well since you dont have enough money for those that really need it does that not make you the one who needs it. look after number one first my friend and until such all others can go fek aff. let me shed a bit of light on this... those beggars you see on the street make on average £200 a day in the right spot, tax free. it only takes 200-400 people to be kind with loose change.

I just got a bus lane camera charge for last Friday at 07.42 but I know for a fact that I was on site before 7.30 because I met my boss at that time and there was another colleague who can confirm this. So they either got the times wrong or are just making up BS to generate more money.

FFS bloody kids!

Just found out I have a 3 year old grandson. I have seen the kid loads of time, he lives with his grandparents as mum is a looser, they live next door to my son. Father on birth certificate demanded a DNA and failed, so 4 others were tested. Guess who hit the jackpot.

No wonder his grandparents acted funnily in the pub a few weeks ago when they discovered who we actually were!

Last day of my Devon holiday.

And this morning I was awoken at 6am by someone banging on the front door. I thought perhaps a neighbour so when it didn't stop I went downstairs.

There was Bob the herring gull who has been sitting in the garden all week and eating scraps knocking loudly on the front door with his beak demanding a snack.

Cheeky bird.

The work email system. An imposed 2GB limit to email folder size to control storage costs.

I delete the unnecessary rubbish, I archive everything at 90 days. I'm over the limit and can't send anything.

I'm working from home, the IT guy visits the office on Thursdays, but you have to pre-book him. By email.

Guess it's going to be quiet next week.

Did I say I get sent almost every drawing for every building project including a planned massive new build? My average email seems to be 10 MB. We are not officially allowed to use cloud storage, so Dropbox is not officially used.

I sent a quick message to a friend yesterday wishing him a happy birthday.

His reply was that he's had to postpone it because he's at Great Ormond St having just discovered his child who is under 6 months has an aggressive brain tumour that has spread too much for surgery, he's too young for radiation therapy. They've been told there really isn't much hope. Life isn't fair.

He has my every sympathy as I found myself in a similar position. My daughter was 3 weeks old when we were told by Great Ormond St. that she had only a few days to live unless she had immediate heart surgery and that would only be a short term fix. We thought that the world had fallen on us. Nothing can prepare you for news like that.

I sensibly didn't drink yesterday after the match even though there were free drinks for a few hours. Instead I met a friend and drank tea, was home by midnight.

not reading specs.

Need a new NAS.

So buys a 5 bay chassis. Asrock N3150-ITX motherboards supporting 4 SATA, 16GB SO-DIMMS, 5 WD 3TB Red disks and a PCI-E controller for msata/5th sata.

I already had a 256GB msata for boot in the gubbins box.

Starts to put it together and FFS.

The sata/msata controller requires at least x2 PCI-E, yes the motherboard I bought is x1 PCI-E.

So motherboard swap time for the PC on the tv with a full PCI-E interface, so I don't need to buy another board/processor. But that one has only 4GB. So off and buy another 16GB in DIMMS this time. TV PC is now overkill in memory. But it all goes together.

Start trying to use the new NAS and data errors. Run SMART diags on the alerting disk and no fault found. Swap cables and it is still alerting.

So move the SATA onto an unused on my sata controller and everything hunky dory.

So I have a duff sata port on my old mother board.

This money saving NAS has ended up costing me, simply because I didn't read properly the spec of the Asrock N3150-ITX motherboard before I bought it. The board is well past its warranty, lesson learned. Next time don't be in such a hurry. Read first.

ok granted if you are a 'consumer goods junkie' and use amazon a lot then it would pay for itself with the free delivery but if not then its a waste of £5.99 a month or £79 a year. after the free month your signed up for a year, then you forget about it and dont cancel so they keep taking the cash from your account with auto renewal. the mate got caught out with that one.

That is my gripe of the day!

You paid for a service that they failed to deliver on, so they don't give your money back but just give you an extension to your subscription thereby tying you in for longer.
If I said the mobile phone company were rubbish and failed I wouldn't be happy if their response was to extend my contract even if it were for free.

You paid for a service. They didn't give you the service. They still took your money.

The least they should offer is money back for this month having not done what they said and give next month free as a gesture to help retain your custom.

