You can also use the blackwall tunnel, rotherhithe tunnel and the woolwich ferry. They are all free to use, and the time you spend extra using, you'd spend finding a way to pay the toll
I don't use the dartford crossing any more, due to all the extra admin around it.

When I go on one of my rare sorties down to Kent I avoid the M25 car park and the Dartford crossing burglars. I go down via the A14/M11, through Essex and to Tilbury. From there you can get that great little ferry across to Gravesend. Pedestrians, pushchairs, bicycles, and the odd motorbike but no cars.

Please see smile of the day for relevancy to getting old. My middle age spread has finally caught up with me and I've burst the zip on my leather jacket its completely ferked. I get that 12 years out of a set of leathers aint too bad (and I was going to replace them at the end of the year) but why the ferk did it have to give out a week before I do my first proper track day in 12 years...

Hmm I suppose I had to get new leathers after my last trackday so its cyclical.

Just watched my eldest at his 'sports day'. Despite him having fun which i was extreamly glad to see, he ran his little socks off but he got the same result as kids walking. What a crock. Everyone was a winner. What the hell is that supposed to teach kids. Do as much or as little as you want and you'll get the same reward? Total horse plop.

Watch the Ashes highlights with him on Channel 5 over the next few days. Passion to win in the heart and every muscle of every player. If they lose it hurts. If they get out it hurts. If they get hit in the danglies with a hard cricket ball like Cook did today it probably stings a bit ;)

Well I thought summer showers and slippery roads.
I still have the scorpions (repaird the sticky string with a proper repair).
It's not like I'm going trail ridding so it makes sense.
Stopped the following the ruts in the road, plusher ride.
Level of dry grip pretty mute as my pegs are so low and the bikes pretty wallowey.

I managed to meet the road with my right boot last week going a little hot into roundabouts... I don't think I'll meet the road with the Explorer pegs though :)

Next thing is getting the Skidmarx Hugger and front fender extender fitted and playing with the rear shock a little to try and stop the high speed wobble with gear on the back in wind...my current annoyance

Only other gripe right now is I'm missing the Ktm v-twin torque for climbing up the revs quick....just a case of finding the sweet spot now I'm past the main run-in...

Grandkids

Caught them playing within the compound of the local electrical substation, 11KV. CJ says, I saw what I thought was a fire, so I have shown him video of what happens in a substation fire. He is still winging that everyone is having a go at him.his mum saying it is because we love you and don't want you to get hurt.

Granddaughter who was with him, tells her mum what else they have been up to. Putting stones up car exhausts, mum phones me and I have had to do a tour pulling stones out of exhausts. Gits, now I wouldn't have done that when I was an 8 year old. I would have stuffed a potatoe as far as possible to block the thing and see if it cuts the engine. Or fires it out. Not that I have told them that.

I think I met that driver on the way to work.

Mercedes driver who changed his mind on one of the busiest roundabouts in north London and left me standing in the middle of Stirlings Corner with cars driving straight at me while he hurled abuse because I didn't read his f@&&ing mind.

He didn't see me in the mirror probably because I was between it and his eyes, and didn't hear me over the horn and engine bouncing off the rev limiter with the baffle out.

The idiot who has just picked up what I take to be his grandson from the local primary school.

I would guess the lad to be 7-8 years old. Sat on the back of grandads bike. Grandad has all the gear, grandson however, is in his school shoes, trousers, jumper and an adult helmet, judging just how quick it went on.

Poor kid cannot touch the foot pegs, has no gloves. OK he is probably having the time of his life clinging onto grandad. But...... the grandad/biker in me just wanted to say, don't be so stupid. How could you live with yourself if anything happened. But I just stayed quiet and waited for my own grandson to come out of class and walked home.

Well I can't see were its coming from, because like most modern cars, access is very tight, both from the top & under, had it up on the ramps, got some coolant in my eye for my trouble

The size of the drips makes me suspect (& hope) that is a hose that's gone, plus the radiator is quite well protected.

But its a garage job, just for ease of getting the job done.

Cars 12years old now, so hoses would have degraded over time

Not my fault this time.
They think it's an infection in my small intestines. Was part of the large intestines I had removed last month.
Hopefully that's all that's wrong but it's a guess because they can't do the normal tests due to complications from all the other problems I've had.
They are putting me back on soft food today as well as some antibiotics. If that doesn't work the only other option will be exploratory surgery but they won't do that until it's life threatening due to the high risk so hoping the current plan works or I might be stuck in the hospital for a while.
Good news is if it does work I should be well in a few days and cleared to ride again! !!
Plus I've lost the weight I was going to try and lose this year so happy with that.

just had to pay off the bailiffs at my daughters door. £588 in unpaid council tax. 3 times in 5 years. why doesn't she get the hint she needs to pay it. Or at least get me to pay before they add the court and admin fees.

perhaps because the hint sounds more like "leave it long enough and daddy pays it"

Maybe you shouldn't pay it and let her deal with the consequences. a nice wee learning experience for her.

Bill you've out done me on the novelty weight loss plan after I lost a stone last year after contracting Giardia at a kids petting zoo! Just take it easy eh?

Thank you!
Going to have to make a serious effort towards following the Dr's instructions more closely and getting myself well again. This has been dragging on way too long.

This is exactly why I check all my under-bonnet fluid levels weekly. Spotting a drop in the expansion bottle helped me find a leak before the warning lights (hopefully) come on so well worth doing.

Hope the fix is not too expensive.
