard about those Scottish border guards. ;)
More like the lack of £3000 to spend on holiday at the moment. :(
If I could, I certainly would have, I've always wanted to visit Scotland.

Finally got some time to go take a picture, ended up using the quad rather than my camera as I'm still hoping to get one for the photo competition.
I got a shot of a quarry but it wasn't nearly as interesting as I'd hoped it would be.
This Cement plant on the other hand came out really well, total flight time was around 90 seconds as the battery was dying but it came out the best.

New York to mine is the same distance as Dundee to London so not an option.
Main thing is finding a reputable bike hire and planning the trip around that. (Better check the reviews)
There are several in London, one in Manchester don't know about Edinburgh
i think for £3k you could bring your own bike over.
i have seen a few yank plate bikes touring Scotland.

I just got back from my alternative AR with the two Chris's - a weekend in Norfolk. We climbed a windmill right to the top, not easy with narrow ladders in full bike gear and once on the very upper platform I wasn't really enjoying the view as I was too busy trying not to look down and be scared of heights.
We also went to the seaside, in full leathers or waterproof textiles of course.

Nearest shipping port is 200+ miles away so again more trouble than it's worth and don't know that I'd want to take the risk.
Besides it's great fun flogging someone else's bike with no worries. LOL
Airline ticket £1150
Bike hire £750
Deposit £500
plus petrol, food and accommodations .
Which you will get the deposit back providing you have no incidents but still have to pay upon arrival .
Could probably get by at £2300 to £2500 but need 3k for the trip.
I'm sure you could get by cheaper but if I'm flying around the world I'd prefer a no hassles holiday.

OK OK I know for those that are bored by my silly cricket pics this is really dull but I thought a couple of the lads would like this one. Today, I have for you Sachin Tendulkar, one of the greatest cricketers of all time, and er, a cardboard cutout of Sachin Tendulkar. Now what this photo goes to prove is that you can be one of the most talented sportsmen who ever lived, but it doesn't stop you from making bad choices when it comes to choosing which jacket to wear.

So it has been a couple of days since I picked my new bike up and I know its not an SV, but after spending ages looking for a decent one (and I saw a couple of dogs) within a reasonable travelling distance I gave in and spent a few more pennys on the bike I wanted all along!
My intention was to take a decent piccy whilst I was out for a ride over the last couple of days but every time I intended to stop I twisted the throttle and forgot all about it :p
So here is DuGi dragged out of the garage between thunderstorms!

LPH - how come the cutout is bigger than Sachin himself?
Kenzie - very nice allium.
From me today. Red Kites are wonderful to watch as they soar above you but when they call to each other it's a cross between a shriek and a scream. While relaxing with a cup of team and the paper this morning I could hear one crying away but the sound seemed constant, static. Looking over the hedge I realised it was sitting in a tree three gardens away. Dash for camera... By the time I had strapped on the tele-zoom it had been joined by a very noisy and clearly agitated Jay and a calm-as-you-like Magpie that was sitting in the middle like a referee. So, if it all kicked off who would your money be on?

Keep thinking about leaving the forum, but the pull of everybody's pictures brings me back. There are some brilliant photos on here as usual.
Been looking through my family tree & have started visiting places that my ancestors lived & were brought up. I can't believe how beautiful some of the places are, wish they had stayed there, but I suppose it's all down to finding work. This is Melverley Church in Shropshire. Built in 1200AD, absolutely stunning place.

Kites are a bit soft and survive by clearing up roadkill and carrion. Their talons are short and although they look hard they're softies. We have a pair of Jays nesting nearby and they're quite aggressive towards the other garden birds when near the feeders but in this three-way fight the Magpie would easily win. You cannot see them from that shot but there were at least three more of them in the next tree all keeping an eye on the stand-off just in case - they work as a pack and they are vicious.

Looks like fun Brett. Now you just need to work out how to use timelapse, from the quadcopter, in the dark while twirling some blazing wire wool. Seriously dude, you're just making it harder for yourself .
Slightly older form of transport from me today. High Wycombe has still got a large part of its original broad gauge train station. It became the goods shed when the standard gauge station was built a few years later and was then used for all sorts of businesses including a tyre fitters at one point a few years ago. It was almost pulled down but just in time someone remembered what it was and got it grade something-or-other listed. A local artist has just unveiled a tropme l'oil (sp?) trick of the eye mural on the back wall. Nice effect from the right angle, and full of odd curiosities, like the British Railways logo on the smokebox of the Iron Duke loco Mr Brunel is standing beside - should get the anoraks rustling a bit. Check out also the real pigeon on the roof vs the painted one atop the middle pier/wall.

Shame the light was crud - will try on another day for something better. This is all the more impressive as it's ALL painted. You can just about make out the sheeting boards that cover the wall.

Really like that Trev! Viewed the full size one to make out the boards, very impressive stuff!
Two from me, mega day at work today.
Today was what I like to call a five canner...

Then after 12 hr day I got home and decided it'd be good to finish off digging up the lawn (I blame the suffusion of caffeine flowing through me)

Nice vid you get a sense of the speed.
Was out in the early hours and took a few night pics but didn't have my tripod so most were blurry. This was the best I had to lean on a rail to get it still.

You're welcome. I think the best bit is you can trace the individual lights (LED's?) all the way back.
P.S did you find out the info about that time lapse gadget you bought? ta fella.

Doh, forgot about that (I haven't even used it since)
Looks like they are taking orders for another production run, no shipping costs mentioned but it was $15 for the kickstarter campaign and they sent it in such a way that I didn't get stung for import fees.
So, $279+15 seems to work out around £171.50 at todays rate.
I'd question the value at that point. I'm pretty sure when I backed it, I paid just over £100.

Thanks!
There have been some amazing shots from multicopters recently, definitely an area of growth, seems to feel threatened all the time though as bad press happens when people don't think about how they use them.
I wonder what the eagle encounter went like, if the eagle flew to the copter or if they moved it closer to the bird. Awesome shot though.
BP posted a link to a new site dedicated for multicopter photography in the quadcopter thread in Idle Banter. Some very impressive stuff, I keep thinking I'm doing well but soon as you compare to others..... ;)
need to get my FPV gear set up so I can frame pictures properly whilst in the air and then I can get a bit more creative/daring.
