All of the Christmas stuff is over, New Year has passed and we are into January, which means that Spring is just a few weeks away.
I am playing with bits of bike and the cat is sat in my lap, how can I not smile?

The Christmas stuff isn't over until Soho have had their Christmas party on 28th Feb, It's not so much the fat lady singing as the hot chick dancing around in a provocatively unzipped Santa onesie. (VERNA I MEAN YOU!)

The cheese I bought was yummy.
And after a year of no proper heating where saying 'I'm cold every day until the silly little portable heater takes the chill off' hit me nowhere I came up with a new idea. I bought a timer for the heater then emailed the Health and Safety manager and Estates manager and told them that the heater gives off a tiny spark as it comes on and the timer says not to be used for heaters. They are moving some of the gas pipes this week... so if Lord's goes boom at 7am I'm taking no responsibility.
Within an hour Mr H&S had kicked off big time about minimum working temperatures and electrical/gas safety and bingo, they'd fixed my radiator. Sometimes H&S is actually of use! :D

Working late. Unpaid overtime. How is that a smile of the day I hear you ask? Well today we had the BBC recording 2 programmes about travel writers so I got to spend the evening with Michael Palin. He's so lovely. We have met before but sitting drinking tea with him really doesn't feel like work. Once you get to fifty the NHS leave you in no man's land with your knees in essex.
So easy as you go.

If you have to get a knee joint replaced then apparently you can't neal.

At work on a Friday, we take in turns so we get a cake baked every week. My turn this week (only once this year, thank god) and I baked a rather nice Magic Custard Cake. Was a great success and all the women were amazed!!!
google - Magic Custard cake - you'll want to make & eat it
is that a bit like a custard slice?
A bit, but you make it as one bake and it magically separates into pastry layer, custard and sponge on top. Brilliant.
just had a google and it looks good.
hhhmmm now there is an idea, that cake would make a fantastic trifle. i wonder if you could add some liqueur into the mix then bake.
alcohol would probably stop the 'magic' separation of the three parts. Just make it and have a slice with a wee glass of sherry !!!
ps. all cake gone now, last piece consumed with a brew ;-)

My big smile today was going out with my dear Wifey, we took our darling little Grandson out for a walk and then when we got back home, I got to play tickles and have a cuddle with him until his Daddy arrived.
I cannot get over how beautiful he is, I get so afraid that he is so fragile and delicate that by playing with him, I could hurt him, but his giggles are infectious and the look he gives me makes me feel like he is an old soul and I am the child. It is his first Birthday in three months and already he is turning into that perfect little person. In a funny way, having this beautiful child come into my life is healing the damage I feel from my own childhood. I really am a Grandma and I love that. When I think about it, it is amazing and I am so thankful to have such a beautiful family.
Anyway, enough of this wet waffle nonsense. My bike build is going well. :puker:
