cant see a rack going notchy unless you kerb it a lot, more like the electric pump is needing new brushes.

the 1ltr cars are ok in the town but get them out of town and they are like clockwork toys.. need winding up, that and they start running out of puff at 70. no thanks.

Lady Poppy drives like a careful nun so it's not due to kerbing. I could see a damaged gaiter when I had a peek under the car before taking it in so I'm guessing its cud and salt over the years causing wear.

Not all 1.0 engines are the same. The turbocharged Ford Ecoboost lumps are a lot different to the sort of thing you get in a base model shopping car that Grannys buy. 70 in the loaner I've got until tomorrow is smooth and quiet, with a fair surge in reserve when you go for an overtake. It's as tourquey as a 1.8 16v from five years back and very handy. Try one and you'll be as surprised as I was.

ooohhh and its a load of borloks about diesels being shizz in town, i average 55mpg in town in my 1.6 yeti where the 1.1 or what ever it is only gets 35-40mpg in town. i'm sooooooo glad i never listened to the salesman. 600 miles to a tank aint half bad :-)

Racks can go. As for the Ecoboost 1.0 They aint bad but they need to be driven enthusiastically for them to be any fun.

My BM went in for looking at a couple of weeks back and they gave me a new 118i. I thought they had forgotten to put the engine in. I suppose you get used to 400nm torque and 200+ HP of a diesel. The 118i Also only returned 28mpg. My 123D returns around 40mpg on average (2L Twin Turbo)

Still, im sure that Diesels will start increasing in running costs due to the pollutants they emit

I'm now poorer by quite a lot but Lady Poppy's car now handles a LOT better. Quieter too as they also replaced a suspension top mount which was causing a rumbling noise we hadn't noticed as it was a gradual deterioration.

Viney you're quite right in that the 1.0 needed a few more revs and the torques were not quite as satisfying as my 1.6 Ecoboost. At least the extended test drive I effectively got means I have made up my mind to get the newer 1.5 version in a Focus when we replace the old Mondy later this year.

Sorry mate,it's St Runious Church in Glen Vine (marown).Fantastic place to watch from, food and drinks available all day with toilets as well. After getting let down on Friday by the lady who we usually stay with the last 2 years ( no fault of hers ) my son rung someone up that we met in a restaurant in Douglas in 2014, he gave us their phone Number and he kept it on the pin board in the kitchen, and said they can put us up no problem and £10 a night cheaper than usual.Result.Anyone from the org going this year....we are there from the 1st - 12th,and would you believe it 2 minute walk from the church !!!

Sorry mate I haven't,I'm in Spain until end of April, but what I did was put it on a paddock stand and offer it up and pack it up with some timber into position,I then got some 1 MM x 15 MM bar and then proceeded to cut and bent to suit, I remember 1 went to the exhaust clamp on the throttle side near the brake peddle, and the others just picked up any where I could. No need to undo any casing bolts but I put some 1/2" rubber tape washers either side of the belly pan, followed by chrome washers to cushion followed by some chromed Allen studs and bolts, make sure you leave a fair gap between the pan and the exhaust at the rear or put something heat shield as mine got a little too near and is a lovely toasty colour.not as hard as I thought it would be and as of yet not fallen off,Good Luck

Trev B
05-03-16, 05:00 PM
Hang on,there's this one and a thumb nail about 7 up from this message ( in the church yard ),that back one goes to the exhaust clamp, the front one went to the oil cooler rad but I'm sure I had to round the head off the bracket a bit,and the other side I can't remember( getting on a bit you know) !!!

Grrr I'm angry now. My work are forcing us on to monthly wages from weekly. Straight to a 3 week gap, then on to monthly. They said we can have an advance of £400 in the middle of the 3 week and first 4 week gap. But it is taken out of next months pay (a week later). Basically pointless. I asked if the £400 could be increased or added to from all the overtime I have been working. Nope. So they want me to take my weekly wage on Friday and make it last 2 weeks. If I wasn't trying to get a mortgage just now I would tell them to shove it up their a55. They treat us like ****
