I got the family a camera for Christmas that I wanted a few years back but couldn't afford when they were new out. Picked up a Fuji X100. My son has shown an interest in learning about photography so thought it would be good to get something that can be fully auto, or manual aperture and/or shutter. They all love it, including my wife who used to love using her Olympus Trip a few years back. Smaller than my old DSLR, so very portable with greater control and quality than a phone camera. Feels like a really solid bit of kit when using too.
Looks like a nice bit of kit too, and with a proper proper viewfinder as well. I have a Nikon D5200 but I haven't really used it since picking up an Olympus OM-D. I find it too big and bulky now!

It is nothing fancy/high end (Sony A6000), but certainly better than my old entry level DSLR was and a whole lot lighter & smaller.
Welcome to the fold. My A6600 is a fantastic bit of kit and the only real world extras I have on it over your A6000 is a bigger battery and IBIS. The lack of bulk/weight was my main drive, along with a better IQ and focusing system compared to my admittedly aging DSLR, and it ticks all the boxes for me. Enjoy!

The viewfinder is the reason i went for this one (as well as the price point). I much prefer it to trying to use a screen when using manual focus.

TBH Trev, seeing your review, experiences & switch made me look at the Sony range. Very glad i did too. Impressed with it so far and learning how it works.

Had a temp working with me the other day, I knew there was a way but he showed me how to setup a call scheduler app. We have to do a check call every hour from 9pm-5am within a certain window.
My app dials the number, navigates the menu, puts in the site code, my code and hangs up.. Time for bed :)

Ten years ago today I met someone that saved my life in a bar in Bangkok, she gave me manual CPR after I collapsed in cardiac arrest completely randomly, with no previous health problems or signs of a dicky ticker be that in my family or otherwise.
Sill don't have a diagnosis today and have to deal with quite a lot of side effects on a daily basis, but hell I'm not gonna let the current situation the world is in get me too down!

They were just trained in basic first aid and CPR through their jobs, being on the Koh San Road in Bangkok they were almost certainly a few drinks in, I however had only just arrived and had my first and barely touched beer in my hand.... waste of good beer/bad lager (delete as appropriate) I say! I try and stay in touch, saying happy birthday etc. but I don't know them at all really (plus I can't remember anything at all of that day and the days leading up to the event!) and I find it incredibly hard to talk to people that I do know. Let alone those that I don't at all really.

Yep. been waiting for daylight when I'm home to be able to see the DRZ and assess what needs to be done. On that today then back to work again tomorrow.
i decided yesterday to register a business. It is not yet trading/has a turnover but it's going to be my project for this year and beyond to try and turn it into something.
For years i've done trips away and taken many photos of them too. Most of my trips are to unseen/visited places, and the roads and landscapes the same. The photos sit on a HDD at home, and i occasionally look through them. My plan/idea (nothing has been actioned yet) is to try and incorporate reviews of my trips with photos & videos in to something touristy/review like. My aim is to try and work with local tourist boards, councils, attractions etc and see where it goes. I still have a full time job so this will be a developing sideline in the background, and something to keep me busy.
That sounds like a plan. I'll be interested to see how you get on.

It's a busy market so find a USP of some sort if you can. Sis-in-law was a journalist and editor before taking maternity only to find her entire base had vanished when she got back, as everything had gone online at once. She does a travel with kids blog now and works hard at it from all sorts of media channels. She gets lots of commissions, has won various awards and her family has been to more places and restaurants than I can count. It's takes a lot of effort to stay at the top of her game but they enjoy it.
Good luck with finding your niche and market.

Why didn't I get one of these ages ago? My new favourite tool.. the impact screwdriver. Worked a treat removing some small cross head bolts that were stuck on the DRZ carb. A few light but definite taps (instead of one large hit) and the bolts turned quarter of a turn loose and could be done by hand after that. Saved getting the dremel and left handed drill bits out.

That was one of the first tools I bought... and 95% of bolts I tried it on were too far gone - or I had terrible technique. I chalked it down as bollox and bought a compressor and impact gun.
Glad it's working for you though!
I've got one of those in the garage somewhere. Essential on 1970 jap bikes with crosshead screws made of cheese. No one had heard of JIS in those days. First thing we did was buy a hex bolt kit from Mr Fastener to replace those screws.

If it is a condensing boiler they are far more efficient at lower flow temperatures ( like 40 deg C underfloor heating ) - if return temp of water going back to boiler is much over 50 degC they do not condense, and lose the extra efficiency. As I have replaced our radiators I have fitted doubles in place of singles to get the same heat output at lower temperature. Seems that combi boilers do not condense when heating hot water anyway.

