Tiptree strawberries, on sale in Waitrose, yummy, no wonder the jam tastes so good. The local plums, apples and figs are also delicious right now. I've made a crumble. And if you haven't tried wasabi almonds then you must, but be warned, they are totally addictive, I have to get someone to hide them from me once I'm half way through a bag.

Star gazing in my garden and watching the planes fly by.
Nothing like relaxing in my adirondack chair on a clear evening.
I live out in the countryside so there is a good view of the stars and apparently I'm at a crossroads of airline routes.
It's nearly impossible to look at the night sky without spying several aircraft and it's easy to tell most of them are going by direction and alttitude.
Enjoying it for now but the seasons nearly over. Won't be long until night temperatures are too cool.

After weeks of trying to get hard luggage to fit I went cheap and saved myself a fortune (to now be spent elsewhere in a two wheeled form)

Getting a last minute chance to see Hamlet at the Barbican tonight with a fellow orger whose +1 had got food poisoning and couldn't make it.
I'm not one of those women who swoon over Benedict Cumberbatch but as an actor he is superb. The set was terrific, and Lewis the guide dog who accompanied us enjoyed it so much he was snoring.

A SUZUKI SV650S!
Out on the bike this afternoon the for the 120 mile round trip to my fave biker pub/pizza restaurant.
They really do have the best pizza I've tried anywhere in the world.
Drizzling rain on the southern most (and furthest point) of the trip.
Not bad quite bad enough to stop and put on the waterproofs, but just enough to keep me constantly wiping my visor.
Fortunately the best roads were all dry and after a spirited ride home, any few minutes of drizzle had been long forgiven or maybe even remebered fondly.
Sometimes it's good to be out the bike despite any weather. :riding:

Managing to avoid seeing the result of the Great British Bake Off until I could watch it on iplayer this morning, even though that meant sticking my fingers in my ears and going 'lalalala' during the radio news last night. And Nadiya won, she was my favourite, her bakes were good but her facial expressions were the best. Every time they were judging her she looked like she was being chased by a grizzly bear. I'm off to buy duck eggs now to bake with over the weekend.

I used that service last year, switched to the one recommended. Ended up £400 more expensive so I've just switched again.
Yeah I'm suspicious of those. They base it on "average usage" and I suspect they set up the standing charge/unit cost in such a way that it appears cheap on the comparisons but may not actually be in real world usage. I think they primarily rely on the fact that hardly anyone is gonna analyse their usage 12 months down the line and complain about it hard enough to cause them any grief. That and the fact that they often set their initial monthly payments way too low.

Well I hope I'm savvy enough to not make that mistake, I know my annual use so based it on that.
I'm always on the case with meter readings and get my payment adjusted as necessary.

I did a comparison and found that my provider offered Economy 7 rates cheaper than their single-rate prices. As in, even the day rate and standing charge was cheaper.
Now I don't have storage heaters but I do have a dual rate meter so it just seemed to be win/win. It's a completely daft pricing structure but that's their problem.

Today I was doing a 5 mile walk in the forest and saw a few female deer on the way. The only people we passed were the Army in training.
Then deeper into the forest we heard a bellowing barking noise and a magnificent stag entered the clearing herding his does away from us. He stood there protecting them until they had all disappeared into the thicker bracken before he gave us a final hard stare and followed them.
Such a noble creature I almost felt guilty I had a cool bag full of venison in the boot of the car.

I saw a bear today. It was a large cub approx half the size of an adult.
While I was driving back to work after lunch I saw an animal beside the road.
Wow how big is this dog? I wondered.
Just then as I approached the bear, it ran across the road in front of me and up a steep hill through the forest on the other side of the road.
Got a really good look at him as I nearly had to stop the car. His fur was jet black and quite long and it shined and glistened in the sunlight.
A beautiful creature although a bit scary when you see something that big move that fast.
