Snap!! Great fun...even when I was standing directing traffic in it earlier!! Up to my ankles!
its great isn't it i love it :D
Well, i cleared enough snow to get doris out of the garden and bring me to work today. However, she was a bit reluctant to get up. 1st off the cover was frozen solid and i had to beat it to get it off. Bless. Still, nice and slippery out there. Main roads are ok. As for snow, i love the snow, but i just wish that they would grit the bottom half of my road. The top half is a local bus route so that gets done.
morning all..... i got to work without falling on my ****! Whoop

Yep...didn't do the road in front of our house last night and we ended up out there until 3am trying to stop an accident happening. One lorry coming up the hill ended up slipping back and almost jacknifing, ending up taking up two lanes and being about 3ft into the only other lane. Amazingly the next 5 lorries coming down the hill managed to stop using low gears and kerbs but there were still some complete idiots out there.
Actually, I'm so annoyed about some of the driving we saw last night and this morning and quite dismayed that so many people have no common sense, I'm going to start a thread so we can all moan!

We must have had a bit of snow over the weekend. The road that leads up into ours is shut and the road outside our house is rather slippy.
I got mugged by my neighbours when I went to scrape the Maverick off this morning and dropped a few of them in town on the way into work.
Heater Matrix is definately gone, its booked in tomorrow, been told its a dash out job and will be £300+ just for the labour gah...
Cant you buy a radiator and a power inverter? A nice Dimplex in the back would look rather fetching, along with a radiator cover
woo hoo my holidays started today offically and i have job to go back to so all is well.
i'm off to brave the snow and post my secret santa pressie ( arrived 20 mins ago) our road is white slippy compacted snow and i'm looking forward to seeing how the car will deal with it - all of 10m tilli get to the bus route - it'll be fun coming back in though least there is loads of spaces in the car park to drift into
i will then go to the park to

Afternoon people
I want the snow to go GG because its just ruining my day, when i was at school great, couldnt get enough of it (except it would go the next day....) now im not at school it stays for 4 days!!
I just cleared a path way on my drive as its still up to my ankles, also checked the anti freeze in the coolant in my car and put some more screen wash in, then thought i'd start it up to make sure it still works to find the service light come on!!!
woo hoo I wub the snow!!
i'm cold wet amd grinning from ear to ear.
me think soups and rolls for lunch
Rain n sleet in the city.
To reset you service indicator (Works on all VW's and yours is a VW underneath)
Put key in ignition, Hold down the trip reset button, turn on ignition (but dont start) until you get 3 or 4 lines. release button, job done

How does the service indicator calculate when you need a service anyway? Does it just tot up the miles between services (i.e. you reset to zero and it keeps a count) or does it take into account anything else?
Cheers guy, i want to do an oil change in it at least, plugs dont need doin till 80k! and theyve been in there since the car was new.
I dont know ASH, i think it looks at it two ways 10k miles or 1 year, but it defo hasnt done 10k since its last service

It depends, on modern cars the service plan is pre programmed into the computer by the maker and it will twll you when to do cambelt ect

I see
Maria;s car just comes up with "service now", upon which I'll get the oil and oil filter changed and the other filters changed, and the spark plugs changed if they wern't done the previous time.
I make mental note of the milage anyway, if it gets to 8000 miles since prev. service and the indicator dosnt come on, then I'll have the oil changed at least
Yea mine just flashes service then goes off after 10 secs and show the overall car mileage
Vw in particular have a variable service schedule. Its quite clever as it works out the type of driving done average speed etc then varies the service intervals. if you service your car on an annual basis, then you ignore the service indicator. Some VWs use Long life oil and dont get changed for 20k
Wideboy
21-12-09, 02:30 PM
Mines due every 12k but i change everything at 10k, i did thw cambelt about 5k ago now i think, i've covered loads of miles in the car this year cos of the bike
That reminds me mine was serviced last year before i got it and books been stampted dated, shown that belt has been changed but dont think ive got any reciepts and they didnt note down mileage think i need to ring them up to make sure
You again!

I see
My dad (car mechanic anyway) uses castrol semi synthetic oil in maria's car. I read in the handbook though that long life oil can be used, but for what maria does its not entirely nessecary. I was amazed to find out spark plugs can be good for over 25,000 miles in some cases. Her cam belt was changed at 42,000 miles
I want 20,000 mile service intervals on my bike!

its raining outside, wooo!!

I was wrong my plugs should be changed every 4 years or 40,000 miles! sod that i think i might change them soon feels like its lacking pull, it is amazing how long car service intervals are compared to a bike and what needs replacing, my old astra 1.6 16v the cam belt was changed at 80,000 miles or 8 years
My Dad's current company car Mondeo 1.8 TDCI service is every 12,500 miles and its only 2 years old (57 reg) its just coming up for its 6th yearly service as he's just hit 72,000 miles!
Also its raining here too yay!
Crikey, just looked out the window at work!! Looks like its the bus home for me tonight...sod riding the bike home! Lucky she will live in the secure underground car park tonight! Poxy weather

Quedos - What happened??? You OK?
Just my wee hamster but it was my first pet and it seems strange with him not there.
Took him to the vet last month and given the all clear but we think he had a leision on his spine ( like me)and it was causing paralysis of his back legs - still seemed full of life but Vet reckoned he'll not get better and probably not fun for him with his back end dragging about so we put him to sleep

I test drove a 1.4 16v before i got my 16. 16v and it shifted for a 1.4
Wideboy
21-12-09, 07:44 PM
mines XE then 16v
yeah i know i shocked me when i test drove it. was chipped soon after but i get crap fuel economy... i've got 48 miles out of 10 quid this week
lol, do you know what its outputting now? i was suprised at how quick my 1.6 was as well considering it was 7 years old and had 90k on the clock

21-12-09, 07:49 PM
nope no idea cant be arsed with paying to get it done, mines just about to go over to 85K so im looking to get rid of it
ooo
I want to get my leon remapped, theres one i was looking at called revo, they do a 5 hour free trial then it reverts back to a standard map, they say you will get up to a 10% increase so that would put it up to 115 bhp :p then id just need to find another 10 bhp to contend with the new 1.6 leon
Wideboy
21-12-09, 07:54 PM
all chipping company's talk out their **** ends...... i want to go back to diesels, mates selling his vectra SRI soon but its nearing 100k, its 150bhp tho 8)

Tbh i need to get a job pay off my car then see what i can do, id rather a bigger engined carand i would also like a diesel and wish i got one instead of my leon purly because theres barely any differnce in price per litre and when i first got my car i put 60 quid in it and get 300 miles to a tank whereas a disel would prob be double the mileage for the same price

no standard all the way, a little chip and sound system (no sub tho :ncool:)

Mine was 1500 quid tpft and for an 18 yr old with 1 years no claims i thought that was good esp as i just paid £1212 for my 1.6 astra, trouble is, the car is just to big for what i need it for.
My Mum and Dad only got their Kuga 135 bhp TDCI in march and my Dad wants to sell it and get a Kuga 2.5 225bhp (same engine as focus st) automatic, current car has only done 3k miles, i think i know where i get my wanting cars from