That 6 gallon fuel tank looks good, on my 2006 DRZ400SM it had 9 litres and about 90 miles was time to start looking for a service station. They say in the KLR650 spec that 'the new 10 hole injector gives better mixture control etc'.... The SV650 L7 2016 onwards also started using a 10 hole injector ( well I guess it both started and ran with a 10 hole injector LOL ).
I think I read somewhere that its not coming to the UK.

I factored in the fees so no nasty surprises there. As I don't have a Friendface account that route is out but I did consider Gumtree but you just don't get as many viewers or bidders. Room thermostat is independent of boiler flow temperature, there is a control on the boiler itself to regulate how hot the boiler gets the water before it starts to lower the gas flames ( modulation ).

As a householder I don't expect to touch anything on the boiler, British Gas service it once a year and I adjust the heat coming off the radiators by the hall thermostat and TRV's on the radiators.

I am very inquisitive about anything - so read up a lot on most things.
It seems that many of those gas people who come to the house to fiddle with the boilers do not understand condensing boilers very well at all, and they are often set up wrong, making them far less efficient than they are advertised. Not many people realise that condensing combi boilers never condense in when heating domestic hot water anyway, making them less efficient ( a system boiler with a storage tank does though ).

Try the bottom corners of the rads where the pipes go in and out, should be able to hold your hand on the coolest one for at least 30 seconds if it is below 55 degC ( normally opposite side to TRV ) I actually held a thermometer on the return pipe to boiler to check temperature. The flow needs to be at least 65 to get Domestic hot water tank over 60 deg C for legionella control, but return should be <55. Other thing is never have a TRV valve on the radiator in same room as the wall thermostat, if the valve shuts flow off through the rad the thermostat will not see the correct temperature and will overheat the house. In fact you need a few radiators without TRV on the system otherwise the flow can be shut off entirely, but the thermostat still calling for heat so pump is not making water flow around system and boiler will jut keep cutting out on over-temperature ( often a hard, manual reset thermo-tirp on the boiler itself).

I think you could be right. A BG engineer one year recommended a new condensing combi boiler for my house.(which I thought was a bit odd at the time) The engineer the next year recommended a condensing boiler ,but not a combi boiler because I already have cold water tanks in the loft and hot water cylinder in the landing
cupboard .

This sort of thing really hacks me off. A place I used to work said stuff like this and wouldn't turn the water temp down, so as a result everyone just had to use cold water to wash their hands. As the water temperature was too damn hot to use (and the taps were not mixed, so you couldn't control the temp that way).

They are supposed to have thermostatic mixer valves upstream of hot tap to limit water to about 40degC. I know how you feel though, when I was in industry they had mixer valves on the taps that office staff used but on the shop floor toilets had just a choice for freezing cold or scalding. Seriously though Legionella is a killer and happily breeds in water tanks that store water below 60degC, a lot of hospitals have the water continuously circulating in hot water pipes and returning to storage tank, so that the pipes stay at a high temperature to stop bugs breeding, but they have mixer valves for everyone to stop scalding :) 60 degree water will not scald you, even though it feels like it is doing just that. I am shocked that those Quooker boiling water taps are legal, boiling water straight from the tap - who did the elf and safety assessment on that ?

I think you could be right. A BG engineer one year recommended a new condensing combi boiler for my house.(which I thought was a bit odd at the time) The engineer the next year recommended a condensing boiler ,but not a combi boiler because I already have cold water tanks in the loft and hot water cylinder in the landing
cupboard .
If you realise that they send the techs to your house to dust off the boiler and polish the case so that they can tick the 'boiler serviced' box with the intention of selling you a new, latest 'fad' boiler. And BG are eye wateringly expensive when they install the new boiler that you didn't need anyway, it takes a long time to pay for decrease in fuel use you may or may not get when you have just paid >£2,500 for a new extremely complicated boiler, and if you decide to get Alexa or Hive controls at the same time you can double that cost.

I had to stopo myself from saying before but that is exactly my experience with BG. I paid for homecover with them on an older boiler, when it broke 9 engineers turned up couldn't or wouldn't diagnose it and a few tried to condemn it instead for reasons ranging from 2cm too close to a window (which wasn't the reg at time of installation), insufficient water flow rate (it had worked for 12 years prior), pressure release valve dangerous (it pointed at a pitched roof and ran into a rw down pipe, IF a burglar was scaling my roof at the time of me over filling the boiler I could have been sued :smt108), and then more plausible reasons like chipset failure. I ended up replacing the solenoids myself for about £5 and it worked for another 7 years (possibly still going now).
Oops I'm bordering on gripe territory. Smile is I have a new boiler with 10 year warranty from a reputable local firm now and it's warm quiet and shiny.

