My front tyre, rear tyres, chain/sprockets and the big 12k mile service seem to have sync'd up perfectly :(

Anyone got any spare money they don't need?

I'm at MCM Comicon again with my daughter. I'd booked a meet and greet, on the schedule yesterday, it was between 11.15 and 12.15. Schedules now changed to 1745!

How many sodding snails are in my fish tank.

Aquatic centre/fish shops reall should do more to ensure they don’t have any.

Wish I’d not bought more plants now.

Some cnut in the restaurant where I had dinner tonight.
He complains for at least 10 minutes to the waitress about his steak, during which time she offers to have it cooked more even have another one cooked but no none of this is good enough and he decides to keep it, eats every speck of it and never mentions it again even to his friends.
He's either trying to get a free meal or just enjoys belittling waitresses.
Typical Fricking American.

This is a regular gripe of mine, customers who don't pay on time. You don't go and do your shopping at Tesco* and expect It to be ok to "pay in a couple of days"

* other supermarkets are available

I used to work for a big automotive 1st tier body sub-assembly manufacturer and they used to pay 90 days from the end of your invoice month (so if you invoiced near beginning of a month could be near 120 days) - our name was mud with suppliers and us engineers could not ask for any supplier favours because of our rubbish payment terms, but most big companies seem to do it 'because they can' - suppliers cash flow, 'who cares'.

Yeah I've seen this tendency also. Mainly because, I think, that many large suppliers don't expect it and therefore charge the interest it'll cost them upfront included in their fees. Some places have even been surprised when I say "I'll pay it now". It means I should have negotiated harder :(

My gripe today - Ridiculous pricing!
Not having a printer and needing to print out a postage label, I went into a local copy shop where the guy said, 'Yes.' when I asked if he could print out a 1 page B&W copy from a memory stick.

He did it, and then asked for £2.10. I told him this was a bit steep and wished he'd told me beforehand. 'It's the cost of running a business.' he said. 'You pay for me, the machine, the ink, the paper...'
I wasn't going to pay his price and suggested 25 or 30p was more reasonable. His response was to shred the very valuable A4 sheet he'd just printed.
Transaction terminated and a business I won't be using ever again.

On our BBC local news program last night was a feature on "Spice Zombies" in Lincoln and Hull. Spice (apparently) is an artificial strong version of cannabis but the users go beyond stoned and enter into a zombie like state. Shoppers take a dim view of this and are complaining.

The police say they cannot do anything until a crime has been committed. Hmm, so it's ok to wait for speeding motorists to commit an offence but not ok to station a policeman in the city centre and wait for a user to... well, use? If you were drunk and disorderly because of alcohol they'd chuck you in the cells overnight, why can't they do something similar?

No profit in catching drug users, motorists are obviously much more dangerous and obviously much more lucrative LOL

Paople who use drugs are already zombies, they just revert to normal state when they take them.

yup. petrol prices are at £1.36ltr up here, thats 20p rise in 6 weeks while oil prices have gone up very little.

strange how the price of everything is getting higher and higher even though production costs are dripping. just wait till we have import duties from Europe... yey for brexit.

Unlucky Bibs. I filled up my car a couple of days ago in Norwich & paid £1.229 a litre. But you are right about the rising costs. My last 4 car fillups were £1.149, £1.157, £1.167 and £1.229. March, April and two in May.

Why is it when you book a time slot for a person to call do they never turn up during that slot?

Booked for my old car to be picked up this morning between 8 and 12, I'm still waiting.

Don't get me started on this one. I have been waiting for Autoglass to replace the front screen on Lady Poppy's Focus... First appointment was, wait for it, nine days away. Seriously???? They never showed up.

Me: where are you?
AG: we're out of stock
Me: how can you be out of stock for one of the most popular cars in the country?
AG: we've been busy
Me: when will it be back in stock
AG: should be within the next two weeks
Me: WHAT!?!? Let's get another appointment in the book then so I'm not at the back of the queue when it does come in then
AG: we can't do that until we can allocate stock to a job
Me: so probably another week and a half wait then when it does come in stock?
AG: yes

Somehow I did not swear at them copiously at this point.

It's been two weeks and no call. Good job in a way that I'm between contracts as this would be losing me so much money by now being self employed. Tried other glass companies but none of them can help as Admiral have locked in Autoglass as their only supplier it seems if you want to claim via your policy. As my screen is heated and has the traffic sign/lane departure cameras fitted it is not a simple one so I'd be looking at hundreds for a non-insurance replacement.

The wait and having a car off the road for so long is driving me (no pun intended) mad!

seems to me they hoisted themselves by their own rear there. They must have given the screen they allocated to you when you booked to someone else? Out of order. Time to call Admiral and insist this is not an acceptable level of service and they should foot the bill from another supplier. I'll be interested to know the outcome of this, I've just insured with Admiral and have a heated windscreen with various sensors in it on the Karoq.

Just dumped BT broadband. Prices have steadily risen since I retired and they now expect £50 a month for unlimited fibre. Also they charge an additional £5 a month for caller-id.

I've signed up with Plusnet at £24 a month. Caller-id is£0.99 a month.

I've had to drop down a speed from 52mbs to 38 but I can live with that.

I also got £70 back from Topcashback.

Did that earlier on this afternoon. They have a complaints department (bit worrying on its own) but they said they only approve using someone else in exceptional circumstances. I pointed out my lack of earnings and they said they'd go and shout at Autoglass for me. Of course I have again heard nothing since... It will not be a surprise that I will be checking with other insurers before I take out a policy later in the year to make sure they do not lock in to one glass company like Admiral do. I get a good price usually on a multi-car policy from Admiral and this is my first glass claim in over 5 years but this is such a pi55 take I don't want to use them any more.

If it was Cameron Donald he is pretty qualified to talk about TT as he has been a winner in both the Superstock and the Superbike race, he can't be any worse than Boris Becker was commentating on Wimbledon...............

Why is Jodie Kidd in there ? fulfilling a quota, another tick in the equality box ? She is a nice enough person but hardly qualified to talk about TT.

Yeah absolute pants as you don't need 'retrospective' info when it was delivered very often, only good thing is out local sorting office is only a couple of miles away and open daily from 7am and on on Saturday.

With Amazon delivery they tell you the day it will arrive and on that day you can actually track the delivery van on a map and watch it move in your area in real time - magic................

Someone who hasn't been in work since Jan '17, other than a brief stint in December to see if they could still work as their Doc decided they'd had enough and signed them back to work.
Had meeting and they are still not able to work so the business have decided enough is enough.

Today they have decided to appeal. I know it's not a nice place they are in, but we have gone above and beyond, getting specialists involved as they claim the NHS has washed their hands of them looking at making changes in the business, everything we can.

And then two disciplinary meetings this afternoon.

Loose chippings. The local council resurfaced part of a main road into Norwich a couple of days ago and there are loose chippings everywhere. I tried to brake as a set of traffic light changed only for the bike to slither all over the place , I had a choice; brake harder and possibly fall off or the go through the red light. I didn't fall off.

Loose chippings here too. The roads are in a grim state with Romanian sized potholes everywhere. Council has slapped patches of tarmac in the holes without sealing any of the edges, and then put loose chippings down over the lot.
On one stretch of busy road a few miles away the road sweeper was sent down to clean up the loose stuff 24 hours after it was put down, so at least that piece of road is now navigable on two wheels. The road through our village however, has great deep ridges of the stuff everywhere. I'm just about to try and get the bike out through it. :-(

Maybe they did a seamless repair? Supposed to be stronger than cold cut and bitumen overbanded repairs because it binds the new tarmac into the existing road. Supposed to be cheaper too.

Never seen anything like this by us, just a couple of blokes with a flatbed and some tarmac............

Went out in car yesterday and was concerned for tyres and suspension - some stretches have potholes like a teenager has acne - and if a vehicle is coming the other way just grit your teeth and wait for the bangs. At least it is easier to dodge potholes on a motorbike, but if you do hit one the result can be much worse than in a car.

I have lost a couple of car windscreens due to top dressing. one chip in the wrong place and the whole screen is FUBAR.

Country to relax immigration rules.

I'm not against the policy, others maybe. But how did we get into this situation? Tightened immigration laws under the last Home Sec despite warnings to her that it wouldn't work. Vote out of EU so we can control our borders. Throw out people who were legally here for years after WE brought them here. And now there's concern we need people to run the NHS.

Sounds like a U turn to me but strange how the press haven't said that.

No one in their right mind would object to government making it easier to bring in well educated skilled people. The problem before with 'free movement' of people from EU is that it took no heed of peoples qualifications or suitability, they could basically export their unemployment to the richer countries (and countries like Spain, Greece and many eastern EU countries did just that). We emigrated to Australia in the late 80's and the amount of time it took and the medical checks, criminal checks and paperwork it took was mindblowing, even though we were qualified and had jobs to go to. The Aussies learned the hard way that free movement is not an option and refused to allow asylum seekers and people trafficked by criminal gangs any where near Aussie, they processed them offshore in PNG (because as we all know - once these people set foot on your territory they become your problem and can be devilish hard to get rid of). The problem with lax immigration is that richer countries will always attract chancers and criminals as well as people you would actually want walking around freely in you society.

A governments main job is to protect its citizens, this means checking who is coming and going and not having 'quotas' to fulfill. Many countries have been very deeply damaged by EU free movement but are slow to admit it, some like Italy, Austria and others have had anti-immigration parties elected because they are waking up at last.

Words utterly fail me. To make it worse, even though this is yet another feckup by them, I now have to go to the back of the queue yet again. They're now allegedly coming on Thursday next week, which will be exactly one month after I called it in.

To add insult to injury I have finally managed to get another national glass company to quote me for a private sale. I hope you're all sitting down! Including the VAT it would be £831.88 for a cash sale and I'd still have to wait a whole week before they can fit me in. I'm in the wrong profession - I should be a glazier...

I don't wish to touch your buttons, but there is one small oversight. The EU does require free movement of persons but only in countries that Schengen members. The UK is not a member and therefore can implement it's own visa policies.

If it were a member it could still have it's own checks (several members did this in 2015 and it was within the agreements). Within the agreements if an individual does not have a job and does not have resources to support themselves they can be refused.

Even though we are not in Schengen any citizen of an EU member can come into UK without a visa by presenting a valid passport, and can live and work here under 'EU free movement' (not schengen rules) no questions asked. Within shengen there are no passport checks and you don't even have to really carry a passport - just an ID card - this is the reason terrorists from eg. Spain can be in Belgium within 24 hours, no questions asked, they can slip across borders as though they don't exist (which is the ultimate aim of the EU - just one big one beige coloured homogenous area).

SV650rules, you said:

The problem before with 'free movement' of people from EU is that it took no heed of peoples qualifications or suitability, they could basically export their unemployment to the richer countries (and countries like Spain, Greece and many eastern EU countries did just that).

The point I made was that this is not true. If an individual doesn't have a job and has no way of supporting themselves, (or health insurance) the host nation can expel them so they are not a burden. The host can also expel for threats to the state, public policy or public health.

Europe cant be blamed giving these rights to member nations, or failing to use them.

It's hard to put into words how it feels to live in a country where little children are being locked away in cages because their parents may or may not have committed a misdemeanor crime.
Just as bad is hearing people who support it.

With a global trade war looming with every ally and trade partner we have, it's a sad day to be living in the US.

If only I could win the lottery my first stop after collecting the winnings would be the international terminal at the nearest airport.

The once mighty symbol of freedom to the world is now a global disgrace and on the UN's list of countries with human rights violations.

It doesn't take many people to get this going. Don't forget it was not the majority who voted for him, Clinton got more votes.

He fed a fear of immigration, then started shutting press coverage down with fake news claims and then barring critical publications from conferences. Now he's using the Bible as justification for an unkind and inhumane application of law and wants 'his people' to 'sit up at attention' like an unstable, ruthless, killing dictator's.

It all sounds too horribly familiar. I'm sure he will stop short of the Night of the Long Knives.

EU needs to understand Trump is right (some countries are now waking up from their sleepwalking) and do something to control their uncontrolled tsunami of economic migrants. Norway, Italy, Austria, most EU former Soviet states and Germany the latest to realise, Merkel may well be out before this month ends because of her ill advised 'all welcome' policy. Virtue signalling is fine when it does not result in the destruction of your countries own culture and hard fought values, but otherwise.......... (Sweden is a very good example of wrong-headed thinking).

Maybe Clinton did get a few more votes, but as a percentage it is negligible. Maybe Clinton supporters did not understand what they were voting for (argument often used by anti brexit crowd, but brexit got more votes LOL ).

Gripe. The rush to cloud host everything.

I have an invoice processing system linked to several ERP systems and export some data to a file share that is picked up by BI systems.

Now one of the BI systems is being scrapped and its functionality built in the "Cloud" suddenly the people that made the decision have discovered they cannot pull from the internal file share and want me to change my systems. No budget, no resource, no change approval. I am making data available that can be consumed by the current solutions. They do not understand that it is THEIR problem if they want to read my data. Grrrhh you would have thought data source was a key question prior to deciding to cloud host an app!

I feel your pain Tim. The Cloud is the latest buzz. A bit like virtualisation was about a decade ago - the "must have" thing. Now I'm not saying in the right circumstances these aren't brilliant and useful technologies but like anything else you need a good reason to migrate.

It seems many companies just skipped the cost/benefit analysis entirely cos er... well everyone else is doing it. And the benefits are obvious, right? :smt120

I returned from the TT Friday the 8th, my ferry arrived at heysham at 23:15 or something like that.

I started driving down and after 2h I started to feel sleepy, so stopped and took a nap as I thought it was the right thing to do. I was more tired than I thought as I didn't heard the alarm and woke up 3h later.
I had a coffee and a mars and kept going to arrive home at 7 am

Today I received a letter containing a fine for being parked for more than 2h at the rest area. 100£, if I knew taking a rest would be so expensive I'd get an hotel room because keep driving with the risk of falling sleep wasn't an option

There is legal precedent in challenging these overnight charges. A lawyer well known for fighting parking charges received one at a service station but fought it and won in his lunchtime.

