Nice touching comments Richie.

I have some towers as well but these are from my ride out on Sunday (been too busy at work to upload them). Was hoping to get this shot last year on a trip over to my parents but it was drizzling with rain on the day so I didn't stop. The Ship of the Fens, also known as Ely Cathedral.

The place was rammed full of day trippers so I didn't stay long inside. Will have to go back though as I'm sure I can find some more interesting angles like these.

Wow looks like a cool day out John! nice shots too. Thought the first one was the only pic and we were supposed to spot a small person waving in the background somewhere :)

Liking the second fire shot Matt, the iPhone camera is pretty impressive, it has its strengths and weaknesses. Moon shots aren't gonna come out much good unless you strap it to the back of a telescope due to the wide angle of the lens, having said that, yours came out better than mine!

Richie, liking that river ruin shot! Really nice location.

No pics from me as yet, pondering something this weekend but don't think I'll get time. Have a good one everyone.

Most of you know I have a liking for odd architecture so not surprisingly this one spoke to me :).

I avoid the missing card issue by leaving mine in and plugging the USB cable to the camera to download. Having said that I do have a spare card in the bag just in case and Jessops provided a spare battery in the pack of freebies when I bought my 700D. Well carrying a spare of each.

You have some wonderful scenery near you Richie (yes, I am a tad jealous).

FWIW, I think it's brilliant as well tho my words have rather less weight behind them as I'm so poor with a camera,

Sir Trev, shame you didn't get more time at Ely, there is a wonderful tour which takes you onto the roof and you get to see the panels in the hexagonal tower close up. And some wonderful organ pipes. I'm scared of heights but it was fine for me.

Hey now, your opinion is no less valid than mine :-) I just have a habit of hamming it up a little I guess.

Incidentally, my persona here is way larger than life, I'm a meek and mild character, reclusive and socially inept. My reason for hamming it up is that I appreciate feedback myself and you guys are always so kind, so even if I've got no picture to contribute I try to add something to the thread and give back some of what I get.

My favourite part about these threads is that they are so inclusive, everyone takes part and hopefully has fun, people learn things and try out new things if they've seen something done. :)

Was the perfect day for riding but with the decreased vision decided against it less I join Matt's mate with more injuries.
That and the Mrs. was having none of it! ;)
So when she went into town to the market I slipped out on the quad bike.
Went for an enjoyable ride. Being outside makes the loss of vision not so annoying as it is inside or being on the laptop. (sigh)

Took a few pics but photo editing with bad vision is extremely difficult so I hope these are not too bad or out of focus.

Braver man than I heading out on a quad bike with vision problems :) glad it isn't too bad, the pictures look great and as usual informative! I love seeing this stuff, sort of normal but extraordinary to myself at least.

I'd love to just go exploring like that on a quad, as much as we have open spaces, much of it is either preciously owned or subject to rules and stuff. I might be mistaken but seems like no opportunity over here.

The bear feeding marks are really cool, the kind of thing we only see on TV here and that is always a step removed from reality somehow.

Keep em coming and hoping for a swift recovery :)

Here's a few from my Yorkshire trip with CMSD2 Chris last week which I've only managed to download/upload today. All taken on my little G15 as I didn't have space for a DSLR.

Wow that tilt shift works so well with this one! Again something I've tried but never managed to pull off (despite trying on some quadcopter pictures!)

OK I admit it, I've immortal, I've been around throughout history and people keep carving statues of me because I don't show up in photographs ;)

I'd love to think I look like some of the historical images but I suspect it is just that all excessively hairy people start to look alike ;)

Oh, someone sent me a link to a modern day doppelganger too:

Nice, selection!

The SX10 is now redundant. I was going to sell on eBay but they only get £50-60 so I'll probably donate it to my son. The EOS10 hasn't been used in years being a film camera. Again it's worth very little. The Ixus is lovely. Takes great shots and fits in the pocket. Ideal for events when you don't want the bulk of an SLR.