On Monday I had my deceased Seiko brought back to life by... Seiko UK. They are based in Maidenhead so a very convenient ten minutes drive away from work. They serviced the watch about eight years ago which included a new battery so I asked for another magic five year battery and walked out 20 minutes later £17.50 lighter a happy chap. OK I'm lucky to be so close by but it is MUCH better service than a High Street jeweler who will only fit a one year battery and probably fail to seal the back up properly after charging you about the same price. Pulsar and Lorus are part of the same group as already mentioned.

Could have been worse - Monday night had 200 tired but raucous uni students coming back from their bike trip, grumpy about their one hour delay and the fact that the following train was allowed to leave first to avoid recording two delayed services. Some of us waiting parents were a bit grumpy too but on the plus side (yes, I know this is the wrong thread) I did have time to cycle from Marylebone to St Pancras along the Regent's Canal towpath, which is MUCH nicer than the busy Marylebone/Euston Road.

You were lucky. My 15yo Seiko Kinetic went into double click mode last year and a replacement capacitor (battery) didn't solve the problem. Apparently, mine was a 1st generation Kinetic and they had improved the internals since then and was unfixable. As I had just had a sapphire glass put on and a near like for like replacement would be around £300, I bit the bullet and sent it away to Maidenhead for service and repairs. £110 for that. I suspect they just scrapped the old internals and put in the new version. In 15 years, the watch used 2 capacitors before it died so I can;t really complain too much.

The really annoying thing is that I feel unable to visit my mother in her care home whilst I and my youngest (who visits with me) cannot go whilst we have something that could really make her very ill. If the local doctors were to use some of the money that they get from local building projects to finance another doctor rather than a fancy new porch and entry system perhaps we could get appointments whilst it still felt relevant., rather than hoping that we would be better by the time an appointment came available. I know that I am stubborn, I don't take the offered appointment because I am sure that I aill be better by then.

Riding to work this morning, doing 80 odd, next moment speedo reads about 63. I'm still accelerating at the time.
Speedo fluttered between 60 and 67 the rest of the way. Never going higher.
When I came off the dual carriage way it looked like it was behaving better. Distance still clocked up whilst riding.

Looks like I'll be taking her apart again...sodding bike.

Yes, my watch was double ticking. They said it was a fault with the mechanism. Battery I fitted expired 8 years ago so new battery on order.

Kenzie, if yours is a Kinetic, see my post above. Fitting a new capacitor/battery was not the answer.

Speedo pickup on the front wheel beginning to wear?
I would say that is a possibility

That it might be, bike has done about 33,000 miles now.
However after a bit of TLC last night, it worked today.
Hence my smile of the day. Odd that it got up to 60 something, fluttered throughout the 60's only when really pushed and I mean really. Did it go up to 71mph on the clock. Under 60 it looked like it was behaving as normal. I printed off a rough gear to rev to speed guide I found on here and stuck it next to the clock. (thanks Martin for your old post). Fingers crossed for now, that and the temp repair in the rear holding...

Football tournaments.
There's a beginning, an end and an out of season for a reason.

Tournaments? Just suck up the few remaining weekends that adults could possibly live the life of adults and not undervalued taxi drivers.
When the hell are adults supposed to enjoy the garden, the deck and BBQ? Chilled white wine or Pimms?
Instead, it's a packet of crisps in a school playing field for 5 hours and the toilet block locked all day.

Barbeques. I'm not against them per se but I do get irritated by snobbish idiots who insist charcoal is the only fuel to use but buy the cheapest rubbish they can that stinks out the whole neighbourhood with paraffin fumes. And then they burn everything... I know it can be done well with 'coal but those who are incapable should be restricted to gas. Except they'd probably blow themselves and the surrounding area up! Morons.

Kids and their parents.
My grandson is on the autistic spectrum and has behavior problems. He is not easy. But we try to fully include him.
He has just come in in tears. A neighbour's kid in his class has had a birthday party and a group return to his home. On seeing his classmates he went to join them, and was told to go away he is not invited.
Poor kid is in tears. Does not want to go to school tomorrow. If the neighbour's had said about there being a party. One of us would have been there to reign in the little chap if he got OTT. But to exclude him is just cruel.

I think that goes way beyond the gripe spectrum and into the Bloody Furious Spectrum

As a parent of a daughter statemented with Aspergers Syndrome I can fully sympathise with you and your nipper - I feel angry just reading what happened to the poor little kid!

neighbours that think burning wooden logs will work in their diy incinerator bbq .. I guess after a year they have evolved from using kerosene. I'm hoping they discover Weber exists sometime 2017

Your neighbours and mine must be related.