Is challenge on basis that they probably don't have compliant signage (it has to be clear and large print as well as being posted), they probably didn't suffer loss of income.

Unfortunately all of the rest areas and motorway services are like this. I actually wandered back down the road once and skimmed through the small print on the warning sign you drive past and cannot possibly read - two hour max or pay or face a fine via ANPR. I can see how it stops "travellers" and freeloaders but an arbitrary time limit seems a bit unfair for someone like yourself that does not need more than forty winks.

The fact the keyring is small is important, especially if you have to drive past it on your way off the motorway. I would argue that the signage terms fail the test of 'large lettering' and prominence of the parking charge, as established in ParkingEye Ltd v Beavis, which is fully distinguished.

This is all available as a standard letter via websites. Try money saving expert first.

I would also ask the parking company the following " I require the following information with your rejection letter: 1. Please provide dated photos of the signs on site, which you contend formed a contract. 2. Please provide all images taken of this vehicle on that day, at the material location. I will use POPLA (if offered) not the 'IAS' which has been exposed in Parliament as compromised by a conflict of interests with the IPC. The BPA were also heavily criticised and both appeals systems were condemned - hardly surprising for an industry where so-called AOS members admitted in recent years to letting victims 'futilely go through the motions' of appeal and saying on camera 'we make it up sometimes' (BBC Watchdog). Firms of your ilk were unanimously criticised in 2018 as operating an 'outrageous scam' (Hansard 2.2.18). I have kept proof of submission of this appeal and will also be making a formal complaint about your predatory and aggressive conduct to your client landowner, as well as complaining in writing to my MP and ensuring that they are appraised of the debate where Parliament agreed by way of unanimous conclusion: ''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists...should not have to put up with this''.

This really does work if you have the nerve to do it.
They have slightly spoiled your fun by writing so quickly as that stops you refusing to name the driver under the Protection of Freedom Act.

Look at Italy?
Italy has just announced that all Roma must register with the government. That "unfortunately" they can't deport Italian Roma, but the rest will be sent away.

Now replace "Roma" with "Jews". Ring any bells yet?

US Border Agency took almost 2,500 children from their parents last month. The UN have condemned it. There are now reports the Border Patrol agents told parents their children were being taken to be bathed.

Would it be a surprise if anyone thought of "shower blocks?"

Frightening.

Pretty much all the legislation on immigration (including the so called musl1m ban ) was bought in under democrats, in fact original list used by Trump was compiled by Obarmy, it is only when trump actually applied the laws that crybaby democrats threw their dummies out the pram. The legislation to prosecute illegal border crossers also predates trump, adults can be prosecuted for illegal entry but not children, so they have to be split. The easy answer is, if you don't want to be separated from your kids, stay on your side of the border and apply through the proper channels. We have moved country several times and filled in a mountain of paperwork each time, as well as medical and criminal checks.

Australia solved their massive 'boat people' problem by not letting them set foot on Australian soil ( the minute they do they are hard to get rid of because the do-gooders employ lawyers to allow them to remain, but strangely will not let them live in their houses). Since they diverted all economic migrant boats to PNG the boats have stopped.

Italy has now stopped accepting economic migrant taxi ships run by NGO's from Libya so they will be shipped to Spain and France now. Italy said ' you may not mind 600, but wait until 660,000 get delivered to you. The NGO's are just aiding and abetting the people traffickers by running a marine taxi service from North Africa to Europe WTF! how can they justify that when some boats are only 5 miles off the coast of Africa when they pick them up, why not take them back to dry land in Libya, vast majority are not fleeing war zones but are pure and simply economic migrants (illegal), mostly male under 25.

Aaaargh!
I need a new battery for my Dad's B&D drill, it takes an A14 NiCd 14.4V which are no longer available from B&D.
I order one from "topbatteries" in Portsmouth (allegedly). They eventually say they don't have an NiCd - how about a Ni-MH for another £12. No, I say, my charger doesn't support metal hydride batteries - please refund me (still waiting on that).
Meanwhile, I order this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/14-4V-2Ah-Battery-for-BLACK-DECKER-A14-A144-A144EX-A14F-Ni-Cd/300831494849?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

which clearly states NiCd.
They sent me a Ni-MH.

I did check on the difference, a NiCd charger will generally undercharge a Ni-MH battery. IF it does charge it properly it will take a lot longer (according to http://www.greenbatteries.com/nimh-battery-charger-faq/).

So now I'm waiting to see if the ebay vendor just made a mistake or tried to slip one by me. Ultimately, it looks like I need a new charger and it will be one of those decisions I hate - a £10 Chinese charger or a £45 bought-in-UK-but-made-in-China-charger.

You're probably better opening the batteries and replacing the individual cells. Plenty of guides on youtube
