Wish the Argies had captured Clarkson & co, as throwing them into prison for a long time would have made me feel good for the amount of my licence fee going on the dire 2 part Top Gear special.
They need to change the formula, because everything was predictable as custard.
I only see it as entertainment, but it wasn't

I saw it as more as a eccentric travel show. Some of those places looked amazing.

Yep, but its a bloomin expensive travel prog.I've been better entertained by watching Henry Cole on his travel prog.
i was impressed by how well the cars coped with what was thrown at them, although it would depend on how much off camera fettling was done by the support crew.
I did wonder is there had been any extra metal work put under the cars as they must have scraped a lot on the floor.
Also there was a good safety message in the programe. Horses are dangerous!!

Indian call centre by any chance?
I know many years ago a colleague was having problems with his line. He eventually got a UK number to call, and the person understood & wasn't reading from a script
Its mum's land line so important if she needs help as the assistance service tag use it.
In the end I said " you couldn't understand me on the line. I am using my phone from my house that worked fine when I unplugged it 15mins ago. It's straight in the BT master socket. Nothing else is connected ".
Eventually I got a open reach engineer booked.

I didn't even bother to watch it this time. If I want to watch something that makes me want to visit a country I'll put on Simon Reeve, nice to look (him and the places he visits) at as well as entertaining. Brian Cox equally splurges a fortune traveling around the world to do a a piece read to camera but at least it's vaguely educational. I had to chuckle when Cox explained that the Laws of the Universe can be written on one sheet of paper (as he scrawled them on a cricket scorecard) and but the laws of cricket require a whole book to explain them. This must make me a genius then!
My gripe is getting an email from M&S home insurance thanking me for renewing - that's the first I've heard from them so I don't even know how much it cost to renew and my policy should have changed as I now own more stuff. Very annoying.

It maybe the last time I watch a Top Gear special again.
With all the pre show hype, I thought it might be entertaining like the last few, but it was not to be.
Think they needed to hype it up, so that people might watch it

Crackle often doesn't show as a fault because the line test system isn't sensitive enough if the faults at the far end.
Yep. Like I said to the Tec helping girl.
Encountered this before. You test don't do the wire to the house.
I obviously don't care about the " it will cost you etc ". Because you're not allowed to go past the master box.
They honestly told mum it was her phone twice.
That's why I went round and called from her land line.
You should be entitled to contact open reach directly.
My IP is just as bad though.
Hopefully when they cone and connect fiber they are going to behave.

Encountered this before. You test don't do the wire to the house.
well it does, it does the whole line and everything on it, but what you've got with crackle is a line thats basically intact but with a break thats still making contact. Causes high resistance on the line but the test system runs on a higher voltage so often doesn't sense it. OR if it does the discrepancy isn't enough to trigger the system to register a fault although it may be visible if someone looked at the actual numbers.
Part of the problem is that there's acceptable thresholds for these things because anyone can connect anything to the line so that has to be allowed for.
I obviously don't care about the " it will cost you etc ". Because you're not allowed to go past the master box.
Charges come down to essentially 3 things.
Damage to our line on your land not caused by us,
Issues beyond the master socket causing problems on the line, and
Water damage within the property.
You should be entitled to contact open reach directly.
It'll never happen because then Openreach would essentially become a service provider and have a massive competitive advantage.
Negating the point of setting up Openreach.
Personally I think once you've checked the line on the test socket the best thing to do is demand an engineer, make it plain you accept the possibility of charges and don't deviate from that till you get one.

I had similar problems & the engineer came to my house & renewed the cable from the master box, after testing it for noise etc from my end.
The cable had been pinched somewhere if I remember correctly & it was very old!
Its been fine ever since.
Well there is nowt I can do more. Save left mum a reliable mobile. So she will be ok for the next week and I pop round every day so she can use my phones Internet tether to check out her emails and face ach ;)

My bank have now added an extra A4 page to all their correspondences with me to inform me of their commitment to sustainability, and how they will now send a single letter with all my correspondence rather than multiple letters at the same time. I still get my credit card and bank account statement two days apart, both containing this new extra page. So that's two extra pages per month, and these people are responsible for my money...

