Should have had them checked out years ago instead of relying on reading glasses. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-basic/dunce.gif
Nice to hear. Everyone should get their eyes checked every 2 years. The basic examination can turn up other heath issues such as diabetes or glaucoma.

I'm not very precious about my lawn, unlike some of my neighbours, bit I woke up this morning to find it had been transformed into a battlefield simulation.

On closer inspection there are very canine-esque paw prints in some of the holes. It's unlikely to be a neighbour's dog as the garden is well fenced but something cunning that was clearly hungry for whatever grubs were lining under the surface of my moss/grass/weeds managed to get in.

No idea - it's still dark when I leave for work and it's dark by the time I get home... I'll find a torch when I eventually get home tonight and go have a look.

Just decided to weigh myself as even my tight jeans now feel a bit baggy. Under 8 stone, no wonder my clothes are feeling roomy! Think I'll buy some new jeans today and another belt. I'm a stone lighter than I was in March. I'm sure it's partly due to giving up wine almost completely. They've been saying on Radio 4 all morning, a glass of wine is the same as eating a donut.

Ah sadly the guy who was organising the party has been sent to the USA for work this week so it got cancelled. I'm taking the nephews out Trick or Treating but will throw on my gothic skulls dress for that.
How can a Hobbit weigh more than me? At least I don't have hairy toes.

Trev Towers is a very modest estate, honest. My head gardener only needs two assistants, one of whom also does the night security patrol in the Land Rover. Just to the left is actually the kitchen garden, the badminton court is on the right, just beyond the ornamental knot garden and the herbaceous border. I did toy with the idea of having a bowling green on this bit of the lawn until my valet pointed out it was on a slope and all everything would end up at the same end all the time...
The little sods have been back, although it's not quite as bad as last weekend.

Hah well spotted, I knew they were a little incongruous with the rest of it but I normally have the next level up, (2nd cheapest) as I don't really like meat. They had no stock so went for next level down. expensive and well made sausages are revolting for me somehow. I only started eating bacon a few months back but have to say that stuff was ace!

You might want to try something like http://rawtherapee.com it's free and functionally better than bundled software. BUT, if you're looking at RAW then you might want to try the trial of Lightroom from Adobe. IIRC they do a subscription for £8 or so a month which lets you run Lightroom and Photoshop (they are different programs, not as much feature overlap as you might think) but personally I barely touch Photoshop and rely heavily on Lightroom which can be purchased outright for less than £100 usually.
Before you start a trial of Lightroom I'd advise checking some online tutorials on how it works and what it does, it'll make so much more sense as it isn't just s program, it's a way of working.

One of the current photo mags has a free raw editor with it. It also has the ability to deal with chromatic abberation and lens distortion. Ken Rockwell loves it but for the life of me, I can't remember what it's called!
Edit.
DxO Optics. It's version 8 that's free. Looks good too.

Where's the HP sauce Brett?
Regarding the RAW software, how much easier is it to use, say Lightroom, than the bundled application and is it more flexible? Right now I'm using Digital Photo Professional that came with my 700D which seems to work reasonably well but if I can do a lot more with something else I'd consider it. Give me some practical examples of how much better off I'd be on the processing side as that would be a real help.

Haven't posted anything for ages, but after a day of grey, the sun finally poked its head out at the end of the day, to give me a mood lifting boost.
So here's 3 shots of the same scene, but different types.

Hah surprisingly not tonight. :-)
Well citrus diet coke but I'm pretty sure that isn't what you mean.
Perhaps a little too much levity from taking a half day and heading into Chester. Another food picture but the scenery was really cool too:

LOL I was just about to check the other thread to see what Brettus was drinking tonight.
Bloody freezing here, wouldnt mind seeing a giraffe or two this evening myself.
I wouldn't mind hearing War of the Worlds again. Loved Richard Burton's narration.

Yep, it was all the space they had left ;-) the service it spookily good and the chilled foods are to DIE for :-D
I bought Digital Photo magazine out of interest. Some nice video tutorials on Photoshop. Also one on Light room which was interesting. I now understand the difference. Regarding Ps, I've played with layers many times but never used the mask option before. Lots to learn.

A very quick one taken on my phone last night at the Royal Albert Hall. I had brilliant seats for the gig.
Proof the system works.
Just got a refund automatically when I sold my bike though the post from the DVLA.