My smile is building work has started on the extension.
Old garage and conservatory flattened.
I'll soon have a lovely warm garage to potter in. Apparently Mrs is excited about a new kitchen, which I'm only vaguely interested in as the garage rear exit opens into it.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210213/d88f2a5f52b5097be98143328e3540e5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210213/0c1e1081093cfb8966a9550d4dac01e1.jpg

Just "paid" £0 tax on a car that we had delivered this morning. Mixed SOTD as there are things I'm a bit unimpressed with as far as the dealer goes. Still, we are mobile as a family again.

Most modern 'service' techs just can't be bothered ( or are not skilled enough to ) to diagnose down to component level, they would rather replace big, expensive, high profit lumps ( preferably ones that are not covered by your service contract ) - and what is more expensive and high profit than a complete boiler ?

Civic Tourer diesel. It's allowed into the forthcoming clean air zone in Bristol as it's Euro 6. But not allowed into the diesel zone, which the dirtier petrol version is. The diesel also gets double the mpg compared to the petrol and pulls without revving the engine to the redline.

Diesels always been much higher in NOx and particles than petrol, which is why London allows euro 4 petrol in, Nox is really unhealthy, and diesel vehicles rely greatly on regular servicing to maintain emissions, where petrol stay clean even without servicing.

As mentioned in one of my earlier posts, we'd have gone electric if it was realistic and affordable, or hybrid if the actual mpg, extra cost of vehicle (because hybrid) and hype followed through, or petrol if we were allowed to continue to be able to get to work in it in the forthcoming Bristol clean air zone. After all the research and decision making we've ended up having to get a diesel again as it's (remotely) affordable to buy (as far as cars can be.. we can never really afford one, we just sacrifice any chance of holidays etc), ok costs to run and we're allowed to use it in a city that's setting up an illogical system in the coming year or two. Various factors essentially made the decision for us. I didn't want another diesel but the alternatives didn't add up.
For what it's worth I commute my 20 miles mostly either cycling or on a motorbike. Sometimes in my very cheap old van if it's dangerously cold and icy or I need to carry a van load of stuff like tools. A lot of the time the nasty diesel vehicles in our family sit unused on the drive. Especially over the last year.

The new sofa and armchair we ordered four months ago has been delivered. There is a delightful smell of leather now as you enter the drawing room in Trev Towers and my recliner is jolly cosy and very comfy. Let's hope they last the same 20+ years as the old ones.

Wasn't having a go, it is the fault of government that diesels were idolized simply because hey were concentrating solely on CO2, and ignored everything else. Turned out that with Germans fiddling the figures they fooled governments and buyers, but the yanks not so easily fooled.

Even they only found it out by accident.

Even now the messages being given out are so confused. Our diesel is zero tax. The petrol version is £180 per year, the same that our 13 year old previous diesel was.
I should have put "dirty petrol" in inverted commas in my original post. I don't believe it is and understand all the other issues with diesel particulates etc. I was referring to the way Bristol council is portraying them by restricting their access to the CAZ (Clean air zone) but allowing our diesel version in. All a bit of a joke and mixed messages for the public too. It all boiled down to us just needing to buy a car we are allowed to use and stupidly that's the diesel. Ideally we'd have a small electric car for city use, but budget, space and the need to transport a family sometimes means we can't.

Are you a felon, and wanted by several intelligence agencies?
Or working for several agencies on a secret assignment and currently deep under cover?
Not being able to share anything, must be hard.

Yep, come on, you could maybe share with us a few things. Do you have a bike, what brought you to the forum, where in the world are you? Maybe we could get a proper conversation going with you then.....

I spent all weekend outside weeding the garden, digging (homemade) compost into the veg plots and washing the cars. Even though the cars hardly move these days they need washing thanks to the number of muppets with wood burners around the estate which stink the area out and leave ash deposits everywhere. Whenever people blindly repeat the rubbish from the sales blurb about this not being the case I smile at them and say rude words under my breath. At least I'm more active again now its lighter and less cold.

The DRZ appears to be running (much better).
I also got to work on it in the sunshine today, which makes a change from working on it outside in the snow a few weeks back!
