HT !! Yeah thats what I said lol
Yeah said something about going up the loom ...... ????
Wideboy
19-02-10, 06:49 PM
the ht lead is connected to a loom
if he follows the HT lead he will find the coil on the left hand side of the frame above the crank case, i could see no possible way of getting to it
OH MAN !!!! This is why I need him to join, cos I have no idea what I'm talking about. All I know is you put petrol in the top, oil in when theres none in the window and it goes .......

Will convince him to join to discuss properly cos I have no idea what I'm talking about. All I found out is that it has a K & M filter I didn't know about!!! Wicked :D

hello peeps my make up is ok so free to talk lol.
I have taken off the rear h.t lead leaving the front one still attached and it wont even fire, the other way round it will run quite smooth.
Have not yet taken the plugs out to find if the spark is strong or weak.....
P.s what size is the plug? too deep to sod about with better to ask lol

Sounds like the front then's at fault then - it could be something simple like a faulty plug.
IIRC plug size is 16mm AF, if she hasn't traded her sv toolkit for lipstick then the sparkplug socket tool in there is really useful as it folds which means you can remove the plug without taking off the radiator or anything.

so your not firing on the front?

19-02-10, 07:15 PM
easiest way to test for a spark is take the plug out, plug it back into the HT and just hold it up to the frame, make sure your clear and start
yeah i know gav what size is the plug mate.
Dave20046
19-02-10, 07:18 PM

I answered above - 16mm (i think)
cheers dave, there is no tool kit with it been traded by the looks. doh lol
What Dave said, check the tool kits there and you should find the plug removeal tool so you can just compare that to a socket set
Or not
hold on a tick ill go check what the socket size is that i use to do my plugs

duno the plug number, the curvy is cr8e and cr9e NGK but the pointy will probably need a hotter plug?
It is revving up to 3k on one and then after 3k it is fine all the way through the revs
and its a CR8E on the pointy as well
Wideboy
19-02-10, 07:27 PM
16
yeah but whats the NGK number?
Wet or knackered then id say
Thats what mine would do, unscrew the HT lead front the front plug cap dry out the lead and the plug cap see if that works also stick a bit of vasaline in both ends of the plug cap that "should" help stop the water
yeah but whats the ngk number?
cr8e
Wideboy
19-02-10, 07:29 PM
cr8e
same as curvy then
and its a CR8E on the pointy as well
Magic!!!! get a couple tomorrow anyway. (p.s. its ME lol)
GAV - do you have a plug spanner we can borrow ???? otherwise the rad is gonna have to come out
Dave20046
19-02-10, 07:30 PM
I'd really advise swapping the plugs before you tear anymore hair out, best to start with the simple things.
However, unfortunately, without the standard toolkit I was left with a socket and long extension as my only options - this combo couldn't fit past the radiator to get at the front plug - used to have to remove the radiator to do the plugs (but it could be due a coolant swap anyway?).
Wideboy I think amanda has a curvy? Which is a cr8e NGK code plug (so's the pointy too if I recall correctly.)

yeah i'll bring it along, i'll bring a spare cr8e aswell as i got loads of them

Its not a wet issue - already checked it, been through all that. Under 3k revs it wont generate a spark, above 3k both cyclinders work fine.

I got K4 so pointy

I didnt think you could change the plugs with out dropping the rad.
Id drop the rad any was as it gives much more room and its only 5 minutes to get it off
Cymraeg_Atodeg
19-02-10, 08:09 PM
You don't have to take the rad off, I didn't on Suzi. You just got to lossen it a bit and work with it propped up
Dave20046
19-02-10, 08:09 PM
There's a difference between dropping and removing. With the wrong tools it's a case of removing.
Cymraeg_Atodeg
19-02-10, 08:18 PM
That is true, without the right tools everything is always harder to do
I always undo the top bolt and bottom bolt on mine, shift the radiator left (as your sitting on the bike) to dislocate it from its holding lug unplug the horn and lower the radiator and rest it on the wheel

Yep, that would be 'dropping' it.
