why 2?
now are you sure that 2 will not just twist the neck if the tension is not set right.
to stop it bowing
munkygunn182
26-10-10, 09:38 PM
Well im awful curious to see the finished job, so get on with it!
Wideboy
26-10-10, 09:39 PM
give me some money then, cost a frigging bomb for the hardware, was considering raiding my strat but that would be a waste
you want the neck to bow under sting tension or you will have buzzing frets. this is set by the truss rod.
its a tropical wood, hard and heavy, the dust and oils in it are poisonous mess your tools up aswell as your hands....
*sniggers*
if you want hardware i'll see what i can scrape together from my bro and me. but i is not promising nowt.
munkygunn182
26-10-10, 09:42 PM
The big question then... Humbuckers or Single Coils?
Wideboy
26-10-10, 09:44 PM
humbucker, i want a bluesy tone, that's why i chose a dense timber, the two combined should give good sustain
munkygunn182
26-10-10, 09:45 PM
Nice one man, very nice!

26-10-10, 09:53 PM
I've never spent any great money on my guitars, so im playing an Epiphone SG, which this second i'm re oiling. A Squire Strat (Brought it home from the USA), a Tanglewood acoustic, and i've got some cheapy bass sitting as a project guitar!
Tend to play a lot of pop-punk/post-hardcore ie Blink 182, Greenday, Fenix TX / Set Your Goals, Funeral For a Friend etc.
What about yourself?
Wideboy
26-10-10, 09:58 PM
i have a squire start currently as weirdly its the only one i enjoy playing but i've had a 72 white genuin yank fender strat which i sold and an old ibanez rg which i sold also as i didn't play them

Just servicing the SG just now because i've been asked to gun 6 strings for a band that have supported a lot of the american punk bands visiting scotland, and have also got a record deal of sorts in sweden and have toured that corner of the world, so its a pretty good opening for me :D

Yeah man, my old band sold out any gig we played, the biggest was circa 450 people, not exactly an arena show, but damn it's fun watching folk knock each other out in the pit (true story)

i'm good, just a lil miffed that i can't sort insurance out and had a rough few days but on the mend now
seems to be the trend in insurance just now. pizz the punters off. you'll get it sorted. its coming into winter anyhoo m8.
TheOnlyNemesis
26-10-10, 11:38 PM
but my bike is the only transport i got so need it and thanks to regulations the company have 8 weeks to respond and i not sposed to buy new insurance till they reply incase they re instate my policy so gotta go a possible 8 weeks before getting it all sorted and even then i might need to go else where and pay more
DarrenSV650S
26-10-10, 11:41 PM
Ton why can't you just cancel this policy and get a new company? I thought you got a wee while to cancel a new policy if you want
TheOnlyNemesis
26-10-10, 11:45 PM
The policy was cancelled by them as they ****ed up and advertised a fake quote to me and sold me a fake quote so i gone to the insurance ombudsman and trying to get them to force them to give me back my policy for the dirty trading that they have done, they have already refunded me hence i can't ride as i un insured.
DarrenSV650S
26-10-10, 11:50 PM
If they've refunded you then doesn't that mean your free to get a new company? They cant force you to re-take the policy if they get their act together and make good the original quote, can they?
cant you just go to the company who underwrote the insurance direct and explain to them?
i sorta know how you feel m8. i have a load of goodies here waiting on my new bike but i wont have the funds till march/april. i have been pizzed off all summer not being able to ride. but hopefully i will make up for it in the spring.
TheOnlyNemesis
26-10-10, 11:54 PM
cause i launched a complaint with the insurance ombudsman i have to wait for their proceedings 2 run

Ahh that sucks.
buuuut if you can get a decent quote somewhere else then take it. the ombudsman are fukin halfwits. by the time they drag their heels the price of your insurance will go up even more. 8 weeks is only the time they will reply it may take them a lot longer to resolve the case if ever.
TheOnlyNemesis
26-10-10, 11:58 PM
all the other quotes are like £1.7k not £555
one of my mates has been shoved from pillar to post for a year and a half and still got no where.
have you tried these peeps.

Wtf, i bought some sandwiches from asda this morning and reading the small print its got halal meat in it
WB ... whats wrong with eating halal meat?
Wideboy
27-10-10, 09:06 AM
thats the meat where they give the animal maximum suffering when they're slaughter isnt it?
morning!
Internet has been restored only 2 hours without it!
Wideboy
27-10-10, 09:13 AM
Thrown them away now. i know its technically not humain to slaughter animals in the first place but i dont see how causing it maximum pain and suffering makes it better, plus i dont want to eat any religious food full stop
sup linseed
I would have eaten them.
Think of all the starving people in the world you've just insulted by throwing the food away.
Internet gone again. Back ok my phone
Gavino. Halal meat is actually killed by one slice to the next which kills the animal straight away and allows all the blood to drain out the animal making the meat less bloody.
Wideboy
27-10-10, 09:25 AM
i wouldnt have said they die straight away, regardless its still a religious food so in the bin they went
Geodude
27-10-10, 09:34 AM

true
Wideboy

yeah i wont be buying those again
Wideboy
27-10-10, 09:43 AM
Go on then call me racist, im waiting for someone to do it
I don't see the issue really.
Admitedly it's not very humain, however they've now been killed and it has happened. You've bought the meat and thrown it in the bin. That animal has partly died for no reason seeing as you didn't bother to eat the sandwiches.
your not a racist, you just don't believe in a certain way that one culture does in how to kill the meat that they eat!
Wideboy
27-10-10, 09:54 AM

I dont care that i've wasted, dont sell me the meat and try and hide the fact its religious, it should all be banned regardless of what religion it is
yes but linseed im not being pc, i've chosen not to follow a religion and up hold its believes in this "free" country, i have an opinion and acted upon it that makes me a racist
They didn't try to hide it. You just weren't observant enough in the first place.
Milky Bar Kid

It's not a "religious food" it's just that it conforms with a religions belief!! And it doesn't take long, a few seconds, for an animal to die when its throat has been cut - having seen it done.
But it's certainly your choice.
Wideboy
27-10-10, 10:08 AM
It its a religious food, you just said its been killed to comform to their religious believes?? That makes it religious
Milky Bar Kid

I didn't say that. I said it was killed in a way that conforms, its wasn't killed TO conform. Think you'll find that a lot of places use halal meat now.
