I got up this morning and as I knew I'd be at home all day I made my own white crusty bread and rolls. Just had a slice toasted with butter and Marmite. Blooming lovely. Proper crust, fluffy middle, no artificial anything. Yum.
Telling the customer who bought there car form another network it's un safe to drive.

The Monkey is home from uni for Chrimbo. Lady Poppy and the mutt are both really pleased although I'm only mildly happy after we had to turn back after getting just 20 miles int the return journey after she realised she'd left something behind.
Riding with a mate in the wind on the rivers edge with no lights through tunnels along walk ways in the dark.
By human power only .. such fun but not at the time :)

I remember when it was 37p a litre when I first started driving - and that was only 1988 so not just after they invented cars!
I remember the total chaos when it went a pound per gallon and the mechanical pumps had to be changed...
Yes it was a shock when I filled up my 250 RD.....(on L plates of back then).

4/6d per gallon! :D in 1960 full-fat fourstar, no unleaded there and no litres or decimal coins.
Don't think I've smiled since.

Looking at what you pay for fuel makes our prices look pretty good...
GBP = AUD2.15
Lately I've been paying about $1.20/litre... or 56p.
If I fill up at the office it's a hair over a dollar... or about 47p.
4star 2/8p a gallon in 1966. From the fleet pumps at work. A few years later, I had a Colt Celeste 1600 and was filling it with 4star for 2 years until I RTFM at which point I discovered that it was tuned to run on 2 star.
It ran better and was more economical on the 2 star.

My ex bought himself a 1967 Mustang Fastback. He also qualified as a pilot. When he came down from Sheffield to visit petrol prices were at their peak so he rented a little Piper plane as he reckoned that worked out cheaper than driving the beast down the M1. He sold the Mustang soon after to a guy who lived in the South of France. We reckoned the fuel costs to drive it there would be almost as much as he paid for the car! [emoji3]

Yes, but what a glorious way to drive there. My colleague has a Mustang, which he drives on sunny days, I'm very envious

I used to love going out in it. But he also took me out in the plane too. I was never allowed to drive the car, I did get to fly the Piper.
Back from Germany without hitting the epic traffic we got stuck in on the way down. Also straight on the Eurotunnel without delay.

Hearing a friend had been diagnosed with cancer................
But they caught it in time, so she'd been given the all clear after the tumour had been removed.
She's still got to go through the radiotherapy, but its better than it being found out much later.
Fed up with shizz happening this year, so a positive post for a change.

Thirty eight years ago on a Saturday in May, a few mates from the band dropped by and on a whim we went to see the new Star Wars movie that had just debuted.
Fast forward to today.
I mentioned to the Mrs. that the new Star Wars movie had debuted at our small local theatre this week
and on a whim we were off to see it.
We had a great time

Lovely days driving my Mum to drop her at my sisters place in North Norfolk. Bright sunny day, low traffic levels on most of the roads and scenery to die for, its very underrated North Norfolk.
compared to the summer the roads were deserted.
tunes on the stereo suited my mood, and i arrived home in a chilled out state of mind, despite doing nearly 190 miles

+1 to this, I love North Norfolk
My dad lives to the East in Winterton on Sea, but every year we have 2 weeks in Wells, which really recharges the batteries!
Brancaster is the place I'd move to in a hearbeat if I won the lottery (I'd have to play it first tho :))

My chilled out drive started from Stanhoe where my sister lives, turned right in Docking and drove to Brancaster that way. It was a stunning view today.

Nice day out with Lady Poppy to Oxford Castle Unlocked. Shame the train from High Wycombe does not yet go through to Oxford proper (stops at the new Parkway station for now with a Park n Ride service) but it's still nicer than the M40 in the car. Must get round to buying Her Ladyship some new bike clobber...
Today's latest plans/spend was a new sleeping bag, dry bag for the tent & planning bike trips for next year.
2016 will have more trips than this year!
Oooh I also bought some new dry bags today (among other thins, my poor bank card!). Awaiting delivery of a new tent as I also have grand plans for 2016. Cycling and motorcycling, and maybe even some walking!

That sounds like great fun! Sort of thing that happens in our house, we ended up having a peanut fight one time. We were finding peanuts all over the place for weeks!
Spent most of the day on the SV and indulged in some film photography. Rode out to Kersey, Lavenham and then over to Felixstowe. Film is in for processing and will do the black and white stuff myself tomorrow. Dry roads and lots of Sun.

Dry January. That was the plan. So far I've drunk more this week than I would normally. I even had a large glass of wine at lunchtime on Wednesday and I don't normally drink at work. Just getting myself home after half a bottle of rose at a leaving drink for a colleague.
Maybe I'll try for a dry a February instead.

A celebration in a nearby village with a feast where all the meat is of locally taken wild game, deer, turkey, bear, rabbit, squirrel, duck, fish, etc.

'The Beast Feast' was awesome!
Must say I was expecting some barely edible food for aquired tastes only, but I was more than pleasently surprized.
Deffinately the best deer meat I've ever had (tenderloin, deep fried) and the thick sliced smoked turkey breast was a hit with everyone as well.
I've never had wild game that tasted anywhere near that good.
I guess it all depends on who's cooking it and how!
This was a true culinary delight.
Equally surprizing was the guest list which included all the 'who's who' in this part of the county.
Politicians, business owners, socialites as well as locals from this tiny village.
I don't how I got an invite but I got invited back again for next year.
Not the crowd I was expecting to see at something called a 'Beast Feast' but a good time was had by all.

I made mushroom soup today for Mr LPH's lunches next week. A proper wintry Sunday activity.
This left me with a couple of shallots, a few mushrooms, some cream, creme fraiche and fresh thyme. So instead of chucking it I griddled some chicken, roasted some leftover potatoes found in the fridge and then made a sauce from all the soup ingredient leftovers by adding a stock cube and some white wine I didn't finish on Friday. Added a big spoon of dijon mustard and cooked the chicken in the sauce and the potatoes in the oven while my bread baked.
Delicious, and saved wasting anything.

Last week I'd arranged to see the surgeon who put my arm back together 6 years ago but we had to cancel because of the doctors strike. So I saw him tonight instead. I got back to Liverpool Street to find that if I'd travelled home at the normal time I'd have been stuck for hours as my train line was closed. I've had a really nice dinner in a cosy restaurant instead of being stuck with thousands of grumpy stranded commuters. It never normally works out this way, usually when I leave to get home early I end up delayed.