I had this virus (or similar) back in October, typically JUST before my annual flu jab.
For all you oldies or have kids (or come into contact with them), then get the flu jab this October.
It may not prevent getting the flu, but it might stop it getting really bad.

If you get that residual blocked nose after the cold/flu has gone the salt water stuff you squirt up your nose really does work. A friend from Russia tells me that it's a standard cold treatment over there to snort salt water but that gets messy! So this is far more convenient! Unlike the little bottle of spray like Sinutab this doesn't just temporarily constrict the blood vessels which can just make the situation worse.
Just have a tissue ready or you get wet snotty feet!

I'm fatter than I thought!
Mens trousers are sized three inches smaller than the actual size.
A mate at work was checking before he ordered some kevlar jeans on evilbay and was stunned to find his fitting 32" waist was actually 35" on the tape and confirmed his 32" trousers also measured 35"
Suddenly im three inches bigger and not in the good way.
I know I had plenty to eat at Christmas but this revelation has really got my goat.

And men's trousers show a waist measurement but unless you are Simon Cowell you don't actually wear your trousers around your waist. I have several male friends now hitting middle age who proudly boast they are 'still only a 32" waist just like when I was 20!" They completely fail to acknowledge the paunch around the belly they have gained over 20 years because it hangs over the top of their trousers! All that belly fat and beer gut is a fast track to type 2 diabetes but they are fooling themselves they aren't any bigger.

Incompetent retailers...
This has been going on for a few weeks now. I bought a cheap chinese petrol chainsaw from an online retailer for £70, and it was advertised with an Oregon chain. When it arrived it was supplied with some cheap chinese brand chain.
So I complained. They sent out an Oregon chain... the wrong gauge.
So I complained again. They sent out another of the same chains.
So I complained again. They sent out a chain of the correct gauge but the wrong number of links.
So I complained again. They suggested that I remove some links from the chain. I refused. Now they're trying to tell me that I haven't turned the tension screw.
It seems they're utterly incompetent and yet they're implying that I'm the retard here. I've sent them the exact code of the chain that's required but I haven't heard back yet.
I'll give them some credit - the delivery service is awesome. Oh and they haven't asked for any of the chains back. Still all I want is what I ordered in the first place.
I'm now an expert in chainsaw chain sizes.
Seriously - this is an accident waiting to happen. If they keep sending out incorrect chains to customers, somewhere someone's going to attempt to fit one and use it, and it's not as it chainsaws aren't dangerous enough already.

I think this is a generic retail problem where stores rely on the customer to actually know what they are doing and the pleb being behind the till instead of in front of it.
Aside from the one member of staff in a store who actually cares most retail staff don't have a clue.
teenage drivers especially young girls.
was at a set of lights when i felt a bump on the back of the car, looked out the rear view to see a car right up my chuffer. so i turn the motor off and and tell the driver (young girl) that she need to pull over as she has bumped my car and i need to check for damage and exchange detail just in case.
she pulls over onto the verge as do i we both get out and the first thing she says is 'i was not paying attention', then says there is no damage to your car. i say there might and there might not be damage and that will be up to the garage to determine as there are lots of sensors and stuff behind the bumper. the girl then jumps back in her car and starts to phone someone and i think ok.
i start to send a txt to myself with her reg number and she then starts the car and tries to drive off to which i stand in front of the car and tell her she is going nowhere till i take her details. well she then jumps out the car and starts to call me a d!ck and all sorts and then starts crying and saying that i'm scaring her and she is in a hurry.
i then tell her that if i'm scaring her then she should call the police and we will let them deal with the matter. i then tell her to calm down and tell me her name, address and to give me a phone number and to show me proof of ID to which she gives me a phone number and then starts crying again and says that i'm scaring her, jumps in her car and tries to drive off again to which i again stand in her way.
eventually she calms down a bit and then gets back out the car and refuses to give me her name and address as her mum says not to. to which i say well i have your reg number and a witness so please yourself but expect a visit from the police or a letter from my insurance company if there is any damage. i then explain that if there is no damage then all is well but if there is then it will have to be fixed and let her on her way.
now i know i'm ugly but to date i have never scared anyone with my mannerism. lol
i dont think i'm the first that she has done it to and i dont think i will be the last.. poor lass.
i have had a quick look at the car and everything seems to be fine so i think i'll just leave it at that.
