Sailing past a 2 mile queue of cars caught up in roadworks south of Norwich. See my gripe.
I'm stuck on the M4 trying to get onto the M5, in the car. Very envious of the bikes shooting past.

Decided to clean the wheels on the bike, a job I have been putting off. I have a Scotoiler and the whole nearside of the rear wheel was covered in thick black oily crap, a mixture of oil flung from the chain and road crap. I now stink of Gunk.

Sometimes just sometimes I wonder if massive skin loss would be so bad.
Obviously it would be, hence sweating in places you shouldn't sweat.

I have lots of vents in my Weiss Textile jacket and they are really effective (but not when stopped LOL) - wearing Kevlar 'draggin' jeans at the moment which are cooler than 'proper' trousers (yeah I know they don't have knee-pads etc - but they are fully lined with Kevlar from just above ankle to waist level and life is full of compromises )- and a white helmet which helps a lot but not when sun is shining through the visor.

Trouble is, that all Lycra shorts are black these days, and that forms a big portion that you see of us cyclists.
Fashion dictates the colour of the jerseys and black is a popular colour at the moment, blame Team Sky and other pro teams who wear dark colours. In the 90's team colours were a lot more colourful, and everyone was happy to wear them. But cycling is a very fashion conscious sport these days, I'm overwhelmed by the number of small boutique cycling apparel sellers these days, and their equally ridiculous prices.
The dayglow stuff is hideous and doesn't help us get seen any better when we're on the road.
Bit like Hi Viz motorcycle gear, how many people ride in it and like it?

Bloke I used to work with spent £10,000 on a bike, carbon fibre everywhere. Another mate who cycles (but with more sense than money) said cycling can be a very snobby sport these days, don't bother turning up to some clubs if you bike didn't cost at least 3K and your gear another 2.
My brother has a really expensive carbon fibre road bike just for brags, rides I've very occasionally. What's that all about?

Equally true of tarmac coloured cars and folk who ride a multicoloured bike and wear camo gear that breaks up their shape.
Even a tarmac coloured car has a big advantage over a pushbike or motorbike in the visibility stakes, that it is one solid block of colour that blocks out whatever is behind it, bikes are made up of spaces and bits of colour. The car probably has DRL's as well, I fitted a pair of 10W LED spots to my SV and now Tim Peake has me clearly visible on one of his famous photographs he took from space station. Nice bright white light is your best friend if you want to be noticed, these LEDs make my extreme bright blue xenon headlight bulb look positively yellow.

No they are proper motorbike quality IP66 etc. Mine are the 10 watt Cree led at bottom left of page, £55.09 – but plenty of others from 3 watt upwards, I would recommend the Cree LED chips as made in USA and bulletproof quality. Had these fitted since May 2016 when I got my AL7 - the only proviso on the ones I got is that the screw in the joint between the lamp body and its stainless steel bracket is a bit small and easily stripped, I ended up with some epoxy in the joint (it doesn't need to move anyway so may as well be solid). My brother also fitted these same ones to his CBR600 and is well chuffed.
They do wiring kits but I just bought a handlebar switch from Alchemy (black body with red colour switch rocker matched the other controls perfectly) and wired an inline 10 amp fuse from sidelight circuit.
alchemy also on amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?me=A2FD1QJ3QJ1O94

Yep, my mother dearest did this for the house insurance without thinking of running it by me or my sister. **Turned out that she'd been paying £700 odd a year for a property with 24 garages and 16 rooms. Partly her fault for not checking details but also theirs, for not questioning the info..
Needless to say at renewal in feb this year it cost £130 which included my bicycles and activity cover for me whilst riding them.
**I've also made it my business to keep an eye on her outgoings, without being overbearing

My mum was also paying over the top so I told the insurance company not to auto renew the policy this year. Wasn't quite what your mum was paying, but a good couple of hundred.
If you're going to look after your mum's money in the future, then take out a Power of Attorney. Fairly straightforward online process, but if your mum get to the point of not being capable then it's much easier for you to look after her money.
I did this last year, and I'm glad I did, even though being responsible brings its own stress.
Now that my mum is in permanent residential care, it'll be down to me to sell her house to pay for her care. :(

When you have something brand new and covered in chrome you don't want to get it filthy before it's got 50 miles on it. Well, I don't anyway. New tyres too so the chicken in me is winning. Plus (and this is a much better excuse) my brother and family who are over from Australia stayed last night, left their stuff with us while they spent their final UK hours exploring Oxford and had a cup of tea at 5 before packing the hire car and heading for Heathrow. This stop over at the stary of their return journey was last minute and unplanned and as we see them every five years or so they rather trump a ride in the rain.
The BBC agrees with Mav's forecast so I'll head out for the day tomorrow instead.

Scouts...dirty little sods.
Daughter has become a scout leader in a depressed area. unlike all the other local units, they have no hall/hut and meet inside a church. So slowly their kit is stacking up in my garage. She brought me 5 tents yesterday and asked me to clean them before putting them away. 4 hours to do two.
They are covered in mud and mold. They wouldn't get open between camps. I know they have nowhere where they can air them out. But why couldn't one of each group of occupants take one home and sling it over the washing line with a bucket of soapy water for the ground sheet and hose down the fabric. Then let it dry properly before packing.
The did he same to the A140, my route into Norwich a couple of weeks ago. Dicey for the first few days. They leave the chippings so traffic can bed then in. In Norfolk they get swept about a week later.

I take it back, they are worse.
Just cleaning out another tent and there is something in the pocket, shoved my hand in.
Thank you very much ladies. A used sanitary towel. What a bunch of dirty mingers.
Funny how beer and whisky makers go to certain areas for the quality of the water (Scotland, Ireland, English North Midlands) and then make something as far from water as you can get out of it - maybe miracles do happen after all :D
The English Whisky Company is in South Norfolk. I tasted one of their whiskys last week and it was quite smoky, like a light Islay. Very acceptable, apart from the price.

TomTom anti-theft solution. Checked the one to buy from the TT website and ordered it priority delivery from Amazon. Arrived yesterday. It's doesn't fit.
Arrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!!
After much stamping about and swearing in the garage I have already been refunded online and it was deposited at the local corner shop for Collect+ to return it. At least the refund process was simple. Plus I've now worked out which version I really need...
