Yes and that makes it a religious meat. if it wasnt it would be slaughtered like normal, its benn slaughtered specifically for a religion

You do realise its how they used to slaughter animals here anyway? Before the invention of bolt guns?
Wideboy
27-10-10, 10:23 AM
Whats that got to do with it? halal is a religious way of killing an animal for a religious food, otherwise the animal would be killed just the same as all the rest are in a generic process..... was it called halal back years ago before bolt guns, electric pools ect?
i dont want to eat anything religous regardless of its origin its not specifically something against islam

Or Christmas cake or pudding....or mince pies, or the turkeys specifically slaughter for Christmas dinner or anything else Christmas related?:smt019
It was called halal years back, just not in this country!!!!!

What, mince pies are slaughtered ;)
Wideboy
27-10-10, 10:39 AM
you can buy it year round. where does it state turkey, mince pies ect in the bible? there are two types of christmas, commercial christmas and the christian christmas are totally different things just like easter

Ahhh, see now you are just cherry picking rules! They are still specifically religious foods.
But anyway, I need to go.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1313303/Britain-goes-halal---tells-public.html
You best get checking all of your food from now on. As well as checking with every single fast food vendor you use as to whether or not the meat is halal.
There's no point deciding you don't want to eat it once because you read the small print, and then end up eating it everywhere else without knowing.
Wideboy
27-10-10, 10:48 AM
Turkey isnt a religious food and neither is mince pies?? nor are they prepared in a religious way so how is that cherry picking the rules?

Eat what you want, believe what you want - free will to all men and all that jazzy stuff :)

27-10-10, 11:13 AM
I know this is how warw start!
i know most places sell halal meat and i probably eat it every other day without knowing, some resturants ect sell it without informing you. there is obviously nothing wrong with eating it but its still wrong to do it
I dont see there being any difference in selling stuff to you in the restaurant and not telling you it Halal meat or not and the selling of an omelette which may or many not have free range eggs in it.
If you are bothered you ask about it, otherwise do as you did read the packet and if you dont want it dont buy it, based on whatever decision you make. SIMPLE
Afternoon all btw.

My bike looks like I have been offroading :-?
Time for a clean I think
Wideboy
27-10-10, 12:04 PM
because its not right, as i say, yet again... there is no problem with halal meat itself its the principal, a muslim wont eat non halal meat and thats their right, i chose not to eat halal meat as thats my right but your all reading this as i have a problem with muslims... living in a free country i have the choice whether or not i want to do something therefore it should be clearly branded when its halal meat, probably 50% of meat products contains halal meat without it being stated and tho's selling it wouldn't know if it was or wasn't, so what am i to do?. i want to choose whether or not i want to eat it. its on the same lines as people that only buy and eat british meat or when food is branded for vegans
but your all reading this as i have a problem with muslims...
didn't read as that AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wideboy
27-10-10, 12:14 PM
Then why is there an big issue with me choosing not to want to eat halal meat?
I didn't think there was all I said was how halal meat was killed!
didn't read as that AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!
+1
It isnt a big deal hun, everything you buy in supermarkets will be labelled with it on or not, the restaurants will be able to tell you if it is or not, so they arent misleading you... you found it after all after reading the packet.
I know this is how warw start!
i know most places sell halal meat and i probably eat it every other day without knowing, some resturants ect sell it without informing you. there is obviously nothing wrong with eating it but its still wrong to do it
So why didn't you eat it?
minimorecambe

So why didn't you eat it?
Probably for the same reason I wouldn't eat battery eggs / chicken.
Its the ethical side of it.

Because i dont agree with the way the animal is slaughtered which turns this all in a big circle back to the original post in this discussion :D

afternoon all! Looks like i've turned up at a heavy moment?
Because i dont agree with the way the animal is slaughtered which turns this all in a big circle back to the original post in this discussion :D
So referring back an earlier post of mine, are you going to ask how all of your meat that you're about to eat has been slaughtered in future? There's no point saying you don't agree with it, but then continuing to eat it from other sources in the future.
I dont care that i've wasted, dont sell me the meat and try and hide the fact its religious, it should all be banned regardless of what religion it is
No I totally understand that you dont agree with the ethics of it. I was just trying to point out that no one had hidden the fact from you.. it was labelled as such on the product.
Anyway I hope everyones afternoon is going well I am off to try and get a copy of my criminal record, to prove to the agencies I dont have one  Why is everything always complicated here

Best not eat the meat when people say 'duno' then, just incase it's against your ethics. Can't risk it can you...

He?? i have a name
if you dont want to eat religious meat wideboy then i would suggest that you eat pork.
personally i prefer halal meat rather than the chemical ridden water injected tasteless meat that seems to be the trend in this country at the moment.
if a catholic kills a cow in an abattoir singing hymns does that make it religious meat?
Yo bibs.

Is the closest I can see to you answering what I asked, but it still doesn't give me what I desire.
It states that you will ask, but then does not say whether or not you will consume that meat even though you are unware of how it was slaughtered.
Please point my in the right direction of the post that explains this, seeing as my vision is so terribly impaired.

one thought that one would have gathered the definitive answer from the tone of a my posts through out the discussion upon the subject, but to satisfy your hunger for said knowledge the conclusion is yes and i already do
So you will not eat meat if someone says to you that they do not know how it has been slaughtered?
Wideboy
27-10-10, 03:10 PM
Your question is irrelevant as you are writing it in the future tense when my previous answer already anwers you current question
If I meet you I shall make sure that you ask before you eat every piece of meat, and if you cannot be supplied with an answer, that you do not eat it. Obviously I will do this in order to help protect your ethics.
Also, before anyone points out that I made a big deal of this... yes you are right.
I did it because I could and I wanted to.

I would never dream of mocking you.
I respect you as a person way too much, and if I'm honest I'm actually quite threatened by you.
You're a popular person on this forum so it seems and I wouldn't dare think of getting on the wrong side of you. I dread to think what the implications may be to such a newbie like me.
