You'll get back on when you are ready. I remember when I nearly got taken off Garry thought he would never get me back on. heading to the egg run and refused to miss it. Got back on and went Never thought about it. Now however i think would be a different matter.

I thought i wouldnt be able to get back on either, but work let me out on their 110cc scooter every weekend :D (well, they want their lunch) its not the same, its fun but it kinda shows me i have still got some confidence, i didnt let it knock me when i had my first off on my moped, but then i kinda had no choice as it was my only transport, hopefully ill get back on my sv and i wont worry about it too much. Hopefully it will be ready for me to ride this week, going to do a bikesafe course and when (if) i get a full time job i would like to do some IAM as well.

HU - I'm not sure. That first time was April 06 I passed in May 05 and covered about 800 miles and was the first time out in 06. Guy over took a tractor on a blind bend on a country road leaving me with a choice of car or sheer dropand barbed wire. Inexperience took over and I hit the back brake and fishtailed it ( honda CBF250) dropped both feet and used them to keep me upright with no advance training and sheer determination to get to that egg run and prove that I wasn't going to be a statistic
Now I think I over analyse things and try to work out if it was something I had done/not done. is.

I honestly hope that I am the same - I'm more defensive now ( got a great buzz of causing £4k damage to Lexus door) I've never really had another close call ( like that) since then, but there is always that thought I may not be so bolshy anymore

Thats one of the reasons i want to do some advanced training, i know i should of gone for the rear brake and should of been gong slower for the corner, considering its caught me out many times before, my line was good i was close to the white line as possible but the car made me panic and i went for the front brake, you learn from your mistakes though :(

I cannot recommend advance training enough but I am biased I am an IAM observer for bikes and I can see the difference it made in not only my bike riding but driving the car too.
It does give you some more confidence but it can be hard to break the habits.
Though I'll admit there is a corner going up to Crieff that I get wrong everytime I go that road for the first time in the season. I've been lucky so far but I'm going to have to get it sorted as that luck will run out one day.
But defo go for IAM - if there anything like our crowd we are a bunch of nutters!!:-dd

My Dad used to do CBT's and a bit of observed riding before i was born, think he wants to get back into it as well.

I will defo go for IAM once ive got a job and can afford not to work weekends, hopefully if i get into the police they may offer training as well, every little helps!

Just had to make a transfer to pay for Dans birthday pressie and ended up having to request a supervisor who thought I was being unreasonable until she realised the advisor had got EVERY SINGLE DETAIL WRONG and then put it right for me. After the transfer was done, she asked if I would allow her to listen to the phone call and call me back as she thought I may have been being, "over critical".

She just called back and said I deserved a medal as most customers that have to speak to advisors that show, "that level of incompetence" lose their tempers and make matters worse.

I asked if the advisor would get some training and she said, "in about 6 months time".

So....if you bank with HSBC and call them....if you hear the voice of a very polite Swedish bloke called David (?)...

yeah he's been looking for a thou for a while, he test rode mine and he lives it but he's planning on nekkid'ing it :)

only did a 40 mile commute to work but it was rather pleasant.. found myself getting off 2 junctions early to see what it's like for filtering/low speed stuff, bit less arduous than the thou :)

stopped by parents house to show my dad - he rev'd it to 12 and screwed his eyes tight shut with a petrified look on his face lol... (he's got a 1962 triumph t21, 350cc single thing with aobut 8k miles on the clock :D)

defo gonna look into a steering damper, maybe a satnav which'll sit nicely on the harris frame (iirc?) and possibly some newer/nicer mirrors as the old ones like they're off a metro but apart from that it's so light and lovely to ride :D

Some forces do accept Scottish Transferees but none in the area that I am looking at.

It may be the only way I can do it. Resign up here and then apply down there. Would mean a large drop in salary and also the loss of the security of being out of my probation and it would mean a lot of hard work again, and a lot of repeated studies, ie, Road Traffic Act, Misuse of Drugs Act, etc etc etc.

Q - Yeah, there would be a lot of legislation I would have to learn but there is also a lot of it that is the same in England/Wales as it is in Scotland. IE - RTA1988 and MDA1971.
