I have a week off coming up and I REALLY do not want to spend half of it in a queue for the tip, so I think I'll just wait! The last of the garden waste that could not go in the compost bins is finally being picked up in the green wheelie bin on Friday - it was stacked high in the shed while that part of the collection routine was suspended during the earlier lockdown. It's taken four bin loads to get rid of it all. The other odds and sods can just stay in the garage.

09-06-20, 05:46 PM
our local tip has implemented a booking system, with metered time slots. So you can only go in when it is your time. Hopefully that should relieve the queues & the wait.

Getting a bit fed up with the weather now. We were supposed to be exploring Snowdonia this week but, well, you know... Kept the week off as I was getting a bit fed up with the relentless workload but we've had rain every day. After the fantastic spring we just had I get rain on my week off. F*/^%. I've got to tidy up the garage now as I have no more excuses to actually start making that bookcase I promised to build for Lady Poppy.

Nightmare for all of us really. Like yours Gary my water butts are nicely filling up and I did manage to get a ride in on Tuesday, albeit rather curtailed as the weather closed in.

Garage is now reasonably tidy ready for me to cover everything in sawdust. Even with the elderly Vax plumbed in every time the amount that gets out into air is amazing whenever the Skill saw or router come out to play. The chop saw is even worse but the timber for this project is too big for it at 400mm wide.

Sir Trev
19-06-20, 05:01 PM
Rain. Holiday. Grumpy... It brightened up a bit this afternoon so Lady Poppy and I went for a cycle ride down to the local retail park as she needed to go to Hobbycraft. So many people there it was mad. Best bit was I waited at the bike loops and listened to the poor assistants outside Wickes trying to politely tell increasingly grumpy people that the store was closing in ten minutes, it was too full to let any more people in, the tills shut down at ten past and they'd not have time to get their stuff and queue/pay before then. Most of the gruff-looking trade types were fine but some of the entitled a-holes getting out of their posh cars were almost screaming at them as "it says 4pm on the website and that's five minutes away!" "I demand to see the manager!" etc. So the manager came out and said exactly the same thing, equally politely. When the idiots had flounced off swearing I asked the staff if they were OK, and they said it was like that every day, they were getting used to it, and thanks for the concern.

Good evening world. Been collecting together all the no-longer-used camera gear here at Trev Towers. Got two 35mm compacts, two 35mm SLRs (four lenses between them), two compact digicams and my DSLR with three lenses/flash. Finally worked out roughly what I could get if I eBay'd them all, which was a shock. Fingers crossed I get a reasonable trade in deal on a new lens and flash for the Sony.

I also bought a book I’ve been meaning to read for some time, “Wilding” by Isabella Tree. Then on to a great little vegan eaterie, Fat Rabbit for a birthday lunch.
Just had some dinner a while ago which had in it spuds and kale from the garden, washed down with a bottle of Brains dark ale.
