Woman who pulled out on me while filtering down the bus lane, just managed to avoid other than a small scrape on one exhaust. Followed her and pulled her over, noticed she hadn't even demisted her windows, and had a bit of a rant. WTF is wrong with some people?

More and more the standards of road sense is diminishing .
I've a single file bridge I cross every morning.
The amount of Pr1cks who barge over it is getting ridiculous.

1.65%, sorry the company is still not recovering its margins. Yet other parts of the business are giving up to 10% in bonus. (My part is not considered a profit centre and therefore will not give bonuses)....

My salary has gone up by 7% in 8 years. They know I am locked into the final salary pension and cannot spit my dummy like a twenty something and go elsewhere. So much for loyalty!

The malevolent little bee that flew into me today, got caught in an updraught and stung me at the top of the neck under the jaw.

True. The guy we interviewed yesterday to take over from me on a perm basis when my contract expires tried to make out he ran several projects at a previous job, not realising my boss leading the interview had been there at the same time. His face fell and needless to say he is not coming back for a second round.

Too many old farts slowing me down on my descents braking for corners that could just be driven through, no safe place to pass on my pushbike :-| :p

still i managed one near clear run down the col du telegraph, loads of bikers out on the road on the way up and i was passed by some old boy on his Laverda 750 twin, it made a nice noise as he accelerated away from me

I am going through all sorts of problem with pain in my right hand.

shooting pains in fingers, wrist hurts, slightest knock on the base of the thumb is agony.

GP, refers me to Orthopaedics.

Referral centre send me instead to a physio. He decides the problem is my neck, organizes an MRI and tells me I have a trapped nerve causing it all. Jobs for the boys and refers me for physio on my neck.

In the meantime I do get an appointment with an orthopeadics consultant. He says my condition is complex and organises nerve conductivity tests, x rays and ultrasound exams.

Nerve conductivity test show evidence of carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands, ultrasounds show swelling in the joints. Blood tests show no Rheumatoid markers.

Injections into the carpal tunnel helped some of the issues with my ring/little fingers for a few weeks but pain returned.

I now also have appointments booked at the rheumatoid clinic despite the absence of markers (4 month wait) dreading winter. I wear splints on my wrists at night and when pain is bad.

Not fun getting old.

i see the opposite where i stay, junkie parents underfeeding their kids but in the eyes of others they look healthy.

i have a friend who i have known all my life. he is fat and always has been but comes from a deprived alcoholic single mother family and as such did not get fed well, his sister is exactly the same so how come they are fat but their brother from a different father is as skinny as a rake.

have you thought that the family in question might be depressed due to the child getting bullied due to their looks or have a genetic condition.

Depression doesn't excuse over feeding/eating. Yes there will some cases whereby a genetic condition is involved, but the majority of parents with overweight children will cling to notions such as 'it's cruel to deny him sweets' or 'he's just big boned' or 'he takes after his dad' etc etc. too many people know too little about nutrition and we're witnessing the first generation of people to die younger than their parents due to the wrong food choices and lack of movement.

there are many forms of depression and it affects different people in different ways and surprise surprise comfort eating is one of them.

dont get me wrong i do understand what you are saying but dont judge a book by its cover. ok its not the child's fault that they were born into said family but the child was and the parents are only doing what they know to raise their child. once that child is old enough to make their own decisions then they can. would you rather the state stepped in and put the child into care and if you think yes then you might as well condemn society.

there is nothing wrong with being fat. being obese on the other hand is a different kettle of fish.

You mean child abuse.
After all they are what they eat and its the parents that give them the food that they stuff down their throats. The child eats what they are given and until they are old enough to get a job and buy their own food and cook it, before then they rely on the parents. I guess in most cases the kids have a better idea on healthy foods via the health schools programme.

Now he's has the hump because I'm struggling to keep my eyes open.

Besides. Cookery? I might be likened to Mr Gradgrind, but COOKERY?

All you need is butter or Stork, flour, maybe an egg, rice or died beans to blind bake and a bit of silicone paper.

Before the rain:

And now we have definitely more rain coming and the possibility of a hurricane coming this way on Saturday.
Hopefully not. It will be devastating if a hurricane hits this already flooding area.

The area flooded got 10 inches of rain in one day. Today pics on the news showed lots of areas under water.
Not in flood danger at home but with over 7 inches of rain since Friday and more on the way, I am concerned some of our trees may fall if winds from the hurricane come this way.

Most of the good roads on my favorite mountain ride have been affected.
Some are closed. One mountain road is now partially one lane after a mudslide.
Hopefully will get out on the bike and survey some of the damage next weekend.

I've had that the past few days mav. Olbas oil in a bowl of boiling water works quite well

Go to boots and get some menthal chrystals and put some(only a few) in a bowl like olbus oil, these will get a tortoise out of its shell no problems !!!

Cheers guys, but as a long term sufferer, the Olbas Oil trick doesn't work, I'll try the crystals, but I may have to resort to squirting warm salty water up them with a syringe :(

Aching knees, back and arms after laying the last bit of block paving on my drive.

Getting old sucks.

The crystals are powerful magic.
Follow the directions.
A little goes a long way.