Well you don't want my 35mm one. Ebay may be your best bet. They're plenty of 700d's (probably 650's too) as people have bought them and then decided to move on to a full frame SLR

Loving the Dragon one Brett :)

Thanks! I got one with a colleague too, I suck at people pictures but I'm trying to hone my skills, didn't check the focus as I didn't want to miss the opportunity when they got bored.

Despite it's flaws I still quite like it, not too far off what I'd seen in my head, just the execution wasn't quite right.

Had hoped to use my 50mm one for a low light, shallow DOF shot too but didn't have time. I'd got 25 minutes before the park closed to find some cool stuff and get the shots.

Today I had to help look after a book signing. 300 people turned up, I was there AGES! But to his credit he signed every copy, posed for photos with everyone who bought a book and stayed way beyond the time allocated as not to disappoint anyone.

Somehow this reminds me of the introduction of Oddball in Kelly's Heroes!

Shame about the not so good memories :(

Liking the self portrait though! you're really good at them :)

Cool update LPH, nice when popular people are actually really nice people too!

Well you don't want my 35mm one. Ebay may be your best bet. They're plenty of 700d's (probably 650's too) as people have bought them and then decided to move on to a full frame SLR

I have a budget of £150 and I don't want a bridge camera. Lenses aren't included in the budget.

But I want the best I can get.

:o Aww man, I swear I didn't know.
Hope there are some happy tears in there buddy, wouldn't like to think I caused you only painful pangs.

Matt: From a quick look into availability within your budget I'd suggest something like the Canon EOS 1100D (I only know Canon really, Nikon often seem to have better value options but I'm not as familiar with their model structure) You COULD get a 450D or even a 40D (the fewer digits the higher the RANGE of model, so 4 digits = entry level, 3 digits = prosumer, 2 digits = professional, 1 digit = professional/studio plus)

I'd suggest the 1100D as it is newer than the other options, it has greater ISO sensitivity which would be useful for fast motion or some dark shots. It also supports video over the other two that seem to fall within that price band..
http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-1100D-vs-Canon_EOS_450D/specs

One point about lenses, I'd avoid any ebay specials where they suggest a huge focal length (zoom amount) for not much money. In photographic equipment you DEFINITELY get what you pay for.
If the brand doesn't feature on here http://www.camerapricebuster.co.uk/ I'd be wary of the results you'll get.

Having said that, Mister_C has bought and tried a lot of bargain lenses and had some amazing results but IIRC they were mostly branded ones that weren't quite compatible with DSLR, so they didn't autofocus and such but still good optics inside them.

Some good prices there. The EOS 1 DX was a snip at nearly £4k. 😁

Went off to London yesterday for the annual Open House weekend. You get to visit lots of interesting places often not open to the public and lots of unusual buildings, guided tours, and so on. It started as an architecture thing but has grown madly. I got to see the Roman house and baths under a building in Billingsgate (not normally open to the public due to lack of funds) but gave up hoping to see any of the big named buildings like 30 St. Mary Axe (the Gerkin), Lloyds of London or the Leadenhall Building (the Cheesegrater) as the queues were a good three hours long! They also snaked through Leadenhall Market which is a shame as the place is amazing when deserted. I went to see some of Wren's churches instead which are amazing on the inside and not at all like the grotty blackened exteriors.

Weather was rubbish so most exterior shots are dull as can be. This made me smile though. I cannot remember which building it was but it's somewhere around Bishopsgate I think.

Some really nice pictures in there John, interesting stuff to see the behind the scenes of.

Richie, I'd be able to tell you took that without the watermark, somehow has your style all over it :)

Same with Sir_Trev's too, I love this kind of shot as it is stuff I either don't see or even when I do I can't get the shot to work somehow.

I got out with my camera this afternoon aiming to get some Autumnal shots, came away with mostly other stuff but I got some nice ones. 166 pictures in 3 hours and 40 miles or so.

My favourites are here:
