you'd want k7 or k8 shock, be a massive upgrade for the pointy but you'd loose a fair bit of ride hight

a k4/k5 will add 2mm lol but the stiffness on a k7/k8 would be better but your loosing 15mm on there
I resorted to borrowing a controller off one of the bike in the workshop, its been fooking freezing this week.

Yea but im only 12st hoping to lose some so doubt i would need more stiffness + im happy with my current shock, its only if and when it fails at the mo
I've got a K5 one on the way, looked at all the options and this one seemed the bestest.

Slighty gained but only about 3mm
Slighty gained but only about 3mm
So a 600 or 750 shock could be on the table as well then

im never getting rid of the bike, will keep it for ever just get a 2nd bike if i want one, the sv is perfectly adequate for road use

spose i'd swap stuff if i can afford it but the chavtastic gsxr looks good for my next bike just waiting for the restriction on my license off.

Ive already said why i'd do the shock and that is if mine were to go, on ebay people seem to want the same for an sv shock as they do a gsxr shock so worth it imo

did u, i missed that, why?
Because
1 i havent got the money too
2 i think the suspension is ok as it is, its the only big bike i really know so =\
3 when my restrictions up in October i may / may not keep the bike
Im mean sure if i could right now i would but at the mo i just cant, i may sped up the process if i get a full time job but thats only a maybe at the mo
TheOnlyNemesis
11-02-10, 09:39 PM
i've never had a problem with the suspension meself so dunno why people wanna swap it all the time, your restriction is out this year?
Yus
and i agree, i find mine adequette enough, sure some people like Darren and Gav are ghey... i mean are gunna keep their bikes for ages but for now my bike does the trick, i out corner my mate and he has a 1999 R6 its not all down to the bike its rider as well i know but still

yeah but when you weigh alot you need better suspension, the sv is like a shopping trolly in the corners

I agree with that, the SV suspension is ****e and i only weigh 10 stone!!!
Trouble is, ride something with a bit of quality and you'll soon realise!

the sv is good but when you get more experience and like gaz says start riding more bikes you realise how bad it is, the sv and a sport bike handle completely differently and if you push the sv hard round a corner, and i do mean hard it will crab

True, just like when i rode my Dads ZX6 breifly, my god it stopped, ok yes the 4 pot calipers would do that but didnt dive that much under breaking either, it felt stiff but it hadnt been set up for me but i could tell in those 2 minutes of riding it was far better
I can't wait til summer so i can take the Daytona out, that thing is a missile!
Wideboy
11-02-10, 09:53 PM
i woke up to the suspension issues when i rode an R1....... handled loads better than the sv and its weighs more ...... i then realised it was bad

True, only ever rode a Honda Varadero 125 and the SV and was getting confident last year but since the accident i ride so timid that i doubt my suspension is even used, lol. I get to try my cousins gixxer this year and can't wait maybe then i'll know a bit more about the SV's performance.
I want summer, gets a bit scary in the wet some times, but fun *leans left to err pass a car* back end kicks out *leans right to get in front of car again* back end steps out :p

Happened with me when i stacked my gilera dna i hated leaning even as a pillion on my dads bike i would try and sit up and he had to fight to lean the bike over lol, whens your restriction up?

I dont mind winter, just on my tyres at the mo its a bit dodgy, the rear has about 1.4mm tread, trouble is i go into a corner and then think **** too fast too much lean and have to try and pick it up and slow down, mainly do that on round abouts
TheOnlyNemesis
11-02-10, 10:07 PM
my front tyre is on the TWP marker and so getting some storms in the hope of better grip and can get my confidence back.

Im gunna get Pilot power 2cts, thing is some parts of my rear tyre in the centrew i found 2mm, 1.6mm and 1.4mm  ill go with the 1.4 tho dont wanna get nicked for it
TheOnlyNemesis
11-02-10, 10:20 PM

I had them on my GSXR, I quite liked them. Feela bit wooly in the wet at the start of a ride till they have some heat, mind you that was the only thing I could fault them on. I liked the profile, only tyre I have ever felt confident enough to get lent right over and get rid of my rear chicken strips...

I never really like Michellin (sp) i was always a bridgestone person but after they fobbed me off after my front 021 wore excessivly i swore id never buy their tyres again, some one i know also recommened them to me as he has them on his Tuono and he loves them. What tyres have you got now?

Ergh Bridgestones. Yuck, never ever again. Bl**dy 014's that my GSXR came with robbed me of all my confidence horrible things.
At the mo it has Metzler Z6's on it, as I did a couple of big trips GM1 and a trip to France in 2008 and I wanted something that would cope with the motorway milleage a little better.
The rear is tired now and square and needs replacing...
What you thinking about getting next?
fizzwheel
11-02-10, 10:39 PM
Pilot Power 2CT's... probably... I'll have a look and see what else is about though...
Cool, i think another id like to try would be the Diablo Rosso's also the diablo supercorsa's but dont think i could justify them unless i knew i was going to be pushing them and using the bike for fun trips out around the twisties every day or on a track
fizzwheel
11-02-10, 10:51 PM
I tried the Corsa III a while ago. I quite liked those to. Milleage was a little bit more from the rear, they work slightly better in the wet, and the feel when cold is better. The profile is sharper so the bike tips in faster which can be a little unnerving... I dont see the point in Supercorsa's on a road bike TBH. The Rosso's might be worth a try though....
